5:19 I kept my 30' boat at a marina that had 3 yacht clubs surrounding it. A buddy kept his boat at 1 of them. He said "we're having a boater's flea market come on over" there was a guy selling a zodiac, with a wood floor, and a 2 hp suzuki for $150. At the time, a new zodiac was $1500 WITHOUT a motor, and this held air, floor recently finished, and the motor was a non runner. I bought it on the spot, threw it in the back of my truck, drove over to my marina. I had a shore slip so I could park right behind my boat. I got the motor took it to the dock. Ok, motors don't run if there's no fuel or no spark. Checked, had a nice strong spark. carb was dry as a popcorn fart. The "throttle" was a twist knob. Spin it out to go fast, turn it in to go slow. As I was turning it out, it got easier and easier, spun it right out and what did I find? A brass screen/filter completely clogged with rust. Cleaned it with carb cleaner, filled the little tank on top with fresh gas/oil. Pulled the cord ONE fired right up. I mounted it on the inflatable, got in, drove back over to the yacht club. Total time: 20 mins. The guy who sold it saw me and I waved at him lol My buddy told me that night he WAS PISSED. "your friend RIPPED ME OFF he's a THIEF" All summer he wouldn't let it go and gave it to my buddy at every opportunity lol
Even the Shadow Gnome laughed at the "Afternoon Crew" scream! Scott, I guess you are glad this Duramax didn't get roasted in the shop fire 🔥I know it must be annoying when Vehcor fans are chomping at the bit to buy your restorations - but hey, take it as the ultimate compliment! We dig what you do. We will be happy when you get a shop again, even with trains/planes/whatever. Merry Christmas to you, Pizza Girl, Afternoon Crew - and the Supervisor...
Hey man .. big fan. Hey, an old-timer taught me a trick wayyy back when I got started wrenching . When you get ready to install the trans, look at the bolt holes in the flywheel. Most(not all) have one bolt hole that's oblong and longer vertically. Turn the engine until that bolt hole is the first one to get a torque converter bolt. Then you can just go around and crank em down. That hole like locates the torque converter so all the other holes line up.
Stop coming and getting all of our rust free trucks! You were only just a few miles from my house. If I would have known you were down this way would have invited you over and cooked you a Cajun meal. Well good luck with the truck. Enjoy your videos.
56:03 I got a tip from South Main Auto LLC! When working around a radiator, tape a piece of cardboard over the radiator fins, to avoid any accidents to the radiator!
Scott--I really HATE to have to correct you, but since Mr. Spotty is on sabbatical, I must. Freon is a resisted trade name by DuPont for R-12 (dichlorodifluoromethane) which has been banned for years. Most newer systems use HFC-134a refrigerant. I;m really not your typical hater but learning A/C systems in the early 1970's by teacher whom was a stickler for details...by the way I really like your videos and sense of humor.
I hope you do show the follow-up video to see what was actually wrong with that motor. If it was like you said a water pump bolt and you snapped the chain or whatever else it could have been
I’m anxious for you to get a good shop. If it means anything, I’d consider you one of the top RUclipsrs on here. You’re very thorough and do awesome work. To get to see you rebuilding cars and the bodywork gnome doing the other work would be great.
Scott.... The flex plate as one hole that's narrower then the rest. That should be your first bolt into the torque converter and tighten to spec. All the other bolts will line up perfectly
28:53 I'm thinking dropped valve. 2 mins later "water pump bolt" Imagine if that was all it was, and all you had to do was remove the bolt and the engine was fine.
If the DEF and SCR system is working it does actually convert the NO and NO3 into nitrogen, water, and oxygen. But that's if the injector hasn't turned into a fun crystallized science experiment. There's also an argument for if NO and NO2 are a problem as a pollutant everywhere in the country. In breezy Chicago, probably not, since it breaks down fairly quickly in sunlight. If all the modern diesel emissions equipment wasn't made out of a combination of paper mache and brittle plastic it would be a lot easier to be an advocate to keep it all working.
Bought a 1954 Plymouth that was at a junkyard that couldn't get it running (crank, no start). Paid $200 for it and threw the driver 50 to tow it to my place. I knew what was wrong and had it running before the driver left. It was a complete rot box but the frame and drivetrain was good. Ended up swapping a wagon body on it and sold it.
Nice truck, and you made the engine swap look effortless. It’s going to be very interesting to see what the issue was with the original engine. I’d have no hesitation purchasing that truck, or any of the vehicles I’ve seen you repair/rebuild. The problem that I often see when I look at used vehicles is the evidence that someone has worked on the vehicle. Broken clips, clamps ,plugs, wires, it’s so easy to spot when whoever worked on it didn’t give a sht.
The flywheel has one oval hole that’s the one you start with (alignment hole) and you can torque that first bolt right away all the others will align no problem one time around (gas motors) I’m sure diesel to are the same good job 👍
I don’t enjoy making these long videos but viewers seem to like them so I’ll do it. I didn’t think people would want to watch the long ones but the stats don’t lie. Thanks for the support!
Liked it, instead of sweeping the dirt underneath the carpet or whatever, just add another piece of carpet or flooring, and to think some say you dun't thunk..
I think this is an old video that’s just getting edited now that was filmed in the old shop. That extra bed was strapped on the truck like that in the RCSB Silverado rebuild from a while ago.
There’s a lot of industry in Louisiana it was probably a fleet truck that idled for eternity in the middle of nowhere and never got maintenance 1:02:17
Maybe if the trains made less noise for crossing people wouldn't 'tune out' the noise as you said and there would be fewer smashes on rail crossings. Here in the UK trains do not blare horns for crossings and we have very few smashes on crossings. When I worked in the USA it was train noise that really got to me. it was like ALL the time! But on more important issues the cab lift was the right way to do the engine swop and of course it all worked out well. To me access is more important than time. Brits don't do 'real quick' 🤣🤣
Nice job Scott. The Pizza girl is definitely prettier than the shadow gnome. The bent extension reminded me I need to replace one of mine. I think the bend on mine is on the opposite side. Have a good weekend.
4:00 I know hindsight is 20/20 but me? I would have strapped it to the other truck, with a spare bumper or something on the ground then driven away with the truck and trailer leaving the truck in one place.
Ueah epic score on truck. But how many mins do factory assy line workers have yo install and fit out. Emgines st their ststions......you hot em beat😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
I have to ask, why do all the Allison transmitions leak on those side plates? My 2016 truck leaks in that same exact spot you'd think they would have designed a better gasket over the years.
I would say leave some trophies/ medals for the others… but the others are probably bots so you have earned them all! Thanks for the support, week after week! 😂👍🏻

