The GoW 1 + 2 Novel made a great job in regards to World Building and lore. Huge insights into Kratos character and his past. Same with Zeus, Athena and some other Gods, it gave them many chapters and showed their characters, how Olympus works, etc. Same thing in GoW 2 Novel for the Sisters of Fate and also Gaia. Novels give the Greek saga that extra load of mythology and world building, anyone who doesnt know them misses out.
If we ever get a Remake of GOW, the extra things from the novels (like Athena's POV during GOW1) would probably be added as Video in the *Treasures* section, much like GOW Ghost of Sparta's Videos. Kratos' Tattoo origins and Deimos' POV during his stay in Domain of Death wasn't the main attention in the main game, so they got relegated as extra Videos you can freely view. As for the changed parts (like the Dungeon Master Architect), I don't know. But I know that if it doesn't involve gameplay, it will not happen. But it is great for a movie plot.
a really good advantage of a remake is you can make a game from scratch and do some changes or add some things to make it the modern definative version of it. so the answer is yes

@@mournvil22 Zeus knew about Kratos journey to the Box, arguably before Athena herself did. Its a thing from the Novel basically that only Zeus Lightning can retrieve the Box, any mortal without it is doomed to fail. And Zeus gave Kratos his Lightning before the Oracle disclossed her knowledge to Kratos and Athena. Its in line with the other Novel plot point that Zeus forsaw the future, Kratos death against Ares and therefore dug the grave and while he was at it he gave Kratos his Bolts to ensure success in the Temple.
@@vlad_47 but you forget the point the novels are secondary canon they are canon if what they say is somewhat true in game but in this case zeus wants Kratos dead and yes it is because of the evils and stuff but put yourself as zeus why would zeus even help Kratos release the evils zeus stored in the box so that they can not be released
As you said these details would work perfectly in a movie or a tv show, but a shifting temple sound an amazing idea for a video game. I wouldn't mind if the add something like this in the "remake"
These novels actually sound great. I've never read them and I didn't realise they added so much new content to the games. I'll need to check them out! Thanks Kuba!
Actually, I would want more moments from the God of War novels included in a hypothetical remake. Like the fact that Athena was helping Kratos in the background, by convincing the other Gods of Olympus to lend their aid. That alone would recontextualize the convenient power-ups that Kratos received from the gods throughout the course of his journey. Of course, I doubt they'll ever do such a thing, but it's fun to imagine regardless.
I also have the novels of GoW 1-2 and 2018. These can add so much background and lore, to get a better understanging of the story of a game. Next I'm going to read Alien: Isolation novel, now I'm playing the game preparing for the new movie: Alien: Romulus and will start the book soon. But GoW books will always have a special place in my shelf.
I mean, it's way easy to write a better story of an existing one over creating a new one. Not saying the novels aren't great anything, just saying that it's easier when a story is done and finished to correct any mistakes or add more substance to it.
I almost felt insulted when Kuba said "then you never use it" and "it's not fun to use" about the spear of destiny from GoW 2 because i actually liked it

Hi Kaptain, I have made this. What do you think of It? • Kratos design is exactly the same as in the first GoW game • The gods in this Game are depicted accurately, mostly Hades. • The legionary soldiers should eat their victims • replace Gorgon's eyes with Gorgon's blood • Instead of Poseidon giving an electric power, he gives you an earthquake power. • replace the Hydra with Scylla and Charybdis, instead of saying "aegean sea" replace It with "Strait of Messina" • The reason because Zeus forbade the Gods from waging war on each other is because of the Trojan War. • This is based on the Peloponnesian War, so there are spartans on this area. So, more dilema for Kratos. Also since It lasted 30 years, we can say that when Kratos left Athens to the Temple and came back from Hades, 30 years passed. • No minotaurs, except the one in Pandora's Temple • Instead of Aphrodite, it's Athena the one that tells you to kill Medusa. • Instead of killing Medusa, Queen of the Gorgons, Kratos cuts Euryale's head and then Athena makes her dissapear, Euryale's will heal up anyway. But there is no, Gorgons lesser monsters as enemies. Also Euryale doesn't have snake body, he has Snake hair and wings, his body is human-like. • In this game, Deimos, Phobos, Kydoimos, Eris and Enyo appear along with Ares and are also bosses. • Ares appearance is redesigned too look more like in the myths, mostly the Greek ones. • Ares also uses his chariot. • If there is monsters from the underworld. Is because Hades