Repairing the damage from the tow truck driver on our Ram Promaster city

- Now that the Promonster runs, it is time to fix the damaged caused by towing it with a flat tire. The shelving unit will have to come out before we can even see all the damage then we can get to work. We need to clean up the body and see just how much work I will have for the painting gnomes.

“I’m not wearing gloves to protect the metal” 😆 Quality Vehcor right there !
I assume that’s what the safety experts meant, no? 😂
I laughed with that one 😂😂
@@vehcor dude... your supposed to keep the enormous rack😉
Cars be afraid of this man! you are the BOSS bro! Nice... no gloves to take care of the metal!
"I don't want to catch the metal on my skin because I might tear the metal even more" 😆🤜
I guess that is what the safety experts meant, no? 😂
@@vehcor lol.
Best line all day!
Excellent! Another half hour of brutal sarcasm 😁
Thanks!
Snarky. Sarcasm......xcellent
26:13 "We also wanna be really careful not to spill any of the Blinker Fluid out of the light, because FIAT Blinker Fluid is really expensive, it's collected from the tears of joy from people that bought FIAT. So, it's pretty rare." ~ Vehcor, 2021.
Damn true... and I'm laughing so hard, I almost spilt coffee on my laptop... xDDDD
“I’m really glad I bought this Fiat” said no one ever! 😂
Only good thing I've heard someone to say about italian make/model cars is "I'm happy that I got rid of it"
@@vehcor Fix It Again Tomorrow...😜. Love the video and the dialogue!
Imagine if they switched to the tears of frustration from people paid to work on Fiats. You'd have gallons of surplus in every shop
Every Fiat owner has cried so many tears that the ocean has risen several inches.
Jeez I had started building some body positivity after lifting for a few weeks but this guy just straiht took it all from me. Dudes jacked as hell. Respect
Keep at it, we all have our ups and downs. Thanks for your support!
If he wore OSHA approved shorts, we could see if he skips leg day :)
@@vehcor thanks man. Your a real inspiring dude. I know it's probably all youtube magic but your confidence in videos is what makes u seem the strongest.
he does pound metal every day..
Damned impressed with your Painting Gnome's work on the wheel well. Most gnomes woulda done a half assed job since it is a cargo area, but not this gnome! Give that gnome an "Attaboy!"
I know, it looks better than the other side now! 😂
@@vehcor Nothing screams, "Somebody has been here before," than crappy body and paint repair. UNTIL you find this damn near perfect spot of body work covered in excellent paint. That makes you start to wonder, "What the hell is wrong with the rest of the vehicle?!?!?"
@@WhiskyCardinalWes By far the hardest part of collision repair isn't making things perfect, but making it look like the rest of the vehicle.
I knew a painter once who could duplicate exactly any type of factory orange peel on a vehicle.
I went to the Ram dealership to get one of those mid-engine vans and the salesman told me some body shop guy and a pizza girl from Michigan bought the last one.
It is difficult to not say disparaging things about Fiat, Chrysler or Fiat/Chrysler. The purchase made perfect sense for Fiat, similar quality and *cough* engineering. Thanks for 30 minutes of brilliantly delivered sarcasm, it makes my Friday complete.
I think Fiats made Chrysler look dependable! 😂
@@vehcor In all honesty, they are better now than before the buyout.
Order that pizza! It's always fun to watch your kid helping dad. She's the future.
You really should have ordered a pizza to get Afternoon Crew help. Then ate it while they worked on the cargo rack...
19:30 That little spider getting a close up view of quality repair there.
That’s the foreman checking my work!
@@vehcor What happened to Mr Spotty?
That’s the shop inspector.
Scott, you should rebadge the whole van as a Fiat Doblo. It would be pretty cool IMO. Pointless on a work van, especially a flip, but cool none the less. Everytime I see a badge job import car, i always calculate what it would take to restore it to its original state lol. Badges, lights, grills etc.
I need help. Almost makes me wanna buy a Journey to make it into a Fiat Freemont...almost
Tears of joy. So fiat blinker fluid is pretty rare. LOL
💰💰💰
Maybe that's why Fiat rebadged the miata, they desperately needed blinker fluid🤔
BFH to the rescue! Always fun to watch M8.
That blinker fluid 🤣🤣🤣🤣
💰💰💰
Love the attention to details
Thanks!
Wow Scott.. the popularity is growing substantially. Its the humor thats bringing in so many. Thanks for sharing! Stay safe and be well
Disassembling that rack from the back brought a new perspective to the fine art of boring builds.