Whew what a story...now tooo bad you gotta get his dinghy and fluster him with that😊😊
It's great to see that you now have a shop. No doubt, it makes the work a little more pleasant. Another great video, Scott. Thanks.
"Elwood, how often does that train come by?......So often you won't even notice"...The Blues Brothers
😂
You did the whole job with the bent extension! Kudos to you!
I am always impressed with your skills, the jobs you tackle are beyond most guys.

Your videos, never get boring.
I love the truck videos and how you effortlessly take them apart and put them together.
Love the Chevy truck rebuilds!
Hope you get your own place soon buddy you deserve it that is some fine work
Loving these hr long vids keep em coming

Any time! Hope you are having a good one, too!
56:03 I got a tip from South Main Auto LLC! When working around a radiator, tape a piece of cardboard over the radiator fins, to avoid any accidents to the radiator!
Now you tell me. This was the first time I ever lost the gamble. Probably one of the more expensive radiators I could have ruined. Just my luck! 😂
@@vehcor I thought for sure that you had one at Scott's Chevy Pickup Emporium!
Waiting for the trailer scream😲 Brilliant!
Thanks!
You need to copyright it similar to the Wilhelm. Scream often heard in movies since the 30s😮😮
Thanks for the video Scott.

Take us to the auction. Great rebuild

Looks like a nice truck. Man you weren't kiddin about that second train were you! Thx
Awesome Truck.
Great trailer scream ! ( MEMORIES )
Scott.... The flex plate as one hole that's narrower then the rest. That should be your first bolt into the torque converter and tighten to spec. All the other bolts will line up perfectly
Compared to my Iowa truck, that's showroom perfect😂😂😂😂
That extension.. 😆
Any updates on the mustang????
You need to be more specific, with 10, I don’t know which one you mean.
@ the orange one. The old mustang that is going to go on the new one. I don’t think you have posted a video on it in nearly 2-3 years
Great video as always!
28:53 I'm thinking dropped valve. 2 mins later "water pump bolt" Imagine if that was all it was, and all you had to do was remove the bolt and the engine was fine.
Yes, a Duramax engine swap. Waiting for the old engine diagnosis 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Good seeing you Scottie
that truck was marking it spot coming of the trailer. nice wet puddle of fluid in the middle.
Snazzy yellow car back there. Dang, you make that look easy.
With how slow and careful you were unloading it off the trailer, I thought you weren’t going to do the scream. 4:14 ahhh, there it is!
Most excellent adventure Scott!😊

