- Ace or Signature Pokemon tend to be a significant member of many trainer's Pokemon teams! Whether it's Ash-Greninja or Lucario for Ash in the anime, to Pikachu or Charizard for Red in the games! Gym Leaders, Champions, Elite 4 Members, Rivals, Evil Team Leaders and all sort of other Pokemon Trainers. Sometimes characters are even defined by these special Pokemon that they own. Usually these ace Pokemon come from the generation that the trainer debuted in, but what if these trainers had access to Pokemon of every generation? Would their signature Pokemon be the same as the ones they have then? Or would they have a different one? I wanted to ask that question, and in today's video... I go about giving all the Gym leaders from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh new signature Pokemon from across all 8 generation of Pokemon!

Not really. Only in his GSC Elite Four matches (or HGSS pre-postgame matches) he uses 3 bugs, but he still uses 3 poison types. In the rest of his matches, though, he is packed with poison types.
Anyway, I agree that Accelgor is really nice for Koga, since it fits the ninja theme :)

Um... Flannery would work with Typhlosion, given the connection to the Volcano and Eruption is really good on Typlosion, so it feels like a better fit than the sporty Cinderace.

If it were up to me I'd probably give clien cress and chilli the Unova stater's unevolved and later fully evolved when changeling them to a rematch as it would be the only subject for there elemental monkey's and having them be a tepig snivy and oshawott would be a good nod to pancia pampore and pansiege

Chuck - Emboar
Falkner - Mandibuzz
Wattson - Rotom
Janine - Alolan Sandslash
Flannery - Darmanitan
and Wishiwashi for Juan.
you could also say that oricorio links to ecruteak city since the city itself has the kimono girls event in the eucruteak dance theatre fitting with oricorio's dancer ability as well. Nice vid btw and will be waiting for future episodes!

Gardenia should have had mower form rotom,cause it's a grass/ghost type,a lawn mower kinda fits her theme,and rotom can be found in the haunted mansion we see her starring at sometimes,which is located right next to her city.

Loving this look on the gym leaders aces. I would think that Gourgeist would have been a better fit for Gardenia but can see how Trevanent works with Eterna city being next to the forest.

For Erika: Lurantus (Has kimono in its design and is feminine which fits Erika.)
For Jasmine: Mawile (It just fits with her design. I can’t come up with another reason.)
For Clare: Salamence (I believe it fits with Clare’s prideful nature.)
For Flannery: Coalossal (In saunas, you pour water on heated rocks in steam rooms for relaxation. Coalossal’s design looks similar to it. And as a reference to the hot springs in Lavaridge Town, Coalossal could use Scald in its move set.)
For Volkner: Vikavolt (It’s one of the strongest electric type Pokémon, and it matches with his design.)

Not sure about Misty. Golisipod is too rough around the edges and not water-y enough. Kingdra seems pretty fitting since she has a Horsea in the anime. Politoad is also a good one from the anime. But in my opinion the best option is Floatzel. Her gym is a simple pool and making her ace a lifeguard is just PERFECT

I think there's one problem I don't like and it's that a trainer doesn't seem to fit well with a different Ace that happens to be the existing ace of another trainer. I don't think anyone would see Golisopod with Misty than Guzma or Salazzle with Janine rather than Plumeria. I also don't really like giving Gym Leaders an ace of another leader. For instance, Electivire is Volkner's ace and it fits him way more due to being a strong Sinnoh Electric Type and Excadrill is Clay's ace and it fits his mining theme much more than Jasmine, in fact it would be better to Byron than Jasmine.
Here are my changes:
Misty - Golduck or Primarina (we all know how much Misty is associated with mermaids)
Lt. Surge - Jolteon (I feel like it could be like his 'dog-esque' partner that followed him through thick and thin. Boltund could also work)
Janine - Beedrill (Mega Beedrill with Janine sounds cool. It's another sneaky Poison Type that can be aggressive too)
Falkner - Noctowl (It's the Johto regional bird, why Skarmory over Noctowl?)
Jasmine - Alolan Sandslash (It's pretty and cool, just like Jasmine)
Roxanne - I think Stonjouner (It's basically a Pokemon based on a rock landmark)
Volkner - Magnezone is an obvious choice (It's a Gen 4 new Electric Type and it's a machine, which Volkner adores since he built most of Sunyshore City's electric systems. Rotom could also work)
You'll see as you watch the rest of the videos that if I don't make other ace Pokemon avalaible in this series, then we'll run out of viable Pokemon very, very quickly
I really liked where you're going with this! While remember much about some of them I think the choices you gave were given a LOT of thought and I respect that.
But... if two different gym leaders can have Toxtricity, why can't Flannery have a classic Darmanitan from Unova? Fast, aggressive, guerrilla tactics could be really cool for her as a fast and furious, beginner friendly sweeper (Flannery isn't really known for fighting like a seasoned gym leader), but I could also picture her fuming at her Darm if he transforms into Zen Mode, creating a dynamic that in a way that that Cinderace can't match.
You gave Erika my favorite pokemon so you get my nod of approval for this video
I would have given Giovanni a Honchkrow because they are both based on mafia bosses.

