Without your videos I wouldn’t of even considered doing this job, let alone all the previous successfully completed jobs on my first bathroom refit. Cheers pal 👍
Spot on well explained I’m a novice not a plumber and I’ll try fitting my own shower now I’ve seen this😀😀
After being let down by a tradie who did a shoddy job of our bathroom - resulting in water completely ruining the whole thing, we had a real mess on our hands.
I’m pretty handy, but had never done a bathroom before. This video and the one on installing shower wall was a massive help. Really happy with the end result and a huge relief to have it sorted properly.
I live watching these videos.... Theyre so informative.... And you explain things really well
James you make the tube bending look easy, excellent job!
The best part of your videos James is, when you're talking to the camera in such a slick, professional manner and then throw in an "OH MY GAWD!!". Brilliant!!! : )
Haha! Thanks man.
Finally got round to watching in full. The Crossbox showers are expensive but I've fitted some traditional ones which are the same price. I like the pressure test facility and you can swap the hot/cold module over. Thanks for the video matey. Enjoy the weekend.
Nice and comprehensive James. Great video, and glad you are making good use of your studio.
James, Great video very informative and well done for taking the time to explain each step individually. keep up the good work.
I'm a gas engineer plumber etc you explained this procedure very well I always struggle, now I'll be using your tips to fit a concealed valve next week 👍.
Good stuff Ranjit! The guys @crosswater will be chuffed!
@@plumberparts - Hi James, thanks for making your videos! - @9:50 you are wrapping Loctite 55 around the male thread BSP of one of the valve tails, does it matter if the fitting is tapered or parallel?
Super helpful video as ever, thanks James!!! Just got ourselves some gorgeous Crosswater brushed brass stuff and we’re also testing out using a Emmeti manifold in the bathroom instead of separate isolators, so this could get interesting! Would love a vid on pressure testing a system, what pressures, what should be bypassed, how to fill it up etc etc. All there is out there on RUclips are small pipe run tests which are obviously super easy to do! 👍 Keep up the awesome work!
No work today so I'm gonna be binge watching Jimmy. Lovely jubbly.
Great video, fitting my 1st concealed box tomorrow, but seems a great piece of kit.
Brilliant video James. Love that shower 🚿
brilliant video as always many thanks
Ive been fitting heating systems (not so much general plumbing) for over 20 years. To this day I hate the turning the water on stage! Doing my own bathroom soon so enjoying watching your videos on this stuff.
Excellent!! Fitting one tomorrow this vid is just what I needed! Talked them out of having herringbone style tile!😂
Top vid James, as per. Small tip with the wall chaser, to create even less dust run it from the top down, that way it doesn't blow dust out of the grooves you've just cut
You are good man
Thanks for explaining about using loctite for fixing the shower wand outlet ........... I couldn't workout how i was going to get the outlet to point down.
Great video, every step made very clear. Hoooolllllddddd tight.
Good video pal. I am doing one of these and this video has helped.
Great video Jimbo !!!
Awesome video jimmy. You are the best around at doing these videos mate.
Thanks mate, some people try to copy me but they're just shite! 😂
Just passed my NVQ 2 starting college for NVQ 3 and Gas next Friday 👌 great video even though I’ve done a couple of these not the exact same one , it’s always handy to watch your videos. Keep up with the good work James
Great video 👍
Brilliant... I want one
Nice video. Thank you very much.
Love your videos.... Great stuff
Fitted a load of these but never knew you could swap the hot and cold, had an apprentice do that so woulda been so handy if I knew that at the time! 😂
Fit the controls in the centre of the long wall behind the bath, and the shower heads where James has put them in the video. That way you can turn on the shower without getting damp.
I’m using Loctite 577 for my concealed shower valve. Seems simpler than what you used.
Still slightly apprehensive about covering up the home made pressure loop and 6 jets!!
Great video. It would be even better if you could chat about common troubleshooting like the thermostativ valve not being calibrated etc.
Good job geeza
Hi James. Thanks for your videos, I hung a wall-hung pan the other day and it was easy having watched you explain it. A question about the shower - I am installing the same handheld shower to an iron elbow in the wall… What should the distance from the elbow to the finished surface be? Flush or recessed a few mm? The Crosswater instructions online don’t make it easy, and I am doing first fix before I have got the handheld shower… Thanks chap!
Great video, iv used the loc tight since the product arrived on the market wouldn't use anything else ,i was told by the l/c rep to roughen the threds with a pair of grips or hack saw blade ,this helps the thread to grip the cord.
Good tip! I think roughing the threads also helps prevent PTFE from unraveling when you undo a fitting.
Awesome 👌🏽👍🏽
Cheers for this. Really helpful pressure testing as the instructions are awful!
Great video info for my bathroom I am about to fit. One question do you have a video for fitting a ceiling fix rainfall head to go with the equipment you just fitted
Thanks for the vid James. Would we need an impeller pump installed at the cylinder prior to doing this? To get enough pressure for the hot water.
