- Learn how a dirty air filter can make an impact on how much horsepower your motorcycle produces. Using a dyno, we will do a few runs with a dirty air filter followed by a few with a clean one. After averaging the results we should have a clear answer on horsepower gains.
It’s important to check the health of your air filter on a regular basis. By replacing or cleaning the air filter when it’s dirty your bike will perform better.

@@timyassa4343 With bikes, little amounts of horsepower could mean 10's of km/h faster, I have two motorcycles in my garage, a 2012 Hyosung gt250 Comet and a Honda Trail CT110, my Honda CT110 is ONLY 6 HP alone, thats 100cc, it can do 50 mph, so I'd assume if I were to put my two bikes together and add 100cc to my 250cc comet it'd definitely get faster, 6 HP is a great increase for just a filter change lol

into the thrash bin of course..might as well ride without one, its constricting the airflow..the bandit 1200 air box is no bigger than the ones found in 600 I heard...I think I can get 10hp just by that..

its not only the horsepower also the gas mileage !
If it has a self adjusting mixture with o2 sensors or similar, you won't see any change. If its got a set fuel map or is carbureted then yes, it will improve fuel economy.

OMG THANKS FOR LETTING US KNOW THE NORMAL RUNNING TEMPERATURE. I JUST GOT A CBR600RR AND IT CHANGES TEMPERATURE AND I THO I WAS OVERHEATING IT. SO 205 TO 210 IS NORMAL. THANK GOD.
Newer bikes will indicate when they are overheating, my 2014 z1000 will flash the temp red and kick the fan on.
PABLO ESCOBAR yes it is very normal I got scared on my first Long ride also lol. The bikes fan kicks In at 220 and that isn't hard to do. When it is a warm. Summer day.

Love this stuff! Now without buying "new" would just air compressor (clean to dirty side when blowing) provide a massive improvement. Am I cheaping out to much lol... Great setup John!

Depends on what kind of air filter you have. If you have a K&N, the air compressor is the best -- and only option. If you have a stock air filter your best bet is just to spend the $15 and get a new one. If you're going to go to the effort of taking it out, you might as well do it right for less than 20 bucks. May I ask how dirty the dirty air filter was? I.e. was it an air filter that was dirtied intentionally...manually, or was it an old air filter that was dirty only from being ridden?

I just bought a 04 cbr600rr with 45k miles. It will only go 112mph!!! And when it's maxed out, if you Bak off the throttle just a tad, you can feel the bike lurching like it wants to go faster. I'm going to change plugs and filter but I don't see that fixing such a huge power loss. Anything info you can offer would be awesome.
Could be anything from fuel pump to ECU. Start testing components!

There are ways to make a stock exhaust louder, but you will have to drill and re-rivet the end cap. You can pull out some packing. A lot of times this turns out poorly, we feel it's better just to save up for a slip on.
Atheer Razzaq buy TOCE exhaust. Sounds awesome, looks the best, and increases acceleration awesomely! I have it on my 2012 CBR600RR. Got it at TST Industries.
how often do u need to change the filter
If your hands are skillful, in my opinion you don't need to change the air filter but to buy a sponge air filter and use it without any cost of your pocket because you can clean it with a dish washer liquid and a warm water into a basin and then let it dry. Also, if you want to use WD-40 to wring the sponge, it is a good idea and use some of your motorcycle's engine oil to lubricate the filter for the protection from the dust. A After that, just wring it again very well and place it to your filter box.
You can use it for many many miles without anxiety, and of course you'll follow these instructions.
Don't forget trouble starting with dirty one...ask me how I know

Dirty air filter can hinder your bottom end power.If you attempt to move your motorcycle in 1st gear without any throttle (just slow clutch release) and you hear a weaker engine sound, chances are you have a bad air filter (assuming your carbs are adjusted).

I have a 2000 f4 600 with a yoshi slip on ... I believe I would benefit from a higher flow air filter ..Any thoughts or suggestions ? Also I'm wanting to go with a larger rear sprocket for powering up easier ...Any thoughts and suggestions on that ?

Lot's of people change the gearing on their bikes. Just remember, the more you go up in the rear, you gain low end power but lose top end, so freeway mileage will decrease. I would suggest small adjustments.

That's completely up to the user. I always preferred K&N because you can clean and reuse. OEM filters are usually disposable.

It could. But it would have to be severely blocked. It's more likely your air/fuel mixture on the carb.

Hope y'all reply. I have a 2008 CBR600RR. I can crank it and rev it high while in neutral, I can even cruise around in 1st gear. But as soon as I start picking up speed my bike starts to die and stall out. I'll crank it again, and start riding, and it'll be fine for a while, but then it'll start dying again. Any tips or suggestions?
Mr. Freeman! I just read that whole question in your voice. This problem could be a few things. Test your regulator rectifier, it could be dying. Flipside, it could be a vacuum or vent line issue causing restricted fuel. Check all hoses for damage or cracks and be sure they are hooked up correctly. When it dies, pop your gas cap...do you hear a hiss of air? Hopefully, this will help you narrow down the issue.

Do you know the top speed of this bike stock? I have an '07 with a Yoshi RS-5 exhaust and I top out at 150 mph as indicated using a speedo app. Is this normal or should I be getting more than 150?
The Nimble Ninja usually around 160-166 but there’s also a governor if I’m not mistaken

hi i have yamaha R15s. can i remove the air filter cap and fix my air filter with only screws i like the sound when the aif filter cap is removed. but as the intake air will be more when i remove the cap will it cause any problem to my engine
Your air fuel mixture will be off. It might not run like it should.

i have a 2014 honda cbr650f what cause a high idle? will not drop below 2 . i change the air filter did not help!
Have you adjusted the idle screw at all?
I figured out the problem it was the spark plug cap was not on tight. it idles perfect now.
The cbr600rr shoud have about 120hp?! Why are the results on the dyno so low?