I wondered why I was having issues after working on my truck, I didn’t get the timing right on my spring clamps! 😂
Have a great weekend Scott
Commonly overlooked detail! 😂
I like that Impala off in the corner That was our family car same color too. I put a few starters on that with my step dad .
They are all good, this one is no different.
Happy Friday, Scott🍻
Same to you! 🍻
Great video enjoy watching keep up the great work
Thanks, I appreciate it!
I do love myself an hour long Scott special
I don’t enjoy making these long videos but viewers seem to like them so I’ll do it. I didn’t think people would want to watch the long ones but the stats don’t lie. Thanks for the support!
Ratchet straps always hold as long as you say the magic words-“that’s not going anywhere”
Been a while since we've heard the AAAAHHH!😂
Didn't catched 2 things. Mileage and price. The truck is perfect as it is
Man, I got frustrated doing a Honda civic. Great job. Must have done a few if u got that far in 1hr.
Liked it, instead of sweeping the dirt underneath the carpet or whatever, just add another piece of carpet or flooring, and to think some say you dun't thunk..
Who's workshop are you working in is that your new workshop
I think this is an old video that’s just getting edited now that was filmed in the old shop. That extra bed was strapped on the truck like that in the RCSB Silverado rebuild from a while ago.
Somebody didn't watch the full video
There’s a lot of industry in Louisiana it was probably a fleet truck that idled for eternity in the middle of nowhere and never got maintenance 1:02:17
You forgot to say the red fuel turns the exhaust pipe red so uncle fed can catch you when you put in you street truck.

Don't think I've ever been this early to one of these videos
For you efforts, you get a personalized thanks! Thanks for the support!
Seeing the driveshaft go back in the transmission looks familiar.
Makes a fine grand am hauler, but no sunroof. It’ll be for sale after winter 😂
Nice job Scott. The Pizza girl is definitely prettier than the shadow gnome. The bent extension reminded me I need to replace one of mine. I think the bend on mine is on the opposite side. Have a good weekend.
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Heh... didnt trust the "gnome" for doing the screaming properly. Thats why you had to swap! XD
That too! 😂
Tell shadow gnome it's alot easier to move a truck by grabbing the wheel than pushing
Is it just me or does the shadow gnome have enough hair for the 2 of them? lol
He has more than enough for both of us! 😂
damn, that's a lot of wires going into and out of the fuse box. what about the muffler bearings? All interchangeable?🤣
Is that wobbly extension available in your amazon store?
No, but the kit to make it is…. 12” extension and a big hammer! 😂
Both more complex and simpler than I expected to pull the cab and engine/transmission. Thanks for sharing your careful work.
Hmmmm, maybe an I Do Cars collab?
"I happen to have a spare motor" it pays to be a hoarder! lol....
8:26 choosing ur battles 😉
"Choose your hard" - @CodieSanchezCT
I will be interested to see what killed the old motor.
4:00 I know hindsight is 20/20 but me? I would have strapped it to the other truck, with a spare bumper or something on the ground then driven away with the truck and trailer leaving the truck in one place.
Upside The train has new cars in it that will be crashing for you to fix in the future 45:18
Your scream coming down off the trailer was a bit delayed, I was worried you weren't going to do it.
All paper filters whether they be for oil or fuel are junk ,use pure power filters you will see differance
You should have added a crawl to the bottom of this video that ran for the entire video that said "This is at the old shop pre fire"
Is this the shop that burned down?
How many questions do you get about "clamp timing?"
Not nearly as many as the “where’s the Mustang”?
AC I need, even up here in the North East. Heat? I could survive without if I had to. Its hilariousl
I can survive without it but I also like to be comfortable!
....................... If you get up at 3:00 am... What time do you go to bed? Getting up, Sleep, Going to bed has been a huge life problem for me.
Did I miss the post mortem on the engine? Or will that be in a future video?
Great use for an expensive spare diesel engine!!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the support!
friend bought a Lexus same way Saw the black dust, thought Hmm.. and took it home to a 20 dollar fix
\
Dammmmmm Metra trains…..
U should move down to quitman Texas and get a new shop for a good change
Fram filter 😂
Ueah epic score on truck. But how many mins do factory assy line workers have yo install and fit out.
Emgines st their ststions......you hot em beat😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
was it at the old shop that went aflame ?
New shop?
I have to ask, why do all the Allison transmitions leak on those side plates? My 2016 truck leaks in that same exact spot you'd think they would have designed a better gasket over the years.
I hear 1060 West Addison is nice. ;-)
It's not
Before you became a wrench twirler, you had a full on zBilly Ray Cirus mullet
I did have a mullet in high school! 😂
What did you do with the old engine? Is it for sale?
Is this the same shop that had the fire Scott?
Listen Up Sizzle Chest, How Much For The Truck?
Was this back in the shop that burned down?
Is this the old shop that had a fire
Yes
Train beat you again!
ShadowGnome > MrSpotty?
Yeah but it's an LT trim. Didn't want LTZ or HC?
Beat the bots!😂
I would say leave some trophies/ medals for the others… but the others are probably bots so you have earned them all! Thanks for the support, week after week! 😂👍🏻
@vehcor oh hell yeah, Scott. Anytime, sir!🍻
