It always surprises me how happy you are with damaged cars… flooded, crashed, crushed, it doesn’t matter, you’re still happy… amazing. You are next level…
It's crazy to imagine how all this damage happens and then you see a pile of boulders on the passenger floor. The intensity of that tornado was insane!!
This is an interesting project. I would recommend sticking a plastic tube down in the cylinders and vacuuming all the water out. Then pump in some MMO and let it set. Check the fuse box for which circuits have blown fuses before putting any more power to the truck.
I could not believe the amount of water that came out of the sump and then the rocks in the passenger side and the buoy. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
What a damage a tornado can make, for us in Europe we can not imagine, its insane. I hope you continue with the Ram but what kind of problems will it have when it is ready or after a little while. It’s always great to see your videos, you both stay always so positive. See you in the next one
I think I would just use it for parts. When you consider how much work there could be the labour mounts up. Then there's the electrical issues. All questions at the moment and not many answers. Great video Brothers Happy New year. 👍👍
You got's yourself a lot of work to do. Engine would be a priority. Lots of flushing out with diesel fuel. No starting just motoring after you get everything dried out. Don't won't to see you have a fire. Fuel tank probably needs draining and the inside of it flushed out good as well as the fuel lines. Of course you know all that. Lot's carpet removal for thorough drying. Instrument panel wiring dry out of course. I really think you enjoy this kind of work tremendously. I'll be watching your progress.
All the power to you fellas for taking on the challenge to fix one of these. I would only buy one of these for parts if it had an signs of being flooded same with a flood vehicle.. The problem with them is yes they may run and drive but the issues star showing up down the road after it has been sold and that is when the angry customer starts complaining and you can note everything you want about this and that and as is but you know they are going to complain and make noise about it and IMHO opinion reputation is worth more than money anytime of the week
No one is going to pay 40k for that truck finished. If it doesn't have problems now it will in the future given all the damage. A+ for content generator. It might just be a parts sale IMO
Depends on what state your in i see people buy flooded car titles all the time for outrageous prices. We have dealerships over here in the northwest that sell only salvage titles. And believe it or not lowest prices start at 19k and some of those cars have been in severe wrecks or severe floods. And they have been in business dam near my hole life i see vehicals that sound like there gonna blow up for 7k with almost 300k miles on it and looks like its gonna fall apart with the wrong turn lol
In my area, used Ram 1500 trucks, whatever the model level, get a steep devaluation after only 2 years. I would'nthave paid 14k for this one. 7 to 8k (maybe) at the most !
If you do it right no problem mydad drove his car in a lake submerging the whole engine and such i pulled it out cleanex it al and got it back up and running whit in 10 hours after the swim and he still drives it no isues at all ( ofcourse i had to replace the radio airbag module and the cv vacuum pump and the wheel barings next to that nothing wrong whit it still goes strong
Looks like it was submerged. There is a lot of body damages and if it was totally submerged many of the electronic components will be shot. More testing is in order. I'd say it would be very costly to repair it. Don't think I'd buy it from you guys after it was done.
I think following Tornado/flood damage at this level, the insurance companies are almost happy to pay you to take it away! (It’s a very recent top of the line edition so I guess the boys know they can spend $40-50k and still get their money back no problem.
I guess it may have been parked prior to the tornado hit so maybe the engine is relatively undamaged from a hydro lock point of view…- plugs looked ok…
I'm extremely confused on why this vehicle was purchased. Lot# 58744411 Vin#1C6SRFKT8KN545238 it clearly shows in the CoPart pictures with mud in the headliner which would tell you it was a submarine vehicle. Also on the back glass was the loss date of 9-27-21. The Tornados in KY were 12/10/21 so there is no way this truck was involved in the Tornado and It is unrealistic to expect CoPart to have Tornado truck available less than 2 weeks after event loss. We all know these vehicles take many weeks and sometimes months to come up. Just don't know how these facts were missed here because a simple 5 minute copart and vin search. Even in your original lot video at 18:59 in you show the back glass where it clearly has 9/27/21 written on it.
Luckily these vehicles have only been sitting for a few weeks before they put them up for sale if more insurance companies would do the same instead of letting them sit for months or even years before putting them up for auction a lot more vehicles would be salvageable. The engine is probably fine mechanically although some of the electronics may be shot but I would definitely drain the transmission and differentials before trying to start it.
Hello Guys, a great challenge ahead of you. But worse than that RAM have come into their hands and they have come out perfectly rebuilt. So let's get to work, I already want to see it on. Good luck.👍👍