Like the Fiasco tears of joy part ! I drove a Fiat Panda , parts kept falling off. Still went forward cause reverse was already left the vehicle. Like watching your channel Scott !
Ah, Scott, watching you take that rack system out of the van reminded me of that old saying: “Necessity is the mother of invention.” (or was that Frank Zappa?) 🤦♂️ Anyhoo, it was sure entertaining watching you go off the rails on that project. 🤣 Seriously, I love watching a craftsman doing what he does best. ( with a great dose of sarcasm)
I guess I have a low expectation rate, cuz when I saw you hammer down the sharp metal edges, I was thinking, "Job Done!" LOL
Thanks Scott!
Awesome work scott
Love your work
Thorough as usual. Thanks Scott!
I finally realized why you do what you do, Scott. It's not for the money or fame ... it's for the stress relief. I'm sure with banging on the wheel house like that, you've got ZERO stress in your life. Good on yah, Bro. :o)
Like your boring build Friday I look forward to watching
Pity those drawers weren't removeable. All the telescoping runners that I have seen have a detent that prevents over-extension but that can be defeated to allow drawer removal.
But your way worked and got the job done. Always enjoy your commentary, cheers.
You are a hoot. Great videos and attitude.
Thanks for the tip on the grease and wax remover for lettering and writing! Love your videos
No wonder you're so good! You get so much expert advice! Great videos!
Great job got it done .
"... it's collected from the tears of joy, from the people who bought Fiats... So it's pretty rare...."
Hahahahaha! Almost choked to death on my supper!!!! hahahahaha! omg.... Geeez, I almost died... There should be a warning, or something....
from the Netherlands thanks for the video Scoot
You always make it look so easy.
I guess that with this 2nd Promaster City you officially gained Tony as your second name: Fix It Again, Tony!
Cheers from the land of Fiat Doblòs
(the Fiat model doesn't have this very American 2.4L engine with his 170 bhp, but only a 1.4L turbo with 120 hp, or a 1.6L diesel with 95 or 120 horseponys, just in case you wanted to know)
Scott always does a great job and entertains us wile he works Too Funny!!!!
Thanks!
Good afternoon friend I've been waiting all week for this one
Thanks for the support!
@@vehcor your welcome thats for sharing
Nice work as always! Need to fire that afternoon crew for sheer lazyness!
You are a very patient man with that rack! I would have used my Skilsaw on it!
Great job Scott. Nice to see complete repairs to be proud of! I offer that you wear eye protection often as once eyesight dims -everything is a problem. Just to be helpful only.
Thanks for the fun watching you work! :
That spider must be the new supervisior LOL.
Nice video
Thank god, it's friday!
👍🏻
Wow. Who knew FCA made the inner wheel wells out of painted aluminum foil? Thanks for a great video!
I thought the "tears of joy" came from the ones who experienced engine failures on Fiats that are JUST barely on the WRONG side of their expired warranty coverage.
Even better than a "how's my driving" sticker - I saw one on a rear bumper of a truck that said "Get off my a-- or I will deploy your airbag." Loved it! Thanks for a great video!
Painted aluminum foil is actually a bit more stout than this wheel well. 😂
That rack must have been a beast to install
Great Job!!!Thank You... :)
Thanks for the support!
Nice video sir 👍🏻👍🏻
Poor spider is thinking "EARTHQUAKE!".
Fiat blinker fluid! Love it! I owned a Fiat once I didn't have it long enough to have tears of joy, it dissolved round me. The metal had the structural integrity of a limp lettuce leaf. 😂
Fiats rust so quickly because of the tears of sorrow from the crushed hopes and dreams of the Fiat line workers.
Tears of joy LOL you are the best
Another Boring Friday after dinner, good job. 👍👍👍
Love this channel and the videos. It inspires me and teaches me tricks to work on the old Corvair I am rebuilding. Please keep up the good work I think I’ve watched all the videos. Except for the time lapse ones and I’ll probably do those too.If it was me doing the same work the same way I would’ve bled to death by the end of each video.
Scott i been watching your videos for quite some time im amazed how talented you are and how you make things look so easy, i bet that damn spotty messes stuff up doesn't he lol. keep these great videos coming. very educational.
Afternoon Scott!!
Afternoon!
Great job. Doing the same thing to 14 e-150 cargo.
Nice work with that caulking gun. Every time I touch one of those things I’m covered in goop!
More work caused by the incompetents than the original problem of the bad motor. You made changing that wheel housing look easy.
We've had a lot of re-badged vehicles here in Australia also, like a Ford van was actually a Mazda and the VZ Commodore is actually an Opel. It will be interesting to see how the van turns out next week. All the best from Queensland Australia.
