    God I love blender and the community that surrounds it so very much lol

      For real! I've been learning blender over the last two years, and discovering the unique community and its creative atmosphere has been the best part.

    Tip: After Shift A you can just start typing to add something. For instance,” Shift A cu Enter” will add a cube. No need to click on “search”. Thanks for the video!

    As an archviz artist/ architectural designer, im so happy to see these updates. Blender is the best software for artists.

      You think Blender is the best product for architectural design?

    • @niraj4024
      @niraj4024 9 месяцев назад

      @@TheCGEssentials yes in my opinion blender is the best 3d software for archviz now after improved snaping and zooming while moving objects enabled. I have used sketch up and max too, imo blender has better ux n ui. Workflow is much smoother for organic modeling. You may miss push pull in the beginning of your learning but after adopting to certain tricks and techniques blender offers, you rarely miss push pull. Blender is free, cycles now will create superior renders. I dont think other softwares can be so good. If blender included push pull, i wouldnt find any reason to use any other software i used previously, though i have adopted well with blender and dont feel need to use push pull.

    I’m surprised the color picker working outside blender wasn’t the first thing listed! That’s huge!

    I've put off diving into Blender for mechanical drawings for too long and forced myself to do an architectural project. You in particular have been immensely helpful. I knew the rabbit hole was gonna be deep but WOW. just WOW.

      Sawmill wood built Cabin, Cabinets and Plumbing so far. Once you get the hang of the inference and magnetic stickies, it moves surprisingly quick.
      The biggest reason I started it was because of the .dae collada output that you can plug right into google earth pro. Once you get the GEP set up every time you save the file it just becomes refreshed ! so really export once and saves show up automagically.@@TheCGEssentials

    I'm excited about the geometry nodes improvements. Node tools and loops are a game changer.
    On the subject of navigation and usability, I really love the new snap and orbit feature and little things such as how easy it is to do menu searching and I don't have to hit "s" now or click "search" to search within an add object/node pop-up menu (I can just start typing my search term). That was a hard one to get used to because I still kept hitting the "s" key when adding nodes, and if I switch back to 3.6 I am going to have the opposite problem 😬.

    • @TheCGEssentials
      @TheCGEssentials  9 месяцев назад

      Node tools is LEGIT - I didn't understand what it was doing at first, but you can basically create nodes and use them as add-ons with no coding!

    It's WILD to me that some people tap x, y, or z to move objects along an axis. I just move in a direction I want and click my mouse wheel. It's generally pretty good about locking to the axis I want. I don't tap x, y, or z unless the mouse wheel click isn't locking to the axis I want.

    • @TheCGEssentials
      @TheCGEssentials  9 месяцев назад

      " It's generally pretty good about locking to the axis I want." - I mean...it locks EXACTLY to the axis I want, every time when I tap X, Y, or Z. I don't think I've ever actually seen a tutorial where people talk about clicking the middle mouse button to lock to an axis

    • @Dingle.Donger
      @Dingle.Donger 9 месяцев назад

      @@TheCGEssentials Maybe only I run into this issue but I lose track of the axes when moving around a large scene. I could look at the little 3D thing in the top right showing all the axes or I can just middle click and keep working. Depending on the movement I may also hit 7 on my numpad to go into top down view and move around with middle click. From any of the parallel projection views it's almost impossible for middle click to grab the wrong axis.

    So why couldn't emissive textures be simulated like theyre behind glass before? I guess im confused why Coat is so important in that regard that theyre using it as the main example.

    • @oodoodoopoopoo
      @oodoodoopoopoo 9 месяцев назад

      You could, but to get a believable effect you would have to work outside of the principled BSDF either by creating your own shader mix in the nodes or by creating a separate glass object with a separate material. I believe the improvement here is to add capability and rearrange the layering order of the shaders contained within the principled BSDF to achieve better quick results.

    I've noticed that Archipack doesn't work with Blender 4.0. I get a Python error when I try to enable the addon. No news on his website about it.

    Hi, what I don't get is the move tool for example. You can hit G to move and then B to set the base. That is understood. But what is the A key for, when you have pressed G+B to move with the base?? I can't figure it out and haven't seen any docu about it! Thanks in advance

    • @TheCGEssentials
      @TheCGEssentials  9 месяцев назад

      Why are you pressing the A key? G, B, click, click - there's no A key that I'm aware of

    • @nurb2kea
      @nurb2kea 9 месяцев назад

      A is 'add snap point'. You'll see it when you press G then B and choose a corner for example and now at the bottom of blender you'll see A for Snap Point (blender 4.0)@@TheCGEssentials

      I'm hoping you'll do a tutorial on this with keys/mouseButtons showing. I'm not getting it atm. @theCGEssentials

    • @nurb2kea
      @nurb2kea 9 месяцев назад

      I guess I got it. Two cubes, select one and press G then B and move your mouse over the selected cube until you find the spot you like to move and left click, now you can move the cube on this set 'base point'. When you move with this first cube over the 'second cube' you'll see the 'A' appearing at the bottom of blender (status bar). If you move let's say a corner of the scond cube press 'A' once, and a circle will appear. Do this for example on 4 corners, move the mouse away from both cubes and left click, your first cube with the base point will be centered between all the set 'Snap points' you set with 'A' @@TheCGEssentials

      @@nurb2kea Oh interesting - that's a nice feature for sure! I didn't realize this was a thing either, but I've always found trying to snap to the middle of objects in Blender was kind of a pain, so this is a welcome improvement :)