can't do nothing since Hades can't wage war on Ares. • The Zeus Lightning bolts are made by hepheastus, they are limited, you can recharge them when entering a saving file. • There is no Temple of the Oracle in Athenas, only a well. And no statues of Nike. • The Pandora's box is not a box, but a Pithos Jar. • Instead of the Evils of the World being released from Pandora's box, it's the hope that was released instead of being the one remained. Also, Pandora opened the Box and released the Evils of the World before hand. • Kratos doesn't say "A Titan Lives?" • Instead of the Desert of Lost Souls, Kratos travels to an Island in the Mycenaean Strait for the sirens show the way. And then, he goes to Lemnos. • The Sirens are now accurate. • For the sake of the plot, The Temple of Pandora and Cronos having It on his back is there, but It is said that Cronos is ginormus because of a spell of Zeus. But at the end of the game, it is revealed that Cronos was sent to Tartarus and chopped up just like in myths, because of Kratos retrieving the box, also his size went normal. • Instead of a sword, Artemis gives us a replica of her Silver Bow and Arrows. And she wasn't on the Titanomachy. • Hades doesn't have a shield • Zeus shield doesn't exist, it's passed down to Athena and has the face of Medusa. • No Cerberus lesser enemies. • Poseidon's Trident is a ceremonial replica, that can't be used as a weapon but It makes the user unable to drown if held. • Instead of Sand, the blessings are from electricity. • Centaurs doesn't have Barraka's style faces. • The Undead Minotaur boss fight is exactly the same. • Satyrs are controled by Ares, that's why their Eyes glow. Dionisius can't do anything because of Zeus forbiding the gods of having war on each other. • Pandora's Pythos Jar is not Big. After the cover opens, a pillar lifts It up so Kratos can take It. • Athena says instead "You are the first mortal to ever reach Pandora's box, since Pandora opened It." • When Kratos dies, Hermes helps him to go to the shores of Hades river styx. • Since Kratos has no money, Charon denies him, but since he is send by the gods, he has a pass. • Also Hades (place) looks accurately to the myths, and not like in the original. • Kratos fights Cerberus but when Kratos is near to kill him, Hades interviens and let's Kratos go with the condition of please killing Ares. • Ares doesn't have Spider legs out of his back. • Ares blood is Golden Ichor. Not red. • The Throne of Ares is at the top of Mount Olympus along with the other 12 gods in a semicircle form, also Hestia's bonfire is in the center. • Then Kratos becames the God of War just like in the original God of War. Cut Content: • Icarus replica wings level • Mountain the Titan level. • Harpy Queen boss • Labyrinth • Elevator level. • beta Kratos designs as skins for Kratos. Sequels • Reimagined God of War: Ghost of Sparta • Reimagined God of War II • Reimagined God of War III

And that's because the games must be exactly like the old ones but with modern graphics. Not a single censorships, not a single DEI, and not a single foreign developer! Every single person that worked in the original games must work on the remakes as well. That way we will get the exact same experience as back then with all the details of the book in them.
@@vlad_47 Why do people keep saying this, there's literally nothing in those games that would be that offensive or controversial today. Gore, nudity, and mature themes in video games were more controversial back then.
I personally think remakes are better when they add something new to the original without completely deviating from the source. It's almost like a reimagining of a game instead of a remake. A remake to me is just making a 1:1 copy with updated graphics or gameplay, but a reimagining takes it further and adds new story elements, new gameplay mechanics, and basically overall makes the game in the way it would've been made if it was a modern game. So yes, I would absolutely love for them to add new stuff in a GoW remake. We've already played the games a million times, give us something new! A graphical update is fine too, but more GoW content and a richer experience is what I want. On a side note, I really wish proper large scale reimaginings become a trend at some point. There's so much untapped potential in it. Imagine seeing the original GoW but with a completely different story, with the spirit of the game intact. It's like the Marvel's "What if?" series. Change up the story completely and make a complete reimagining of the story. That's not what I want for the remakes of GoW, but it's just an example. A lot of classic games could be completely reimagined and they would be great with the right writing.
Unrelated to vid btw. I saw a theory that the original gow 3 story might still be followed but alot slower. In the og plan kratos kills all pantheons in the game and kratos along with his norse & egyptian counterparts(Tỳr and Montu) become the 3 wise men. In ragnarok we meet Tỳr. Now we just need an egyptian game to meet Montu.
