    Error Corrections:
    - Russian SFSR didn't had it's own station before 1990, Radio Mayak is all-union just like Radio Moscow
    - I put "infamous" when it was supposed to be "famous" on the intro, don't ask how that happened-

So beautiful and haunting in a way, like they created the sounds that would describe a memory passing, and vanishing

    • @matwiw

I think most of the sounds aren't unique. For example, the sound at 0:27 is from the song "Moscow Nights", one of the most popular soviet songs.

I love them all so much, despite being relatively similar they all have their own distinct and recognisable charm. The Slavic and middle-asian ones sound nostalgic and slightly creepy, could almost fit into a horror game of some sort, the baltic ones have the vibe of a sea shanty and the Lithuanian one straight up sounds like ship bells chiming. The Caucasian ones sound the most melancholic and nostalgic to me (Probably because I myself am Georgian), it's almost like notes themselves crying.
