This was fun! The one person disliking this had an ugly vocal break in the segundo passagio, lol? Though, I'll admit, my favorite of the warmups are the ones that have tritones in them.
Thanks so much for thissssss!!!!! I love your videos, I really struggle with the Segundo passagio and this video help, particularly when trying to mix, because I sing mostly musical theatre
Hi Jeff. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I just did this warm-up for the 1st time. I usually do the other mezzo soprano full range warm that you have on YT. I had always thought I was an alto but I could do that warm up fine so I thought maybe I moved into the mezzo range. I find this video more difficult. Could the exercises in this video help me eventually extend my range or do you think it's bad to do this if it's difficult?
It depends on how it's difficult for you. Also, in full range videos such as this one, one will do best if they are making successful transitions across their various passaggi. If you're not familiar with any of that, have a look at some of my 'how to sing over the break' videos or the alto and mezzo comprehensive warm up videos. They'll cover the requires for that technique and get you started if you're not familiar with it. I hope that helps! Jeff
I've been warming up to this when I should have been warming up Alto! I can hit both ranges. Just more comfortable in Alto. Can people range from Alto to Soprano? I'm thinking like Ariana Grande?!
Heyyyy jeff! Is it okay to use an head voice/ falsetto when reaching a high note with this warm up? Btw, I'm actually an alto , and your videos really help me improve and develop my voice to a higher range. I am more comfortable now with the mezzo soprano warm up😊
Jeff, I'm confused as to which voice type exercises I should be using for your warm ups. I sing Alto 1 in my choir and my secondo passaggio is right around D5. I'm most comfortable singing from F3-E5 though I can phonate as high as Eb6 and as low as D3. In the past I have followed your alto exercises since that's the choral part I sing but I find that you start descending in all of the videos before I'm ready too. Please advise. And thank you, so much!
Hello Alisa! Interesting question. You might find the more general 'higher voices' videos suit your overall range better. Perhaps give these a try: ruclips.net/video/AMwHzX56eLg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/zV9g83L56-s/видео.html If you haven't already, that is. Let me know your thoughts on them, and I can do more in that style. Best! Jeff
@@JeffRolka quick update. I was able to ascend a bit higher but overall found the exercises to be a bit too fast. I love the sustained notes exercises! I had no problem descending to the lowest scale, (go altos!), but definitely struggled at a third above my second passaggio and beyond. The exercises were mostly quick through that area and I wasn't able to transition smoothly. This is why I sing alto 1 as opposed to the melody! Thanks for your help! You're the best!
Jeff Rolka is the Bob Ross of singing
Hahaha!
😂😂😂
Omygod i love your videos. You are so authentic, chill no shouting or trying to look and sound cOoL
Thank you! I appreciate it! I hope you enjoy the channel!

I have to say "thank you" once again! I thought I was an Alto, but it seems that, thanks to your vocal warm-ups, I now am a Mezzo!

De rien! J'espère que la caméra vous travaille bien!

There's quite a lot of overlap in the vocal fachs. Voice designation depends largely on registration event location.
Thanks for watching!
Jeff
Actually I can hit these notes, some in falsetto. I'm going to keep practicing to get it to my chest voice!
Can you make falsetto notes to head voice??? (Sorry my english is not so good)

Absolutely! Good registration event technique is a big part of my teaching! Great work! Thanks for being here!

We have to switch to head voice sometimes right?
Yes, the idea is to transition smoothly. Best!