Haven’t read the God Of War novels or comic books for that matter. But they sound cool tho 💪😎🔥 (Edit: I did watched your reviews for God Of War Fallen God and they were fun to watch)
I really have a big question in my mind i hope someone will answer me, why in God of war Ragnarök, the developers or directors didn't add the Vidarr he was also son of Odin, and according to the mythology of norse, Vidarr killed Fenrir and also escaped from the Ragnarök so why they didn't add him to the game? Please answer I'll appreciate it❤
Hello Kaptain, it has nothing to do with the video but did you know that originally the kraken that appears before we get on the phoenix was seen as the boss of Atlantis? You probably already knew that but if you didn't know there is a video from a programmer from gow on youtube
@@KaptainKubaGod of War II - Lost Level "Atlantis" I checked it out and I think it has more interesting things, like trailers for the PSP games and interviews with Gow II developers
> Do you want them to add something new to the games in the remakes. Simple answer: No, just do a graphical remake and take a chill or even just port the games to PS5 with some QoL changes. Complicated answer: From what I can see the new writers or even a few old developers (those who weren't directing or writing in the old games) that took the mantle of directing the new games do have a different understanding of some or a lot of things in Greek games. My observation is based upon the references of Greek games I see in the Norse games. Their "understanding" seems different to me. So the same people working on remakes, I don't think will be able to provide a remake where the writing is exactly the same. That's just about the writing part, you goto other things like the mechanics of the games, they might be intending to change that, which I don't really want. You could argue they can give the remakes to another studio to remake, in that case aswell if they are instructed to change mechanics and the writing/stories of the games they most likely are going to mess it up.
Hey kuba got kinda a weird question and I may even answer it myself, so it shows how after every god is killed throughout every game there are consequences for example when kratos killed Poseidon the seas flooded and so on, so my question is how come in GOW2 nothing happened after kratos’s death? Is it because his power was in the sword or is it because Zeus had complete control over the situation AT that moment?
Idk I couldn't get myself to like the novels. I was extremely hyped to read them until I finished the first one and was so bored that I couldn't care to read the second one (which I really did what to read as it adapts my favourite GoW). Fighting most of the time is fine in a game, but definitely not in a book.
@@vlad_47The Olympus chapters are great, as well as the lore but If I need to suffer through lots of pages with painfully repetitive fighting, then I simply can't care. I also hate what they did to Kratos. They turned a broken man desperate for freedom, into a bland physcho who kills random people even though he really doesn't need to, pointlessly yells something like "Grr, damn the gods! I hoped for something good but instead I find this skeleton! I'm gonna pull its head of out of anger! Also why are you guys giving me so many new weapons? I don't need them!" He even does evil laughing and smirking when enemies appear at times. It's as If the authors saw Kratos smile at the undead in the sacrifice room and thought that the scene was something they should take notes of, instead of ignoring it cuz it was literally just there to replace the original version for the European copies.
@@astralchaos3441 Huh? Kratos in the novels is the same as in the games. Just with extra dialogue and insights into his mindset as he goes along his journey. Kratos was never just some wronged family man, thats not the vision from GoW 2005 and the novelization was right to double down on that. As for the fighting, yeah it gets repetitive but thats what the games are for. The Lore for both Kratos and whats happening on Olympus during his quest, is way too great to just miss out.
The Novels (at least of the first 2 games, GoW4 is so big there is less details in the book for once) in my opinion are always better than the games as far stories go Only issue is how Kratos is crippled by the same gameplay limitations as before without the context of it being a gameplay, meaning he will be a guy who can fight Gods and such but struggle with lesser beats and enemies or can't get past a simple wall he realistically could just pass through by sheer force for no reason beside "plot" And a lot of the equipment that would help him in battle is just no used because it would make things too easier
Yes, but there are also other instances like how Kratos just rushed through like 300 monsters in Athens after Zeus' Fury empowered and amped him up. Sure, sometimes it focuses too much on Kratos taking down some Cyclops or Minotaurs, but there are also many instances where he just stomps right through them.
@@vlad_47 I agree, it's just that it's not consistent and that's my issue Instead of finding a way to justify why Kratos struggle so much later on rather than saying the enemies have a specific counter to his powers or they're too strong even with said powers he just don't use them and fist fight them for whatever reason It does bother me, but ultimately doesn't the detract from the overall experience
I feel like the og games would feel useless if the stiry gets obstructed by the remakes. The remakes should be(brutal hot take) the greek games with the current formula.
