Anyone know the song in the Sweden interval?
"Ut i vida världen" by Ralph Lundsten
Listening to those interval signals brought back so many wonderful memories.
This is totaly sublime, shortwave paradise from yesteryear with all those haunting and poignant jingles from another time ,another dimension. Wonderful Wonderful 🙏❤️🏴🇬🇧 oct twenty four ✨️

Some of theese for me sounded creepy
Russovisky teuniski bestisky
It's funny in the background of the British Jingle you can hear Radio Moscow trying to hijack the Airwaves. My dad used to do stuff with radio in the Nederlands and he remembers when Radio Moscow would try and hijack the Airwaves and so they would have the theme of Radio Moscow blasting through on the feedback.
Wonderful stuff. With state censorship so prevalent again these days, perhaps governments should consider returning to shortwave broadcasting once more..?
Radio Vatican 🎉
I really like the Uzbek one, sounds heavenly.
полная хорошая подборка позывных
Does anyone know the names of the original songs?
Not all of them, but here's a few titles: Radio Moscow - Wide is my motherland Radio Mayak - Moscow Nights Ukrainian Radio or Radio Kiev - Reve ta stohne Dnipr Shirokiy Kazakh Radio - Гәкку
+ Azerbaijan: Azərbaycan Dövlət Radiostansiyası siqnalı
おぉー!廃墟からの復活、東ドイツの国歌! 国破れたりとも国歌は偉大なり。
So many good memories of these stations. On school nights I would put my ear phones on so my folks would not know I was staying up late to cruise the world. My trusty Eico 718 did a decent job. Now I am old and a Ham with over 200 countries confirmed . However still doesn't match the thrill of those days.. I wish there were more stations on the air now. I also would stay up and listen to AFRTS and it's daily Vietnam reports. I lay there wondering when I would end up there. Crazy times.
Nice old memories
I have a suggestion why you can't do the opening of the interval signal of the radios of all the countries of the world during the cold war most can be from the 50's to the 80's It's a good idea for your next video at least you can release it next week
The Vatican's sounds like Bach
Every republic: melodic sounds with, mostly, ethnic motives Lithuanian SSR: B E L L. C H A N T
I never heard the Vatican radio ident before. It's absolutely lovely. Laudate Iesus Christus!

interesting how Italy is just birds, then "RAI - RadioTelevisione Italiana."
They still do the bird sound before regional news on *Radio3
@@LetsFixTechnologyAt least they kept that tradition.
Finland sounds like c418
Reminds me of stereotypical music across Europe
That's precisely why those stations used those pieces.
This is a brilliant compendium! I heard these as a kid in the 1970s as my father waited for the approaching time and propagation. My favorite was West Germany, and so glad to now know the tweets of the bird were Italy. Thanks much from an radio engineer in Virginia USA.
Those RAI "birds" were quite peculiar. Especially because I read somewhere these are actually sounds made by a machine and not a recording of real birds.
My favorite is Soviet Union, Sweden and East Germany. Ah, I miss the good old days of shortwave radio.
Soviet <3
the 20th century is actually sooo melancholic, thank you for this important and interesting historical material
Am a Cold War nerd, so, thanks for the upload.
I love them all so much, despite being relatively similar they all have their own distinct and recognisable charm. The Slavic and middle-asian ones sound nostalgic and slightly creepy, could almost fit into a horror game of some sort, the baltic ones have the vibe of a sea shanty and the Lithuanian one straight up sounds like ship bells chiming. The Caucasian ones sound the most melancholic and nostalgic to me (Probably because I myself am Georgian), it's almost like notes themselves crying.
Yep dude Salam Gamarjoba from Azerbaijan

Here in Estonia, people used to tune in to YLE to break the USSR censorship. Cool stuff!
Unbased as they were following the likes of radio free Europe which then adovoacged for fkn shock therapy and that's how u got modern e europe. Drunks drug addicts barbarism and dis unity to the the ruling class. The ussr and East collapsed with Krustachev to Goebachev and its captlsim and the help of the cia.
Another one of these? Anyways love the USSR!
What were these used for
For Identifications mostly But also to inform other stations that this frequency is in use
Unlike the US, European radio required stations to have a formal identity code played on air on a certain schedule to make finding stations easier on an analog radio. Such things weren't common on US radio, where instead broadcasters would make up individual and stylized "jingles."
@@johnroscoe2406 weird since I've been living in Europe my whole life and it's my first time hearing of this
@@super---. Yeah that is weird. Good thing I'm not wrong nor making this up then.
@@super---.Yes, these are from the 70s and 80s. London Calling is used in a Clash song.
