- Gary Oak is known for being Ash Ketchum's first rival, a great Pokemon Trainer, and an upcoming Pokemon Researcher. And though he's had quite a few appearances in the original Pokemon anime series, the Diamond and Peal anime, and hopefully in Pokemon Journeys! We have never gotten see Gary in the games. So what if Gary did appear in the Pokemon games? What Pokemon would he have in each of the respective regions and what would his team be?

My favorite Kanto Gym Leader is a tie between Brock and Misty.

How comes Gary grows up and Ash doesn’t? Gary went from the cocky grandson of one of the most famous Pokemon professors and a bit of a bully to an almost humble, down to earth Pokemon researcher.
He should've had Eevee instead of Golem on his team for Kanto imo. Also, do Paul next! He has some of the most Pokemon of any rival, I think almost as much as Gary.

@@evasiuk he also had an Eevee, and it was one of his main Pokemon during the Orange Island arc. It even beat Ash's Pikachu in a 1v1 post Orange League.

In Kalos, Gary can have a Carbink as well to research it to find it how a carbink turned into a Diancie.
If you give Gary Vivillon in Kalos, you kinda have to give him Alcremie in Sword and Shield.

I think that all your team choices were good and my favourite was Gary’s Sinnoh team and I have two additions for his Kalos team His Blastoise would Mega Evolve Since Professor Sycamore researches Mega Evolution and I’m Sure Gary would want to research that too and for his Galar team You could give him A GMax Pokemon since Professor Magnolia researches Gigantamax so Gary May research that too like give him GMax Flapple and Appleturn for his different teams or when he Visits the Ise of Armour he could give his Blastoise some Max Soup to make it Gigantamax.

Tbh, this is too hard to tell. To say Gary would have only a single team of six when he's been known to capture bunches of pokemon a rotate regularly. I guess these would be his league teams 👍
Xurkitree doesn't have a counterpart, unless you say Blacephalon, but that means Stakataka has no counterpart

Hey guys listten im actully doing a series called pokemon the ultimate timeline wich is me remaking the pokemon games and ill present my series as videos like pokemon cardinal speaking of wich i also added pokemon cardinal and pokemon insurgence to the series along side the anime characters so yeah and also the is a pokemon Z and instead of calem and serena the protagonist are ASH and serena and the story changes a lil bit if you chose serena as the protagonist and gary or shuana as the rival and im doing if ash was a in the adventure manga and if you want to know more about my series wait until i get my resources later.

I think Gary should have meaner or edgy Pokémon cuz he’s snarky to Ash sometimes like Zoroark, Weavile, Toxtricity or Ceruledge for their respective regions.

I would have given Him a Reuniclus or Beheyem, Volcarona a Zoroark or a Druddigon. ( Since Haxorus belongs to Dreyden and Iris and Hydragon is best with Ghetsis).
I honestly would have given Gary Electabuzz in Hoenn. For the sake of phasing in the Electavire.
Gary should be more op character than ash, due to his calmness, profound abiliy, having prof oak as grandpa and talent in commanding pokemon.

Sirfetchd and Rapidash our counterparts. Version exclusives. Two stage evolutions. Fighting versus psychic/fairy. Knight versus horse/unicorn. I thought that was obvious.

*WHY* would only a specific set of Pokémon be in a team in each region? I doubt that Gary would lose the balls with other Pokémon, so he could be changing the team whenever he wanted, right?

Well, Blue's a former Champion and currently a Gym Leader, so I'm going with him.
I don't think Gary should've had a scyther on his team, due to the fact that scizor is a trade evolution. That means it most likely wasn't originally his, and as scizor didn't exist in gen 1 with the fact that we only ever see him with scizor and not scyther, I think it's safe to assume he did not use a scyther.
It's possible that he could have done a tradeback.
Brock, Misty, Trip and Paul all have trade-evolution Pokemon too, but still own them and are the original trainers.
Tradebacks have been done in the anime before
