Track 21 is just so different than the rest of them. It's got a grandeur to it that few recordings of Russia's national anthem seem to radiate. By far, the most unique rendition of an Alexander Alexandrov classic that I have heard.

Fun fact for ya: Russia wasn't always associated with just Alexander Alexandrov's greatest hit that has become their national anthem for all but nine of the last 86 years. Prior to 1936 they were just like any nation at the time since 1776, trying to recreate the impossible magic of America's modern independence, but when they killed the last vestiges of their foundation in the Romanov and Imperial dynasties they lost themselves and never found their way again. Cause of Death: Bolsheviks. And, no, it wasn't Vladimir Lenin's fault.

Slight disagreement here. The US anthem tells of our creation and defense of our nation through 2 wars against the greatest superpower/empire of the time. We and our anthem are still here 200+ years later and the only current superpower of the time. However the Russian anthem is my second favorite, then the German anthem. Our 3 country's anthems blow all the others out of the water.

The USSR has great architecture (concrete flats, and concentration camps [gulags]), and great food (air), and did a great job at keeping a good public view (by sending to gulags to work to death anyone who voiced their opinion or committed a minor offence). To call it a beautiful nation with great legacy is an insult to those who were brutally murdered by its Iron fist. Granted, the music is pretty fire
