Yeah but you’re forgetting Fey Wanderer was up against some serious favorites Swords bard Conquest paladin Mutant Blood Hunter Divine soul sorcerer Artillerist Artificer Giant Barbarian Necromancer Wizard Ascendant Dragon Monk And Fiend Warlock Not like those are easy to run against for any subclass
A cool idea that i use a while ago was that my rapier was the arc (i think thats the name of the piece in english :p) of the violin. In this way i don't need to switch between the instrument and the weapon when i cast spells
Also glad to hear that a bard subclass was not the last chosen for once. Swords Bard mixed with battle master fighter and inquisitor rogue Is one of the most powerful damage dealing support classes that I have ever experienced at the table.
What was the mix on that? That just seems stretched pretty thin. I mean, just for the subclasses alone, you'd need level 9. And that's without magical secrets or font of inspiration or master's flourish. I mean, I can see how they might come together at tier 3 or tier 4, but who plays games that high level? Just curious...
I love this bunches! My owlin swashbuckler rogue and swords bard is my favorite character I've ever played! Bellamy would be proud to hear how wonderful you find his subclass.
I had a pirate character from a Fairy Tail fanfic that I was gonna play in Baldur’s Gate 3, and my buddy suggested the Swords Bard. Looks like he was right on the money. Also, please make a YMBA for Tempest Cleric.
I just wanted to say. It’s thanks to you that I have started to try bard. And yeah swords bard is my new second favorite class (first is echo knight and third is draken warden)