I personally think that Morty should've had a Mismagius. He could've (or did) use a Misdreavus as a 4th gym leader, plus Morty having that purple aesthetic, he also has a small cloak just like Mismagius.
Lurantis fits best for Erika than Lilligant because it's literally a Kimono-themed Grass Type. I also think Greninja's perfect for Koga. It may not be a Poison type, but it still learns Gunk Shot and Toxic.

Since his gimmick was as an actor Brycen in Unova needed Mr. Rime as his signature more. It fits the acting characteristic like it was made for him. I think mamoswine or froslass would fit better here.
Galarian Darmanitan is doubly genius because in the anime she had this ice cream thing with hot sauce in it she liked and Zen mode turns Darmanitan into ice/fire
Falkner should have the hoot hoot line and or the Xatu line on his team since they're literally around Violet City
Now that I think about it volkners ace could be toxtricity because kukiu and Olivia both have different Luca rock forms as aces

I think Altaria is a good choice for Clair. It's friendly, its sleek and blue (she does like sleek, blue pokemon), it's a dragon type, and it can Mega Evolve.
Also in regards to Gardenia, before you even mentioned the grass/ghost thing I knew exactly what pokemon I'd have given her, and it too is a grass/ghost pokemon...Decidueye is what I'd have given her.
Yes I agree with Altaria anyways being a good choice. But I would've stuck to either Trevenant or Gourgiest for Gardenia cause Decidueye while it might be a ghost doesn't look scary enough to scare her haha
@@HybridHero That's a fair point. If I may drop a counter point: if she is scared of the idea of a Grass/Ghost type Decidueye might be a good way to help her get over her fears (and learn know that not all ghost types are scary) on account of it not being super scary (especially if raised from a Rowlett).
But to be honest I chose it more for her outfit. It gives me a Robin Hood/Woodland Ranger kinda vibe which totally fits with Decidueye.
I do think if you were to limit it to the scarier grass/ghost types, Trevenant is the best choice. Phantump is cute enough to help her ease into the idea while Trevenant is scary enough to make for an intimidating ace. Gourgeist is still too cute, and Dhelmise might just be too scary (and aquatic despite not being a water type).
I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
Some of these are choices, especially the Whitney one. Like some their original or partner Pokemon meant sense Lore wise like Gardenia, Roark, Misty etc

