I didn't find this Grand Am, it found me. A viewer reached out to me and asked if I could repair their 2005 Pontiac Grand AM GT1 SC/T after it was involved in a collision. The insurance company totaled it, but the owner did not want to give it up. They took the insurance payout and bought the car back so let's help them out and get the car back on the road. The owner picked this car up from the dealer lot, brand new, here in Illinois back in 2005. It has low miles and has been well cared for, the kind of car you don't want to have to replace.

Back in '05 I totaled my '99 Grand Am. A few months later I decided to rebuild it in my driveway. Stripped all the front-end sheet metal off. Then tied a rope between the radiator support and my pick up truck and yanked it back straight. 270k miles on that car now, still going strong.
I can binge these videos all day!

I, along with many, ate Jimmie Hoffa in 1975 in a University of Illinois dorm cafeteria. He was indistinguishable from any of the other mystery meats. I soon dropped the cafeteria plan and bought my own food. Woe to those who didn’t, though I believe some became vegetarians and vegans.
Hoffa was the start of the ManWichs.
Would you ever get involved with repairing the rust - or is that just generally left alone until the car is no more use? Over here, that sort of rocker panel rust would fail an MOT - our inspection - so it would have to be repaired somehow. Usually with roughly shaped and welded patches.

A custom L bracket from the bottom of the mount where the rocker goes ans then self tapped up above the hole would probably be the best bet

a co worker of mine loves to paint trucks/cars but only his truck/cars he chooses to work on ...he doesnt want to work for a shop where he is rushed... he actually has two hot rod covers with his work on display and a centerfold of his work in truck magazine...but now he works as a cad drafting engineer ....where he gets paid triple what he use to make at his other jobs..

Not my circus or monkey. But, not my 1st rodeo. Confused as to why replace the hood and bumper when they just need minor repair. The fender is even a pretty easy repair. Also, I'd have hit the customer up for a little more money and welded up the rockers on both sides. Not cosmetic, so fairly quick work. I realize it's an old car, but it's nice. Not really criticizing, just a different approach.
