Yay! My palate finally had a lightbulb moment this morning, and I am now crossing the (now former) hitch moment without a hitch! I notice that I can feel my soft palate touching my hard palate (I think?) when forming the vowels A, E, O, and U--as well as the sounds AH (i.e., "father") and AW (i.e., "brawl"). Thank you for your lovely and continued videos, Jeff! I rely on them heavily! I miss my vocal prof Rick Uran from Western Michigan University, as well as the Voice for Education Prof from Eastern Michigan University (unsure of name because of bad seizure episodes at that time wiping out surrounding memories). But, he was the one who told us, "If you wake every morning with an irresistible song in your heart, you were born to sing. Don't resist it!" And, if he came to the McDonald's where I worked, he would great me with a heartily, cheerfully sung, "Hel-LOHHHH, CAR-OHHHL!" I was incredibly embarrassed at the time, but I realize now what love was behind it. :)
Have had a chronic cough due to asthma flare ups for three months and I’m finding my voice is starting to get really bad, and I know I need to not avoid singing, but I was able to get through this gentle warm up without going into a fit. Usually I’m a mezzo, but I’m glad this is available to help build my vocals back.
Those times are hard. I'm having a bit of a rough time myself right now, and I know I need to be patient, but it's scary. Take it slow, try to have patience and kindness for yourself.
ohhhh this is a nice soothing one! I like :) Also, holy haircut, batman! I love that whenever you cut your hair, even a little, I suddenly notice your earrings again LOL
Hey Mandy! Always so nice to hear from you! Yes indeed! It was looking a bit sad on top so I had to take action! Thank you for noticing my earrings. They were something I always knew I had to have for some reason. All the best! Jeff
Love the new warm up. I'm singing Sondheim as ensemble, so challenges and key changes galore ... great way to warm up and relax my throat for rehearsal. Like this even better than ever ...
Thanks, Jeff! Singing a lot on Sunday, our technical crew wants us to sing a lot so they can the sound on zoom just right 😁 Mondays I like a gentle warm up to rest my voice. This video is just right! Nice haircut 😊
Wonderful, Heidi! Don't let the tech crew push you too hard. If it starts to get onerous or compromise your performance, let them know that they need to get their levels sorted more quickly. In a kind way, of course. Thank you! re: haircut! I had to do something. It was looking too scraggly! Best, Jeff
😊 thanks for the hint, during normal times we are lucky to get a short practice run so this is new for us. Our tech crew have become the crew just a few weeks ago, we are still learning. 😆 I gave my husband a similar haircut. He's staying home and so I had to be his barber . Thanks again for all the work!🙌🙌
Bravo Maestro!! thanks a lot. It's very helpful for me to explore other sides of my voice. I truly appreciate this awesome video and also the agility one (really it makes the sound leggero)
Thanks Jeff! Really like seeing you play the piano part of the time to see what notes I'm singing. Also no offence meant; but if you have curls I say flont them! Bless you!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! You can get in touch via my website www.jeffrolka.com/connect-2 and we can see if lessons or a consultation will work! Best, Jeff
Hello! I've got a few playlists made for harmonization! As for tenor and alto, the overlap is quite significant in the ranges, but it sounds like you're getting stuck around the middle registration event. That would be the thing to look at! ruclips.net/p/PL2mQP7sE6PHjjytUwLZy-IV0hGhbD3kg7 ruclips.net/p/PL2mQP7sE6PHgehL_Vorbr-_V42GkrYhv3 Best, Jeff
Hello Master. I d like to ask an opiniom please. At age of 34 i had tonsillectomy. After that I lost 8 semitones of my.....falsetto range that never came back. Could u gimme ur opinion please? Thank you so much. Marco
I'm sorry to hear that. Some vocal function can change after a tonsillectomy, though I do not believe it is common. You may need to consult with your surgeon or see an ENT to get some answers. That would be my advice. Sorry to hear about that! I hope they have a good answer for you that can then be implemented into your vocal practice. All the best, Jeff
Of all your warm ups, which I use daily, this one is MOST AWESOME! Thank you!
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
