I just found out that the person who looked at my cars air filter broke the clips that hold down the housing and therefore causing debris to come into the manifold. Never trust an idiot.
I am cool with a idiot - but don't be a dishonest idiot - just let me know that you broke my sh*t, so I can get it fixed or replace it - there is nothing wrong with mistakes as long as the person owns up to it (just my opinion)
that happen to me at a Take5 oil change . didn’t tell me anythin, didn’t think he even knew how take it out . looks like they forced to open it, when normal way it easy to take off
Can a bad air filter cause overheating I’ve change out a lot of my coolent systems parts already and it happens once in awhile turned out to be a head gasket lol 😂

I’m late but this has no effect on it. This just filters the air your engine sucks in, unrelated to your hvac. This is either an electrical issue or simply how your car is designed
Fuel injected engines meter the correct amount of fuel for the air flow. A clogged air filter will reduce performance, but not decrease fuel economy. An older carbureted car will have increased fuel usage with a clogged filter.
I have a 2012 Honda CRV and my air filter was definitely affecting my fuel efficiency. When I took out my old air filter I thought it would be dirtier than it was. It was black in some areas but lighter in some others areas. After replacing the check engine light went off. But the check gas cap light turned on. My car battery is not holding a charge anymore. So now I think I still have two more issues. Either it's my fuel pump or fuel filter or fuel relay is gone bad. Or it's just battery issue that won't charge anymore.
Basically 3 things can cause this. Engine is generating more heat than it should (monitor the temperature gauge), poorly sealed air filter box which allows it to draw in extra hot air from the engine, and a dirty or clogged air filter.
It was not noticeable when I checked my air filter until I used a flash light at night and looked at the box sure shit light was coming from the box! So how can I repair this until I find a new box?

Would I need to change it if the AC recirculating button doesn’t come on when I use the ac but works with the ac off?

Correct. Likewise with efi, removing air restrictions will ad air and the computer will ad fuel accordingly to maintain performance