If I were to suggest which Main pokemon is perfect for Gym leaders, here are my suggestions & ideas:
for Brock, here are his possible ace Pokemon: Rhyperior, Alolan Golem (I agree with), Sudowoodo or Aerodactyl (with Aerodactylite)
My preferred ace for Brock is Rhyperior because of its signature move, Rock Wrecker & the ability I chose would be Solid Rock, which weakens opponents' Super-Effective attacks
Rhyperior's moveset: Rock Wrecker, Drill Run, Metal Burst & Shadow Claw
for Misty, here are her possible ace Pokemon: Golisipod (nothing wrong), Vaporeon, Kingdra, Gorebyss, Huntail, Milotic, Simipour, Basculegion or Primarina
for Misty's ace, I'd go for Milotic because of its bulkier Special Defense & can counter special attackers with Mirror Coat, for the ability, I chose Marvel Scale to boost its low defense by equipping the Flame Orb item
Miltoic's moveset: Mirror Coat, Hydro Pump, Ice Beam & Dragon Breath
Possible ace Pokemon for Lt. Surge: Electivire (perfect candidate), Magnezone, Jolteon, Rotom (depends on chosen form), Manectric (with Manectite), Eelektross, Luxray or Alolan Raichu
My chosen ace for Lt. Surge is: Magnezone, because of its high defense & low speed, chosen ability would be, Sturdy in order to survive a Instant-Kill attack, especially if its a Ground attack, which Magnezone is 4x weak against
Magnezone's moveset: Magnet Rise (to help it avoid its 4x weakness to Ground), Zap Cannon, Lock-On & Gyro Ball
possible ace candidates for Erika: Lilligant (matches well with her ;)), Hisuian Lilligant, Whimsicott, Arboliva, Leafeon, Maractus, Sunflora, Meganium, Breloom, Roserade, Roselia (with Eviolite) or Tropius
my chosen ace for Erika: Lilligant or Hisuian Lilligant, because I think a Pokemon from the Hisui region might be more fitting, as for Unovan Lilligant, it does matches Erika gym theme of all-female species, as for abilities, the Unovan Lilligant's ability would be Chloropyhll, because it allows Lilligant to speed up in sunlight & holding it Heat Rock increases Sunny Day's 5-turn duration to 8-turn duration, for Hisuian Lilligant's ability, I chose the same ability as Unovan Lilligant
Unovan Lilligant moveset: Sunny Day (can be extended with Heat Rock item), Solar Beam, Synthesis & Quiver Dance
Hisuian Lilligant moveset: Sunny Day (can be extended with Heat Rock item), Solar Blade, Axe Kick & Victory Dance
Janine's ace candidates: Salazzle (which fits for a female Gym Leader), Alolan Muk, Johtonian Qwilfish, Overqwil, Clodsire, Tentacruel, Skuntank, Drapion, Scolipede, Sneasler, Garbodor, Toxtricity or Glimmora
here are my 3 possible aces for Janine: Salazzle, which fits Janine's team well & the Corrosion ability does help it inflict Poison status on every type, Overqwil, for its Psychic immunity, though still has a Ground weakness, it can deal deadly damage to opponents, the ability fitting for Overqwil would be, Intimidate, which lowers opponent's Attack stat, & the last is Sneasler, because of its deadly Speed & Poison attacks, compared to Weavile's Speed & Dark attacks, ability would be Poison Touch, which makes its contact moves poisoning its opponents, even if those attacks are not Poison-Type, though its 4x weakness to Psychic-Type means its gotta hold the Payapa Berry to weaken a Super-Effective Psychic-Type attack
Salazzle's moveset: Toxic, Venoshock, Flamethrower & Fake Out
Overqwil's moveset: Barb Barrage, Crunch, Liquidation & Self-Destruct
Sneasler's moveset: Dire Claw, Low Kick, Bulk Up & Shadow Claw
Sabrina's possible ace candidate: Hypno, Gardevoir (with Gardevoirite), Gallade (with Galladite), Reuniclus, Gothitelle (I agree),, Galarian Mr. Mime (with Eviolite), Hisuian Braviary, Wyrdeer, Espeon, Metagross (with Metagrossite), Farigiraf or Grumpig
Sabrina's chosen ace would be: while I agree with Gothitelle, my chosen ace for Sabrina is Gothitelle's counterpart, Reuniclus, because Reuniclus has higher Special Attack, but very low speed, then helping it to make the 1st turn with Trick Room makes it OP, the ability would be Magic Guard, which gives Reuniclus immunity to non-attacking moves like Stealth Rock, Spikes, Poison & Burn
Reuniclus' moveset: Trick Room, Stored Power, Calm Mind & Confuse Ray

my 2 chosen aces for Blaine would be: Magmortar, I agree with the fact that Blaine had a Magmar in the anime, so I'm ok with Magmortar, Magmortar's ability would be Flame Body, which burns Physical Attackers to compensate Magmortar's low Defense stat & my other chosen ace would be Alolan Marowak, because I think having a Kanto Pokemon in an Alolan Form might be ideal, as for the ability, I'd go for Cursed Body, which will disable an opponent's move, which can also disable a Super-Effective attack, combined with the held item Thick Club, this makes Aloan Marowak OP
Magmortar's moveset: Solar Beam (combined with either Sunny Day or Power Herb) Fire Blast, Mach Punch (finishes foes with nearly 1 HP) & Focus Blast