Thanks for your vids mate really enjoying your content. Just a quick comment on you fixer foam; I’m a tiler (for my sins) and if installing a smaller metro tile you may run into issues long term if the tile ends up bonded to the wall less than 60 percent. Just my thoughts, I would say good to check tile size and material before using this method..
Hi Guys! Hope you all enjoy...this is a top shower! I bet some of you will comment on the foam...get stuffed! 😂

Struggling to find the foam you used mate, any chance you could post a link? Just about to install this system in my bathroom 👍
Nice video, this looks like an excellent product. the price seems seriously high though compared to say a digital shower?
Great video James, does anyone know if there could be an issue with the crossbox if there is whistling sound when adjusting selecting outlet or temperature ? cannot seem to find anything on line in relation to any known issues?
Excellent video. Thanks! Just a note though. I'm fitting one of these right now but my face plate has marked icons (unlike James's) for each outlet meaning you can't switch around the outlets from that stated in the booklet! I learnt the hard way and had to open up again to reconfigure pipework.
Yep, had the same problem! Luckily worked it out before I tiled!!
job well done . pls how did you do that double off set on that copper pipe to the bath fill on the left beside the hot pipe?
Thanks for the video.
Are you using compression olives or push fittings for the link copper / box ?
Is there any way to hard solder them?
Where did you get your Upvc cladding from? Thanks
@plumberparts thanks for the video James watching it in 2022. I had a quick question regarding the iron fittings that you talked about at 22:51. How did you install them? I have got a similar job but the iron fittings that I got are not deep enough and I can't screw them in place or into a stud or wall. Any suggestions mate ? Thanks
Nothing weird about using your own fittings...err...unless I'm neurotic too. Great video.
Hi James hi guys first of all great video it's help me a lot installing my crosswater unit but I have one issue whenever I turned any of my water sources in the house ,like my washing machine or my wash hand basin taps I get a dripping from my shower head. Guys what can I do to solve this issue please?
Do you have the link on where to buy the foam please? The dow great stuff pro says for windows..
Good evening james, I'm from Skegness starting my level 3 plumbing, I did my level 2 last year but as of yet I don't have any on site experience,,,,, I'll put it out there, would you take me on whilst I'm at college and possibly after I am 37 years old 38 in October and live in skegness, HOWEVER I'd be more then happy to get myself down to you and pay for my digs during the week, please dont feel pressured because that's not my Intention and don't worry I'm still watch your videos either way 🤙
Well Jeremy I hope there's never an age limit on being an asswipe because I wouldn't wanna see you out of a job.
You amazing
Why thank you!
Hi James great Video. I have fixed this shower but the water is not coming from shower head I have tested the water it’s coming from both holes but when I connect the valves it doesn’t come from the head can you help me out with this problem please.
James what is the shower screen you fitted? have you made a video fitting it?
Hi James, Why use Loctite 55 instead of PTFE?
Any idea how to adjust the thermostat within the shower??
Hi, really good video, I’m struggling to find out why the over flow has that small little tube on the left, it’s seems to be attached to the water inlet and overflow, surely water would just come out off this?
Installed one of these a while back, lucky I checked the outlet connections matched up with the face plate as the instructions were wrong although the online pdf was correct. Other than that nice bit of kit.
Could you show how to adjust the thermostat inside these showers...
Just out of curiosity- what is the best pressure testing unit to buy if there’s no mains water connected and you wish to test it as a dry fit.
great video!. wanted to ask when you use the screws to fix to the walls, do you use wall plugs? if not how does it stay secure to the wall.
Hi, these are thermalite blocks which will hold a screw. Don't try it with cinder blocks or old-fashioned breeze blocks though - you'll need to use a plug.
Which foam did you use please?
Lv the vids, but always fill bath up with water before sealing up.
What watch is that your wearing?
I think is fantastic product you used James the only thing scared me about concealed shower in 5 or 10 years time if you cartridge is gone you have to rip everything out to get it reaplace loved the video.
i recently fitted a concealed mixer in my own bathroom, the cartridge can be replaced by just removing the fascia, which is the case here as well.
Hi this video was very useful however I would like to know how to fit a concealed riser shower valve because it has no instructions to how far in or out of the wall it should be fitted
Hey man ive been watching your videos for a year now and ive just finished my level 2 plumbing but i havent found any apprenticeships or plumbers mate work do you have any advise me and others in my situation.
just go on indeed or cv library, search your area and search plumber or plumbers mate, just ring round as many agency's as you can get on there systems and go from there, just say you have experience and just fake it till you make it! You'll learn as ya go
Used your videos to completely fit my downstairs washroom about 3 years ago - I'm now back to tackle my ensuite. Love your videos and tips.
Why use copper piping though? Is it ok to use PVC pipe instead?
Any reason why you couldn't install this on the wall along the long side of the bath? That way you don't have to lean in and get your hands wet when turning on the shower.
damn just had a look on the store that Keter workbench is 86 quid on Amazon but only 55 (45ex vat) at toolstation or 54 for the B&Q own label version
Yeah I couldn’t find it any cheaper on Amazon!
