**Correction** Every time i mention the thickness, refer to the graphic - it's 14.6mm not 14.2 :) What do you think of the Tudor Black Bay Pro? Do you think the Black Bay Pro is still too close to an Explorer II or has it established itself on its own merits? Let me know what you think in the comments section!
I tried it on at the AD and it felt great! I would have bought it right there and then if they had it on the bracelet. I did get on the list for one on the bracelet, it's a hell of a deal for a GMT Explorer II style watch, at a 39 mm case size.
Great video Fred 👍 I was also quick to write this one off when I first saw it in the pictures, but I soon changed my mind and it's now one of my favourite pieces. I was lucky enough to get one on the bracelet within 4-5 weeks after the launch and I don't regret picking it up.
Oh yes, store lighting is a whole other animal...especially on dials that have gradients or textured dials, really does them no justice. Every store should have a balcony or something that you can go out to see the watch in real life lighting 😀
The ceramic lume could be a little lighter or the yellow on the gmt hand could have been more vibrant. Either way every time I look at my wrist for the time it is not as easy to distinguish between the hour and GMT hand right away. Maybe not having a snow flake for the gmt hand would have helped as well. Overall I still love it
True, or even going for a red gmt hand (since they don't use red on the Explorer II anymore) could have given some more contrast. As for the lume, maybe it's an effect of the mixing of ceramic with lume that leaves it still looking a little yellower - that or Tudor just wants to keep leaning into their vintage vibe. I haven't seen it in the metal yet but in pictures it seems the Pelagos 39 (which uses the same lume-ceramic hybrid) has lighter lume so i'm guessing its the latter and they just wanted this watch to look more vintage 🤷🏻♂️
I honestly had no the rolex version even existed so I am judging this watch purely on my first initial experience with it at the ad and I have to say that I really love this watch, I definitely plan on getting one in the near future
Honestly that's how it deserves to be judged, Tudor's put their own spin on this watch and they've more than earned the right to step out of Rolex's shadow with what they've been releasing in the last few years. Hope you get a chance to get your BB Pro soon :)
Very professional and detailed review. I’m a new subscriber now 👍🏻 I picked up my BB Pro on rubber a couple weeks ago and absolutely love it. The 39mm case fits my 7.25” wrist very comfortably. So much bang for the buck.
Great Vid Bro, love the BB Pro, first time i set my hands on its just an awesome, piece. Those indices are great, like that style as well on the new Pelagos 39. White Lume would have been cool that said its just a cool piece. Good take on this one, cheers bro
Yeah, to be honest your pictures from your hands on review were actually the first sign for me that maybe there was more to this watch than I gave it credit for - it really is a watch that's so much more than the basic pictures and the baseline stats
Yeah, the pictures and the measurements make it seem like it'd be too thick or that it looks too much like an Explorer II - but I'm happy to report that in the metal it's a different story :)
True, the 5 digit Rolexes were great when it came to proportions - I'm still not a fan of the supercase ones - but also I think that this stage Tudor's just committed to that hockey puck thicker look. They could have just added a GMT complication to their MT5402 movement if they wanted it to be thinner and closer to an Explorer II, but i think they wanted it to have it's own proportions (even if they're not as sleek as the 16570)
Yes the Rolex is 2mm slimmer but this watch slays the 16570 on every other aspect, 200m water resistance, 70 hours power reserve, a-magnetic movement, glide-lock clasp, far more robust, 10 year service interval, 5 year guarantee. It’s less than half the price so game over unless it must be a Rolex. I own this watch and the 226570 Explorer 2 and there’s nothing between them really, the thickness is a non issue on wrist it’s a sports watch.
@@Anonymouslyme1 Thickness on the wrist may not be an issue for you, but it is for me. I have no use for a travel watch that doesn't comfortably fit under a cuff, as one of my biggest requirements when traveling is discretion.
It looks, essentially, like a typical Tudor-not my style in anyway, shape or form. The snowflake is up there with the cyclops and Roman numerals in my Not for Me Hall of Fame. I do like the bezel. Agree with your larger point that pictures don’t always do a watch justice. Videos are a truer test, but still always better to see and feel in the metal. This is what makes limited editions so ‘challenging’
At first I liked it but not enough to buy. It's a solid watch for sure but honestly I feel the mother ship just wouldn't allow Tudor to encroach their halo products space
True, the mothership will always have Tudor hold back that little bit - but if you compare Tudor now to Rolex circa 2005, they're pretty comfortably occupying that same space (bar a few full precious metal models) - and i think that's the strategy, just keep pushing Rolex upmarket and have Tudor fill the space behind them
Wish they wold make a white one. I don't understand why people get up in arms if you say tudors are taking cues from rolex. That is litetally why it was founded. Further more I think that is the direction they shoul go. You can't get the rolexes so this is an acceptable way to get something very similar and actually use it as it was intented.
I guess they're still being cautious about being too close to Rolex because that was the strategy that eventually led to them having to pull out from most markets (including the US) and hit reset with the Black Bay. My guess is that they've found that sweet spot of being close to Rolex by going down the heritage-design route but not so close that they're just Rolexes with different movements. I do have do say though, I would be curious to see what a white dial version of this would look like considering that Tudor doesn't do many of them

💯 agree, honestly for that price there’s very little that can compete with it and it’s a great looking watch. Hope you get the call for yours soon :)

Great video. A friend of mine recently picked it up. The thickness is only noticeable on paper. Once you put it on, you don’t notice it at all.
💯 it really does shrink down once you put it on
True in person, especially with watches. The minute difference & low light experiences you can discern in store lighting

Great review, can’t agree more, dogged it as lazy on pictures, in the metal fell head over heels and sold half of my watch box, it’s that good
Yeah, it’s crazy how much of a difference it makes seeing it in the metal 🤯

Great watch, but unfortunately too thick.
Still, it doesn't hold a candle to a 16570 in my view for proportions and wearability, in spite of the much better clasp.

Oooh idk...for me there's a special place in design hell for the cyclops 😀
@@ShahLusso agree completely. The cyclops has its own wing in design Hell, maybe It’s own floor.

Roman numerals to the hellfire with them.

watch looks great from the top but then it's all down hill, far to thick and a stupid fake rivet bracelet.
very nice watch...but I would scratch that bezel off to death 😂😂

@victor2tube nothing but ceramic bezels for you sir 😂 i do love a steel bezel though, gives it that nice vintagey look