My friend bought a flood truck from Florida and he had to pull the whole interior out of the truck and had it professionally cleaned because of the smell and under the floor rug there was still a ton of sand and also in the doors so over all when it comes to cleaning a flooded truck you can't cut corners you just have to go all out or the smell and the sand will screw you, in the long run you don't need to tear the interior out twice because you didn't do it properly....One thing is for sure don't dare try to start the truck without pulling out the computers and checking that out for moisture.. sorry to say dude it took my friend months before he felt like he can start his truck.....good look
Guys it was definitely a very nice truck before the tornado! If it makes financial sense to rebuild it I would enjoy following the rebuild! Anyhow I am looking forward to the next video!
When you find electrical boxes with signs of corrosion to the circuit board inside don't throw in the towel. If the parts were not powered up after the water entered the box or panel you may be able to salvage the parts. With a fine wire brush you may be able to brush off the white or brownish corrosion. If there's white corrosion between solder joints and connection, that may cause a short circuit if powered up and damage the unit. After you clean the corrosion spray with an electrical parts cleaner spray that evaporates quickly. Give it some time to try completely. I retired from the Air Force and worked in the electronics field for over 23 years. Then worked as a civilian electronics and automation technician for 25 years. Good Luck.
The tornado damage doesn’t give nearly as much pause as the flood damage. I’m not sure if those boulders were threw in or washed in. With the amount of water in the engine, it had to be submerged in a significant amount of water for a good period of time. A beautiful truck. Hope to see it ride again.
It's a scary thing with electrical issues. It's hard to get those right after a flood. Maybe a cab swap with good electrical system maybe key. You guys will get it right for sure no doubt.
Unbelievable amount of damage. Prayers for those families who dealt with the tornado!! Beautiful truck guys it’ll be amazing to see it brought back to its glory.. good luck gents, great video new subscriber here!
Carry on with the build guys, love the truck builds .its a shame you can't get a like the one in fast and furious 9 nice truck for round the world tour. Keep going guys love the channel
Hey guys, you have an awesome system that you go by. Man, I love your videos. I would check the mileage. If the engine runs good and if the mileage is low, I would keep it, because you both do good body work. So yeah.
Wow , need to add up all the parts , a lot of parts too . !!! Windscreen, windows, back bed ?? , dented ?? Is it worth repairing ?? Or get a new one .. (fenders ) , we say wings .. doors , & a piller , & that's what i saw .. now over there , you should have ,all the parts to get it , fixed , so good luck ... 👍
Though I want to see the rebuild of this truck, I also know this is a major undertakaing both time and money! I would survey the extent of the damage and what is salvagable avd do a quick gustimation of hours each phase will take and you will have your answer. The other possibility is a collaboration with other RUclipsrs for certain jobs like autobody works, electronics people, detailers etc... everyone gets content and traffic plus exposure . If you can afford a longterm restoration buildout this has would be a perfect project. RockAuto is a great one for parts collab. Beautiful, truck I had a good hunch you might buy this.
sad to see all the destruction of all the houses.. and i saw tehe ram in the walk around and i was hoping that your would buy it looks like a great project and look forward to watching the progress of the rebuild 😉
It's so sad to see the devastation, it all depends pump all the water fast, put new oil and start the engine if everything works correctly rebuild it. If you have many parts damage part it out. Good video. Take care thanks 😊
By the way that’s not just a fuse box, that’s the TIPM, and it will need to be programmed to the truck assuming that’s your only issue (which I highly doubt)…. I think every module/connector in that truck will need to at least be dried out.
Hindsight always 20/20, of course. Several of your recent acquisitions at much lower prices were far better deals. I'm sort of surprised you'd go for one like this.
Would be awesome to see you guys rebuilt something like that especially with all that damage bringing it back to life and on to the road would be interesting to see!
You guys should take apart the coils clean the springs and the contacts in the coils where the springs go they oxidide easy and cause a miss fire on the hemi's
That’s a nice truck, top of the line, or close to it plus the fact that the engine isn’t seized, makes it a good truck to work your magic on. You’ve fixed worse that this, with every trailer that you’ve bought, so go get’em!
You guys are bonkers lol when your cranking it by hand and the water is shooting everywhere and your both laughing, anyone else would be shocked and would probably give up🤣,hope you decide to repair it as will make great content, cheers guys
IMO, @ $14,000 you need to keep going. Convince yourselves it's impossible to fail!! Perhaps, once you clean it up it may not be as bad as it looks right now. If not, you can always part it out.
You should get one of those cheap 12v pumps designed for draining oil via dipstick tube. Apart from oil changes, you could have drained the oil/water from engine and cylinders with considerably more convenience & less mess.

Yeah.. I'm guessing if they had seen the pile of boulders, along with the boat fender, they may have passed on this one.
I can see kindness right through your eyes guys.

I hope whoever owned this truck sees this video and reaches out to you and tells you the story or has pictures. Nice truck in its day.