@@plumberparts I have the b&q version and it is great try MAC ALLISTER FOLDING WORKSTATION. Ideal For Indoor and Outdoor Workshop Use www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07C23XL27/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_daoDDbDZ2QQA9
I love it Jaz!! Very impressed, it looks a better product than the iBox, which we’re currently fitting. I must compare prices👍
Lots of redeeming features on these & I’m sure they’ll sell lots.
Pass on my kindest regards to your long-suffering wife & I hope your erectile disfunction can be rectified with medication.

God you made a right dogs dinner out of that pipework haven’t you !
plumberparts the dog bites back
Haha🤣👍 good job mate.
Great video James.only done one of these installs before. Great tip with ptfe on threads for outlets could never get it to seal and face same way with ptfe. What do you think about the inaccessible compressions behind tiles etc what if they leak in the future?
Kev Wild unfortunately it’s part of the job. Pressure testing gets rid of the risk to a certain extent. Of course you could use soldereds.
can this shower system only be installed with a system boiler or could you just use a combination boiler????!!???
Either is fine
Yoooo whats.the name of that waste pipe mate???
Fantastic video, quick question. If you were running a business how much would you charge a customer to install this job?
Thats a hard one to answer...depends on area (London is different to Carlisle!) and if you were doing the tiling, how bad the walls are...the variations are endless! Glad you enjoyed dude!
jesus jones Jesus that got out of hand quickly...
Mat Smith 😂😂
jesus jones somebody’s had too much caffeine in the morning!!!
James, quick question buddy. Can I use this cross box or the grohe universal rough box thermostatic valve with aftermarket shower fascias? I’ve already bought a recessed shower mixer but it’s not thermostatic and wanted to upgrade to one of these.
Did you ever get an answer to this? The answer would be super helpful. Thanks!
@@denverdana09 what a co-incidence. So I rang Grohe today. They said you can’t. 😩.
I don’t see why they call it a ‘universal rough in box’. That name is so misleading.
@@haroon420 Ughhhhh. The word "universal" was the only thing giving me hope. Thanks for the speedy reply!
@@denverdana09 I know. You can pick up the rough in box for about £50. But if you want the trim cover, it’s like £300!!!! I won’t be spending that kind of money, I’m not Jeff Bezos!
After 5 years that left suply to the Bath wil going to leak. Ij Holland we arrnt even alowed to use these fittings in walls were u cant see them.
If i may ask, why you didnt solder everything ore used machine to press the fittings like Viegapress ore vsh?
None the less its good vid
Wouldn’t you fit check valves to this?
Nice install video! Does this product let you run both shower heads at the same time? Your test only showed four positions for the diverter (OFF / bath fill / shower head / deluge head). Or can you go half way between the positions? Aren’t these products a bit old school now? You have to REACH into the bath to turn on the shower, getting half your arm wet (at a temperature that isn’t warm yet, even worse...) - wish there were more products out there that addressed this
Mat Smith on this you can’t go halfway. Crosswater listen loads to us so I’m sure they’ll read this and take that into account.
with the concealed pipework the mixer can go anywhere: I fitted my mixer at the other end of the bath, means its above your head when you lie down in it so i made sure it was high enough not to bump heads. this means the shower can be turned on and adjusted without leaning around the shower screen and getting wet... very handy when you have little kids as well!
bigdbaldydom Thanks!
bigdbaldydom hate bumping heads in the shower
Wish there was a digital shower with 3 outlets so I could get this setup
I thought Aqualisa did a digital shower with three outlets? Maybe not.
Anyone know if this shower kit works on a combi boiler?!?!?!???
Yes it does
Max depth on a 100 block wall is 33mm being 1/3 the width of said block......
I like the foam idea. But using compression fittings behind wall coverings is never a good idea surely?
what else you gunna use to connect to the mixer?
@@LazRBuMzGB end feed Male irons/back plate elbows
Still a chance of leaking either way, gotta be confident with what you fit
It’s the nature of the beast. I’ve never had a problem to date...but then I’m fitting it! 😂😜
I wouldn't use compression fittings in concealed systems
Do you use those shower wall panels in the real world or would you prefer tiles ? They seem a lot less likely to leak than tiles and could be put straight onto plasterboard
imagine if you only took your good wood chisels to chase out the masonry.
What wall chaser are you using there? #FoamKing 😂
That’s a Titan one but I added the nearest type in he store.
What is going on at 16:18? Lmao
My six-year-old granddaughter calls our plumber, The Bummer!.......He's not by the way .
That is a tidy shower.
Not a good idea to use compression fittings in a wall
Yep thats Not good in a wall
Hi james I've started watching your vids for a bit now to start learning and I've started a RUclips channel aswell (14yearoldplumber) no spaces. I post videos of me learning trying to help other people. I also go on jobs with my dad and film there when I can. It would be great if you could check it out thanks
Will do bro - turn your flame down a bit - that’s what I always say to apprentices!
Ok thanks
Great video , but your not right in the head ,,,,,,,, lol