My Friday is complete.
Gaining ! The little white piggy will look nice when you are done with the transformation !
It’s a useful piggy!
Ohhh yes love boring build Fridays
Thanks!
“Roaming gnome “ 😂😂😂that does it for me!!
Great post scott your sense of humour is so much like mine and on reflection I think that most people who do not suffer fools gladly have caustic humour, looking forward to seeing the finished job, one thing that I can’t understand is why anyone would buy a fiat, we’ve all known for decades they’re only fit for your “pile”, I take it that you’ve copyrighted that phrase “ in the pile “ so I hope I have your authorisation to use it😇
That rack system was built better then the van ...
Little spider under the door is like whos knocking?
That was the Foreman checking my work!
No skipping arm day today!!!
*LMAO "inspection ports" looks like someone's angry Gremlin went nuts in that wheel well with a steel axe*
Scott, I was thinking, What is going on??? when I saw you using that body hammer for what it was intended when you pounded that sheet metal back down but then you used it to pound on that chisel and I thought, All is right in the world!
I grind my welds like you do except I use a 3/16" thick grinding wheel, they last a lot longer and cut quicker. You can stack 3 1/16" wheels too. Give it a try
Sweet
👍🏻
Some avocado green or burnt orange '70s shag carpet could have covered carelessly-welded repairs to the wheelhouse. Just add disco ball.
Would have been cool, to tape Mr. Spotty, too the spider. Thanks from.St. Paul Minnesota.
A tip for lug bolts. Get a 6” threaded rod that matches the thread pitch/size of the bolts. When you take the first lug bolt out, put the rod into the hole. Now you have a hanger for the wheel to rest on when you go to install it, or take it off.
Often the hubs that use lug bolts also have a centering boss on them, I've found that you can just rest the wheel on that and it's not that bad, but I do prefer lug nuts as well.
Did I really see some safety glasses being used during the grinding of spot welds. Excellent job and about done with another quality Fiat product. Ha
The tears of joy.lmbo
Blinker fluid made with the tears of joy from the ones who bougth fiat 😂😂😂
13:15 Oh look, it is James Caan in the movie Thief
Remember, it's a long way to the top it you wanna Rack 'N Roll.
Fix It Again Tony!
Great progress on the Promonster van!! Where was the roaming gnome when you were wrestling with that rack?
I just received a hardback book about Gnomes, copyright 1977. Can't wait to read it!
You should've had Mr Spotty finger paint. Haha that bum!
He is still hanging out on the flex plate since the last video. 😂
When you say in the pile then you throw it I require to see it bounce from floor into said pile from now on, thanks. Lol.
Don't need to paint that door, just needed another 'how is my driving' sticker
I want to drive it and my phone would never stop ringing with complaints! 😂
@@vehcor Dial 1-800- F**K-YOU!
Poor little spider at 19:30 was experiencing a magnitude 9.
it must be getting close to some more mustang work i recon the odd episode hear and there would be good i almost forgot about the safety requirements when you work on the stang almost lol
Scary to think they gave that tow truck driver a license. You turned the mobile trash can into a desirable vehicle as only Scott can do.
Liked the joke about Blinker Fluid and tears!
If you owned a Fiat you would realize it is no joke! 😂
aww yeah
🥇
Mr spoty's new tiny house LOL
He’s living on the flex plate since the last video. 😂
I never got why they gouge these so bad removing the stickers, I see that on fleet and state trucks all the time.
The state got lazy here and now just spray paints out their logos, so when I got my most recent (I can't say newest since it's a 1994) vehicle, I went out there with a plastic scraper and a heat gun. Once I got the sticker started and warm it came right off. Some brake clean and a rag took care of the overspray. It was way easier than trying to just scrape it off without heat.
Love your videos 👍 Quick question where’s the best place for me to get an after market fender for my daughters 2011 CTS coup
Thanks, LKQ Keystone
Still should have a made a ram promaster city-camino
Lovely Jubbly USA.
IDK, I thought it looked pretty good after you hammered the metal rips down. Shoot, a little flex seal and some rattle can, EZPZ.
In regard to the use of multiple sizes of fasteners, I myself can hardly wait until GM invents a metric Torx bolt line
So sad, you struggling withe the trays and no Mr. Spotty in sight. Negotiations must be going well for the little guy.
I would've probably removed the rack the same way, but I realized you probably could've wrapped a rachet strap around it and lifted it a quarter inch with a cherrypicker and pulled it out after you removed the brackets...
Agent 47 is also a mechanic and body guy, who knew.
👍
👍🏻
Those spike strips sure cause a lot of damage.
