    THIS IS JUST WHAT I NEEDED! I have rested my voice for a few days because it just didn't seem to be going places as much as I would want. After doing this warm up, it feels better and easier already. Lovely build up throughout the video, gently moving along and working up to a crescendo. Thank you enormously Kathleen, you're a GEM.

    I did this warmup and for the first time in forever I had fun singing! I could hit high notes again, and it felt great. I had a bad bout of laryngitis last November that has weakened my voice ever since. I had a couple of months of speech therapy, but while it helped my speaking voice, my singing voice didn't benefit as much. This warmup helped me feel less constricted and more able to move with my voice. I'm genuinely so happy right now, lol. Thank you!

    Just a note to say thank you. So grateful for this video. I had acute laryngitis and it's taking me a while to get my singing voice back. which stirred up a lot of anxiety in me! Reminded me of having a vocal nodule 20 years ago and a lot of fear came up, remembering how emotional it was to lose my singing voice for a long period of time. Watching you and being guided by your videos has felt reassuring and comforting. I'm already hearing some improvements with vocal quality and range. You have such a reassuring and fun presence, and I love your kitty cat too. You remind me of the singing version of Yoga with Adriene (and her sweet dog Benji), and that's a high compliment! Keep doing your thing, you rock.

    Not a singer but an interpreter with a recovering voice loss. This feels so gentle, not only on my vocal chords but on my soul. I felt like wanting to cry almost after every exercise. I have a lot of trauma stored in my upper chest and throat. I hope my voice will become more and more powerful with time. Thank you for this!

    You are the best! I cried so many tears loosing my voice to perimenopause! I was shocked - had no idea it was even a thing. I appreciate the most when you focus on the mid range because I am definitely loosing that range - while everything drops lower/ it’s changing and doesn’t know where to land. ❤thank you so much. Keep making videos always!

    Just discovered your videos ... you/your group is fantastic. Just what I need. And I've been trying all sorts of warmups online. Also good : ) But yours is the best for me right now. 1, your teaching is very clear, 2, your pace is good, 3, having the text up when needed is nice - but one of the most helpful things is, 4, seeing you sing and hearing your voice - I don't know if it's seeing the mouth shape, being able to hear a clear matching pitch, or what. Your titles are very relevant. Thanks!

    I am 59 years old, I used to sing a lot before 2010 but after two very bad colds I stopped singing regularly and lost the softness of the sound of my voice. This worsened with the two years of covid situation. I am enjoying going back to singing step by step, with your guidance, but I realize that I also need exercises aimed at strengthening the abdominal muscles in order to improve my performance. Since I haven't seen all your videos yet, can you point me to one that can help me?

      Hi, thanks for your comment. There are a lot of breath-specific exercises, thought I do advocate for simply singing a lot! I have a video that has some more vigorous exercises - if you'd like to try it, just go easy! Keep singing! Thank you and bless you for your help!!!! After much vocal use/abuse (but wonderfully fun) singing with elementary school children, I am now retired. I've enjoyed your videos, in trying to re-gain a nicer vocal sound, vocal reliability, vocal flexibility, trying to "repair" occasional Vocal breaks, the ability to sustain pitches...as someone else commented, there is a weakness in my middle voice (at age 65), too...I love your "Vocal Function/Stemple" video and this "Vocal Rehabilitation" one.... Was "scoped" about 15 years ago. by an ENT, ..no nodules then, insurance allowed for me to go for some sessions at Dayton, OH area facility "Blaine Block Institute". I still do those exercises sometimes... I am also using "The Breather" and "Singing Straw". 😍. My singing is through church choir and occasional other opportunities but my voice has been unreliable. If I get a bad cold? it immediately "goes" to laryngitis. Have cut out coffee...just drink water and herbal teas....Thanks for hearing me...Any tips? are appreciated, but I'm sure that you are very busy!! You're a great teacher. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.

    Hi
    Loving your warm ups - trying to rehabilitate a voice which has suffered from tension and strain. How often /how many reps of each exercise do you suggest ?

    • @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
      @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen  8 месяцев назад

      This is a great follow along video for exactly what you've mentioned. You may need to go a bit by feel - if there's pain or too much tension, or hoarseness, it's probably best to take a little break. Many people find that doing a little bit a few times each day is better than trying to do a lot at once.

    I had a planned surgery 4 weeks ago where a LMA was placed (thought of as being less harmful to the larynx). After surgery I am unable to vocalize at all in my upper range. I am devastated. I am an alto and could easily reach C5. Currently I can only reach D4. I am seeing an ENT next week. Just wondering if you or others have any experience with this? Thanks

    • @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
      @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen  3 года назад +1

      Hello! I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. ENT and getting scoped is 100% the best choice. Until then, I'd do as much vocal rest as possible until they're sure what's going on so you don't do any further damage. After they know, make sure they hook you up with a speech-language pathologist for the best treatment plan. Once you're cleared to speak/sing, take note of these exercises, which are very common for rehabilitation: ruclips.net/video/C9PzSTbGw88/видео.html Best of luck!

    • @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen

      It can be hard to get the hang of lip trills. You might try gently holding the corners of your mouth so you can really relax and focus on moving the air. Keep trying! And in the meantime, it's ok to sing on something like a vvvv or zzzz.