I always try to urge people to read or listen to the novels alot of the criticisms people have about the greek games are answered in the novels

Now we just need an egyptian game to meet Montu.
man i get so happy when u upload
Haven’t read the God Of War novels or comic books for that matter. But they sound cool tho 💪😎🔥
(Edit: I did watched your reviews for God Of War Fallen God and they were fun to watch)
Search for it on youtube someone posted someone posted the audiobooks for free
I really have a big question in my mind i hope someone will answer me, why in God of war Ragnarök, the developers or directors didn't add the Vidarr he was also son of Odin, and according to the mythology of norse, Vidarr killed Fenrir and also escaped from the Ragnarök so why they didn't add him to the game? Please answer I'll appreciate it❤
What’s the theme sound that you use when you are talking?
Hello Kaptain, it has nothing to do with the video but did you know that originally the kraken that appears before we get on the phoenix was seen as the boss of Atlantis? You probably already knew that but if you didn't know there is a video from a programmer from gow on youtube
No I didn't know that, can you give me the video title?
@@KaptainKubaGod of War II - Lost Level "Atlantis"
I checked it out and I think it has more interesting things, like trailers for the PSP games and interviews with Gow II developers
@@HitmanHimself Yeah, Valhalla showed that they should just leave the Greek Saga alone.
"Re-contextualising" and whatever, no thanks.
Hey man big fan and I have a question do you get copy righted by posting games?(fair use is to hard to learn so I’m asking my fav gow RUclipsr)
I have a question. Couldnt Kratos go back to greece to the sisters of fate thingy so he can go back in time to kill fake tyr and save brok?
No the temple was destroyed after Kratos brought the Titans back to his timeline
any plans on livestreams ?
Hey kuba got kinda a weird question and I may even answer it myself, so it shows how after every god is killed throughout every game there are consequences for example when kratos killed Poseidon the seas flooded and so on, so my question is how come in GOW2 nothing happened after kratos’s death? Is it because his power was in the sword or is it because Zeus had complete control over the situation AT that moment?
@Kaptain Kuba, has GOW 6 Egypt been confirmed?
No IT will never be
My favorite moment in the books that didnt happen in the gamr was when kratos said “its kratos time” and kratosed all over the place
I wish there was like a mythologically accurate gow1. And it's just only that game and that's it.
Yeah, the Novel gave the Archtect a nice little chapter.
Kaptain kuba keep doing u man ur fucking amazing
They should change some things I think, also imagine if we get gow 3 remake (after 1 and 2) and they give us the original story with Deimos
No thats will kill the canon story of ghost of sparta wdym
@@deathmark1940 Yeah but wouldn't it be amazing?
Question, should Kratos’s mother have been named Metis?
Kaptain can you make more about novel pls
Anyone can tell me where i can find these novels?
Can someone reply with a link of the god of war 2 novel ? I listened to the first audiobook around 2 years ago and it was great
Just search it on youtube both novels are free
Idk I couldn't get myself to like the novels. I was extremely hyped to read them until I finished the first one and was so bored that I couldn't care to read the second one (which I really did what to read as it adapts my favourite GoW). Fighting most of the time is fine in a game, but definitely not in a book.
The chapters on Olympus are what makes it worth it, plus the much extended lore and details about Kratos.
@@vlad_47Yea the olympic stuff really shows how much they fucked with kratos
@@picassojulien899 Its not so onesided.
Name me one hero who was ever so much honored and highly rewarded as Kratos was.
I don't need them!"
He even does evil laughing and smirking when enemies appear at times.
The book has more detail for sure
very nice
The Novels (at least of the first 2 games, GoW4 is so big there is less details in the book for once) in my opinion are always better than the games as far stories go
Only issue is how Kratos is crippled by the same gameplay limitations as before without the context of it being a gameplay, meaning he will be a guy who can fight Gods and such but struggle with lesser beats and enemies or can't get past a simple wall he realistically could just pass through by sheer force for no reason beside "plot"
And a lot of the equipment that would help him in battle is just no used because it would make things too easier
@@vlad_47 I agree, it's just that it's not consistent and that's my issue
Instead of finding a way to justify why Kratos struggle so much later on rather than saying the enemies have a specific counter to his powers or they're too strong even with said powers he just don't use them and fist fight them for whatever reason
It does bother me, but ultimately doesn't the detract from the overall experience
@Nothingness4907 The reason could've been that kratos ran out of magic that's why his power was so inconsistent
Imo games & novel's books are always better , but not everybody is a reader
I feel like the og games would feel useless if the stiry gets obstructed by the remakes. The remakes should be(brutal hot take) the greek games with the current formula.
Couldn't Kratos kill Zeus then by altering his thread?
Can anyone one gives me gow1 & 2 novel free pdf link am broke
Just search it on youtube someone posted the audiobook for free
I want the games to stay the same, and I want the gameplay of the OG saga to stay the same.