Giovanni's 5 possible ace candidates are: Krookodile (I agree), Garchomp, Rhyperior, Donphan or Diggersby
Giovanni's 2 chosen aces would be: Krookodile, becuase of its intimidating looks & the ability Intimidate, however, I'd got for the ability Moxie, which increases Attack stat for every KO, which makes it OP & Donphan, because it's more bulkier in the Defense stat, & its ability Sturdy should help it survive against stronger Special Attackers
Krookodile's moveset: Crunch, Earthquake, Stone Edge & Spite
Donphan's moveset: Bulldoze, Fire Fang (to counter Grass & Ice types), Head Smash (to counter Ice & Flying types) & Ice Shard (to KO foes who are nearly KOed)
Blue's ace candidates: Scizor (nothing wrong, should give it Scizorite to Mega Evolve), Tyranitar, Umbreon, Kingler, Gyarados or Mightyena
my chosen ace for Blue: Mightyena, because of its intimidating looks, seeing Blue doesn't have any Hoenn-based team in HG/SS rematches, I'd give him Mightyena, ability would be Quick Feet, which helps it outspeed foes with Paralysis ailment
Mightyena's moveset: Crunch, Facade (works well with Paralysis+Quick Feet combo), Fire Fang (counters Bug-Types) & Play Rough (counters Fighting-types)
ace candidates for Falkner: Skarmory (I agree), Noctowl, Crobat, Honchkrow, Talonflame, Unfezant, Swanna, Dodrio, Toucannon, Corviknight & Altaria
Falkner's chosen ace: while I agree for Skarmory, my preferred choice would be, Honchkrow, because I'd think his ace should be a different dual-type with Flying-type, so I think a Dark/Flying ace suits well in my opinion, regarding abilties, I'd choose between Super Luck or Moxie, Super Luck increases chances of critical hits, combos well with the held items Scope Lens or Razor Claw, Moxie is to give Honchkrow Attack boosts after KOing foes
Honchkrow's moveset: for the Super Luck ability: Night Slash, Sky Attack, Heat Wave (to counter Ice-types) & Shadow Ball
for the Moxie ability: Drill Peck, Faint Attack (learned from Murkrow), Astonish & Confuse Ray

It's a big powerful intimating Pokemon, but it also has parts that resemble Jewelry like Starme. Also as a Water/Poison type it counters those nasty grass types. And she did mention liking the Pokemon in the anime at least twice.
Actually, I had TWO ideas. Darmanitan for Flannery! It's a simple powerful hot-headed Pokemon like she is. And Darmanitan bing a physical fire type fits her if you ask me.
I feel like mortys ace should be mismagius. Misdrevus is the only gen 2 ghost, mismagius is pretty strong and has aspects to its design that look like mortys scarf.

I like to think about what my ace would be. I'd be a Dragon type gym leader, but Lance took my favorite Dragon type, Dragonite. My second favorite is Flygon, but my parents would never let my have a Trapinch. Iris/Drayden have Haxorus, and Cynthia has Garchomp. After some thinking my ace would be Mega Ampharos!
Falkner could also have either a Noctowl or a Dodrio since he has a hoothoot and a dodrio in the anime

The only ones I disagree with are Clair and Maylene. I personally see Clair having a Dragonair as her most powerful mainly because it's a lot like kingdra color wise and is beautiful like Clair. Tbh, I think misty's ace should be Milotic, she could have a bug type, which would be cool, but not as her ace. Her personality as a gym leader is more magnificent and beautiful water types, this drastic change wouldn't make sense.
