One change they could have made to soloists would have been to change the no other minion requirement to "if it's the first minion you played this turn" or something like that because, let's be honest, the dev team would never lift the requirement unless they find something else that fits the flavor
Idk what it is with Blizzard and giving Signatures to just the absolute bottom of the barrel cards every expansion. Cowbell Soloist isn’t even interesting, and there’s no way they genuinely thought that effect would be remotely playable, right? Why waste the money on the art for such a nothing card?! I mean it’s not like there’s a pity timer for Signatures that Cowbell Soloist exists to waste, hell I don’t even think it can be unpacked Signature.
My insane headcannon is that Festival of legends and march of the Lich king had their release order swapped relatively late in development because it's just weird to release a class in the last expansion of the rotation and so much of festival seems to synergize with stuff that rotated
Y'know, thinking about the soloist classes vs the harmonic classes got me wondering... Why is Mage the only class in Perils in Paradise to have a location and a drink? Every other class follows the rule of having either a drink or a location and not both while being able to tourist over to a class that does have whatever they're missing, but for some reason mage just gets to be different???
Opera Soloist counting as an Imp that can interact with Imp based effects was pretty huge. It's just objectively a huge imp body, one of the biggest Standard had. Likewise Drum Soloist was really useful in big taunt warrior since it could be played with the Zoo effects, get buffed and big for swing turns, and generally fill out the roster. It wasn't a card you won with, but it certainly was fine to just smack this down for 5 mana, rush a threat down and play something else meaningful with the other 5 mana. So for the decks they were in, I found both really useful.
guitar soloist: make it a 6/5, you're paying 5 mana for it harmonica soloist: 2 secrets keyboard soloist: 2/4 amps for beeg stats sax soloist: idk honestly make it a 1/3? give it lifesteal? 1/1 with taunt? opera soloist: 4 mana and hits face drum soloist: this one isn't that bad so like +1 health? oh yeah cowbell: deal 5 or deal 2 to 2 targets or something jesus this is so fucking bad
@@retronymph i completely agree lol, Im just stating that FOL was really good in theme but not so much in power , showdown was really great themetically (I love westerns) but the cards were either unplayable or broken
Blizzard and the design team made the soloists have effects as strong as their mana should allow them to be… If they didn’t have a condition this steep. Each one of the soloists should have gotten a really, REALLY strong effect for triggering it, and not something to make them look like Lone Wolf 2.0 (3 2/4 Battlecry: If you control no other minions, gain Taunt and Divine Shield from K&C) It’s even easy to fix them. But no, better print cards like Skyla, the most roguish mage ever. (What’s even roguish about her in the first place to make her a rogue tourist? One-Eyed Cheat would have been a better fit!)
@@FlareIsGone no. it's more. also i never saw that card so i'm wondering if it ever had a deck, i just got it once in arena and cleared a board with it that one game.

If Cowbell Soloist would be released in classic, it would fell off in naxx or GvG 100%
A good thing to note on glaivetar is that you dont need to trigger outcast, just play a card with that text
wicked

Because, reasons! Yes, very logical and real reasons, that may or may not involve helicopters, maple syrup, and a certain dinosaur named Bogge.
Its a referance to a SNL skit, so it was probably just for the fun of it
To get people to collect them? There's definitely whales who spent dummy money to get it like Zeddy who has all the signatures.
Maybe it's bad because you get it for free?
@@juliandacosta6841 You literally had to pay for it. It was in the tavern pass paid track.
I believe disco maul was 2/2 when at 2 mana... Still insane tho 😂
11:30 it was 2 mana 2/2 not 2 mana 3/2
Soloist feel like 2015 unplayable type of cards
Why weren't the soloist cards finale cards instead? Would still make some sense thematically but still not just a battlecry card.

Magic dude
Paladin kinda technically has a location too with San’Cazel I guess?
Jaina is just the favorite
Maybe because there is an odd number of classes, so they either made one class without both or a class having both

Been LOVING! These past powerpoints from you! keep it up! u r very entretaining!
the new mic sounds great flare!
I remember playing drum soloist in standard in Reno decks, it wasn't that bad
The problem with soloists isn't the condition it's the fact that the combination of stats, mana cost and effect isn't good.
iirc drum soloist ended up seeing some play in menagerie control warrior? could be wrong tho idk

Thematically the best expansion in a while, power wise not as good
I mean nothing in it is like, super busted but it printed a lot of solid role player cards.
@@retronymph it wasn't nearly as strong as titans or badlands, granted that came after but the power level was waaay higher

May I know why you are using the BTD soundtrack in the background?
Because people like it what

didn't show Remixed Rapsody
its not a harmonic

Hey, Cowbell as a card might be bad
But, at least the card art is hot
very weird that the only thick woman card art that wasn't made to be intentionally ugly was made to be intentionally bad card
I hate harmonic hip hop so hard lmao
Nah horn of the windlord can get nuked fuck that card
Disco Maul was 2 mana 2/2 weapon, dont spread misinformation.