"Can I just use Wish to get a level 20 capstone that doesn't suck ass?" So wish we all. (Except artificers, _they_ have a really good reason not to multiclass.) But either way, the level 20 capstone of a bard is completely irrelevant because of course you're going to take a warlock level somewhere down the line, probably hexblade in the case of the swords (and valor) bard. As for Countercharm, it could be a really easy fix. "A creature that expends a Bardic Inspiration they received from you on a saving throw they make to resist or break out of an effect that charms or frightens them has advantage on that saving throw." There, Thaumaturges of the Beach. Was it so hard?
What's the build? Both swashbuckler and swords bard are so good, when do you leave either to take the other? Rogues get greater sneak attack and great defensive abilities (uncanny dodge, evasion, etc) and swords bard gets better spells, magical secrets, and master's flourish. Both are so good. How did you split the difference?
@@ericpeterson8732 however you want. Pick which features are most important to you. It's hard to pass up Magical Secrets, but I definitely think getting to at least 6th level in Swords Bard is important for the Extra Attack.
a friend of mine played a swords bard that was literally a hybrid of jack sparrow and tulio from the road to el dorado, he was the most fun character in the campaign and he played his character perfectly. sword bards are one of my favorite classes to play alongside
One of the best multiclass options I've found with this subclass is to start with 2 levels in Paladin, going Swords Bard the rest of the way. I'm sure you can imagine just how busted that can get. 😉
Yeah i do love my "totally not just cosplaying a Red Mage from Final Fantasy, what are you talking about" bard, I'm just hoping the new PH's improvements to the core class elevates it to it's full potential.
To this day, the most immortal character I have ever played was a multiclassed Vengeance Paladin/Swords Bard. Defense fighting style, +2 full plate armor, shield of the silver dragon (yes this was a Curse of Strahd campaign), shield of faith, shield, haste, and defensive flourish could get me to 40 temporary AC. The only reason my DM allowed me to become the monstrosity I was was because our party comp lacked a healer and because I was the only one who could use most of the important magic items (party comp was myself as a vengeance paladin, a fey wanderer ranger, psi warrior fighter, and hexblade warlock) so as such, my party would beg the DM to let me become the monstrosity because they all realized that they couldn’t let me die at any cost.
Fav Bard subclass and with the Hexblade dip (1-3) it is S-tier build. Any way you build it chances are you are good and you have skills making you better at everything including initiative. Whatever happens you have the answer in your kit.
0:33 Hey, that's Jonathan Young in the top-left corner! His Sea Shanty Metal album rocks; check it out if you haven't already. There are a lot of talented people on his crew. I shared it with my DM and now he's keeping it on reserve for if we ever do another seafaring campaign. Maybe I'll play a College of Swords bard for that.
I have a question, have any of you played 2nd Edition of DnD? Do you know the name of the Paladin subclass that wasn’t allowed to help people with good alignments or they break their oath? It’s not the Oathbreaker subclass. It was basically a murder hobo, but it was a subclass. I been trying to find out the name of the subclass. The subclass was only in 2nd edition.
0:29 Because somebody took a minor in engineering and multiclassed into artificer, obviously 8:07 Wish granted! According to UA for OneD&D, you now get Power Words Heal and Kill for free
I wonder if I could convince my DM to let me replace the scimitar with one of those singing saws. When I'm not bending the saw to make it sing, I could use it to saw through bone, flesh, and whatnot.
would love to see my favorite jedi fighter: the psi warrior get a video one day too. or my favorite flavor of ranger: the horizon walker too just to see it get a little love
I’m trying to create a swords bard with one level of hexblade for a friends short campaign. I went the other way with this and decided to play a heavy metal tank bard. Not sure how to get the swords part right but for now I’m starting with a handaxe doubling as an electric lute. Also: fathomless warlock next please
with the new humblewood book, I'd love to see some of the new subclasses covered. i had a twilight cleric made like samwise gamgee, and just changed it to community domain and am having the best time in curse of strahd
I think the reason some people hate bards is because in earlier editions (mostly 3 or 3.5) bards were considered weak. They didn´t hit as hard as a fighter, cast powerful spells like a mage or had sneak attack like rogues. Add to that the pictures of bards were always a guy with a lute singing while everyone else was fighting, meaning you would buff your party and let them do the heavy lifting and it´s understandable why many hated them. I remember in The Gamers 2, where a character was obsessed with playing a bard, he keeps creating new characters because he keeps dying over and over to the point that another character uses the pile of dead bards to protect himself from an attack
I came up with the ultimate bard weapon, the literal guitar axe literally what it sounds like, can u guys give me more suggestions please for other instrument weapons
Man I do my bard no favors. I cannot play it to its maximum glory. But I do agree, I love this character build a lot. When I’m on my game I have a lot of fun with it.
My concern with that pairing would be ability scores. Both want high Dex, but the Bard wants high Cha whereas the Bladesinger is still a Wizard and wants good Int for spellcasting and for AC during bladesong. You might end up with a suboptimal spread unless you rolled your stats and got 3 18s or something.
This has been my class/kit of choice since 2e. The fact it's not in the 5.24 revision yet might well be one of the biggest reasons I'm not going to bother with 5.24 Also note that if you are playing in a Westmarches campaign you can even more heavily lean into these different styles of play by having different attunement items for different party roles. Almost guaranteeing you can plug any role which needs to be plugged.
How to explain how bad Countercharm is, Twilight domain clerics from level 2 can just end charmed or frightened whenever you end your turn in their channel divinity aura for 1 minute per short rest, 2 at level 6 when bards get this feature. An simple upgrade to this effect that doesn’t change its intended use and since it doesn’t have any alternative effects buff it up to fit a 6th level feature, is to make it capable of just ending charmed or frightened on an ally inside the Countercharm area proficiency bonus times per short rest for 1 minute per use at the start of their turn instead of the end of the turn like twilight domain does.
What does everyone think about Countercharm as a bonus action? In reality I can distract my allies in a reaction so I’m thinking I split the difference
Glad to hear that the Bard subclass wasn't the last one chosen for once. That honor may end up going to the fey wanderer Ranger this time.
Prolly because of the love for pirates and sword...a no brainer actually🤔🤷🏻♂️
Which is a shame because the Fey Wanderer is pretty badass.
Nah. The circle of dreams keeps scoring lower, but the past 3 times, I've loved all the subclasses, so I don't mind all that much at this rate.
Yeah but you’re forgetting Fey Wanderer was up against some serious favorites
Swords bard
Conquest paladin
Mutant Blood Hunter
Divine soul sorcerer
Artillerist Artificer
Giant Barbarian
Necromancer Wizard
Ascendant Dragon Monk
And
Fiend Warlock
Not like those are easy to run against for any subclass
The fey wanderer watching literally every subclass being chosen instead of him while mold takes control of his body.
THE ANGUISH. Fey Wanderer is one of my favorite subclasses in the game.
Love the idea of a bladesinging wizard swords bard where your sword is your instrument
A cool idea that i use a while ago was that my rapier was the arc (i think thats the name of the piece in english :p) of the violin. In this way i don't need to switch between the instrument and the weapon when i cast spells
so brook from one piece pre timeskip and early post.
"Leave her Johnny" in this vid is a no brainer thumbs up, the best Shanty and the best memories i have of gaming
Look out! It’s the Rizzler!
Also glad to hear that a bard subclass was not the last chosen for once. Swords Bard mixed with battle master fighter and inquisitor rogue Is one of the most powerful damage dealing support classes that I have ever experienced at the table.
This bard subclass also works with ranged weapons.

@@ericpeterson8732 Honestly good question. I could see four levels of each to equal 12 which would be obtainable for an end of a module.
My first bard was actually a dancing swords bard with castanets that ended up being the party tank. Defense flourish was my favorite!
Already watched this 30 times certified classic
I love this bunches! My owlin swashbuckler rogue and swords bard is my favorite character I've ever played! Bellamy would be proud to hear how wonderful you find his subclass.
So... I'm French. Rouge is a color. Rogue is a class.
@JudgeMagisterSnow oops my bad
GREAT song. Inspired, even. 👑
why is that song so good though
I concur

Would love to see Abberant Mind Sorcerer or Circle of Stars Druid at some point
...and now I'll go log into Black flag & sail around to sing shanties. Thanks for the suggestion! Great sub to a great class, tons of fun to play
My favorite subclass to mix with the Swashbuckler Rogue. They synergize very nicely.
What's the build? Both swashbuckler and swords bard are so good, when do you leave either to take the other? I KNOW IM LATE! but Hexblade and Sword bard like a curse rapier is cool

Yo! DJ Pimiento Cheese is back. Hell yeah!!!
Fav Bard subclass and with the Hexblade dip (1-3) it is S-tier build. Any way you build it chances are you are good and you have skills making you better at everything including initiative. Whatever happens you have the answer in your kit.
i love this bard. I think is neat the pirate aesthetic, but one of my best sword bard is a ronin that uses a shamizen as his bard spellcasting focus.
Basically Zenitsu from Demon Slayer but he can do magic

You are absolutely killing these videos and I can’t get enough!❤️
Yet another amazing video. I love the quality and the variety of jokes that you have keep it up. I can’t wait to see what more you have
Glad to hear the DJ will be returning in the future.
Im really hoping for you to cover Tragedy bard ! Its the perfect Shakespeare nerd class and its such a unique take. Its all about reward and loss

Wow, I am literally in the middle of making a Swords Bard, and this pops up. I didn't even think about making a pirate lol.
Watching a campaign with a guy triple classing Swords Bard, Divine Soul Sorcerer and Hexblade Warlock and it's pretty nuts.
I love all of the bard classes, but this Gish is probably my favorite for the RP beyond combat.
Man now i wanna play a Pirstes campaign with swords bards, swashbucklers, fathomless warlocks and moon druids
You are giving me ideas. Also, that song was amazing.
0:29 Because somebody took a minor in engineering and multiclassed into artificer, obviously
8:07 Wish granted! According to UA for OneD&D, you now get Power Words Heal and Kill for free
Honey, wake up. DJ Pimento Cheese is on.
I want a full version of that bard song :)
Steel Wind Strike with a swords bard is just so thematic
I absolutely love my Kobold Swords Bard! He's such a rascal and is always looking for a good fight/duel.
1:40 not the Yoko Ono jump scare 😭😭😭
I wonder if I could convince my DM to let me replace the scimitar with one of those singing saws. When I'm not bending the saw to make it sing, I could use it to saw through bone, flesh, and whatnot.
hey bro, I frreaking love this video. thanks.
That sound was f*ING wicked my dude 😂
Sword bard/swashbuckler rouge will always be my favorite cross class.

I like the idea of a College of Swords Bard flavored as a chef.
Thanks for the content.
This was great! I think Swords Bards are my favorite class/subclass combo at this point. Could you do Psi Warrior Fighter soon?
with the new humblewood book, I'd love to see some of the new subclasses covered. i had a twilight cleric made like samwise gamgee, and just changed it to community domain and am having the best time in curse of strahd
Been playing a Triton Swords Bard Hexblade for about two years and it’s ridiculously fun. Granted my DM is ready to kill me 😂.
You know what time is it?
It's PIRATE PARTY TIME!!!
1:46 OBJECTION!
Drunken Saxophone Master
A goblin sword bard is awesome! Nimble escape for the win.

That is an actual good question
DMs can wish be used to change a lvl20 capstone?

You could pull a Fire Emblem Fates and have a 'violin bow' that more resembles those electric violins out there
Flute sword that plays when swung. Maybe make it a charge thing?
El Mariachi, Antonio Banderas in Desperado.
Puss In Boots, also Antonio Banderas
This is my all time favorite class!!!!

Sword Bard also works very well for gladiators. And for sword bards, their weapon is their instrument. No lute required.
FINALLY my favorite class
as blink 182 said " a mexican pirate"
I currently have a swords bard 8, bladesinger 2 and hexblade 1 drow.
I used it for the dark urge in bg3 and I fell in love if I play d&d for some reason am gonna be a swords bard
im making a swashbuckler/collage of swords character just becuse of you, i hope my DM approves of the BS i can do
anyway, here's wonderwall
I feel like tapdancing would be the best channel for his power
i was thinking Julie d'Aubigny, actually
She's THE Swords Bard of history. Fucking legend.
Can we please get the rest of the bard subclasses?
WOOOOOO! More YMBA let's gooooo
Odd combo I want to try is Sword Bard/Oath of Conquest Paladin. No idea why though.
Yoo El Dorado mentioned
With so many great 18th level abilities followed by crappy level 20 capstones, what are the best 2 level dips?

Swords bard /paladin is also nice

Felix Jaege form Gotrek & Felix
