It is the best television show ever produced. For the longest time I would have said the first three seasons of "The Wire" but someone came at the king and didn't miss. (RIP MKW) This show is also very rewatchable with something new discovered each time.
Totally agree. Season 3 and 4 of The Wire comes close for me, especially with Michael and Namond. But there’s just something magical about Season 1 of True
6:45 they were deffo using the stims as performance enhancers, ime if you cross a line dose-wise the effects flip and you start getting drowsy/nodding and cohles face in this scene kinda makes me think thats what he was going thru there 0 ,o) lights burn inside but nobodies home type look
Man this scene really is what made me be like “holy shit this is a good show” when I first watched true detective. I didn’t even make it all the way through season 2 it was so bad 😂 and season 3 was just okay. I recently started rewatching S1 so this video is perfect timing. Ready for the warrior recap though!
20:36 I would've liked to hear your feedback on Ginger saying something along the lines of "we're surrounded" (I'm paraphrasing as I forget what he actually said), as though he still believed Cohl was on his side.
Goes to show just how convincing Rust was. I think Ginger suspected Rust until he agreed to join the robbery. At that point Ginger was so fucked up on drugs and adrenaline that he probably didn’t think much of Rust. Also in his mind he’s probably thinking “there’s no way he’d agree to do this if he was undercover” since it was such a crazy mission
I think Marty actually acted well under his disguise of a mumbling doofus who is mistaken, the most effective way to see what's happening without getting your ass beaten.
Man I love this show! Happy to have found your video, you’ve earned a subscription from me! More scene breakdowns of True Detective would be amazing! 😉
Appreciate it! We’ll be doing episode breakdowns for True Detective Season 4 (whenever that finally airs). We’ve got some more True Detective Season 1 stuff cooking as well so stay tuned
22:11 isn’t correct. The woman sees them and calls them back but they immediately start shooting towards Rust and Ginger. You can hear the very faint whistle of gunfire as they climb the fence and the gang members come back into view. Another close shave!
8:15 its also a benefit to him that hes been railing coke/who knows what other stims for hours at that point so him repeatedly glancing around at his surroundings would not only not be suspicious, itd probably help strengthen his cover as a strung out biker fella
3:21 id be shocked if that was coke ngl, coming from sm1 who has experience re: drug use and addiction- regardless of the circumstances and what its mixed with you wouldnt offer sm1 coke if theyve just themselves given you a huge bag of coke. clearly he has all the coke he could want. it couldve been meth or couldve been a mix of stuff, no way to tell but definitely (imo) cut with either a strong opioid (ion think fent or zenes were around when this show was airing so whatever heroin/other strong street opioid was going around at the time) or a disso (pcp or ket). i got the impression he was both tryna gauge where rusts tolerance was at (if it hit him too hard despite "crash" purportedly being a junkie thats sus asf) as well as throw him off-kilter to test his cover-story . also, i think rust knew what he was doing and had planned for it which is why he waited until after he was questioned to bring out the coke- his tolerance *was* actually lower and taking out the bag for ginger to try spared him from having to speak/recall his cover story for precious minutes. the way rust says "after all i meant to you" knowingly makes me think hes either been through this routine himself before or seen others go through it with ginger as a bystander.
3 out of the 4 bikers were members of dangerous biker gang. The redheaded guy "Ginger" is the one leading that small crew. Rust (Matthew McConaughy) is a cop but he's undercover as a biker. His partner Marty is driving the getaway vehicle. Rust wants to get Ginger alone so that he can interrogate him on the whereabouts of a meth cooker that is doing work for the gang. Ginger refuses to talk to Rust unless he assists him with robbing the stash house in the projects. That is why Rust has to go on the robbery. mission, but the second things go wrong, he takes Ginger as a hostage and gets out of there.
I saw this an clicked with out reading because i thought last episode of warrior that i gotta say I didnt love as much even though the end was some what funny with the Li Yong tong
@@winterhillwarriors I lost my sister to meth so I guess i will never watch this show because I hate it that much but w/e glad you liked it, the show not the drug
@@timgersh6787they don't romanticize drug use. Matthew goes undercover, and everybody's heavily armed. I wasn't sure he was going to make it out. It's at night, there are helicopters, spotlights. It's technically the most exciting scene I've ever seen. I'm sorry about your sister. I hate meth too.
We’re deep diving into season 1 of True Detective, check it out:

This breakdown is phenomenal.
You guys ramble with honesty.
Honesty is attractive, especially.
Coherent, minimal honesty is a good thing.
Hahaha we ramble a ton for sure

Well said man. I always felt like it takes one to know one. Hope you never had a problem.

Season 2 was a complete disaster and agree on Season 3 being somewhat decent. We have big expectations for Season 4

i haven't watched this series but now that i have watched this video, i am definitely going to watch it
thanks guys
You won’t regret it. Season 1 is a classic.
I envy you
Of course the “punches” really injured ginger, a gun is still also a very expensive brass knuckle
22:11 isn’t correct. The woman sees them and calls them back but they immediately start shooting towards Rust and Ginger. You can hear the very faint whistle of gunfire as they climb the fence and the gang members come back into view. Another close shave!
Good call
Great breakdown bro. Please do Fargo season 1 and 2.

Comparing rusts performance to morbious is absolutely heinous, even as a joke 😂
Disrespectful for sure but imagine the crossover potential…”Morbius 2: Carcosa Unleashed”
That is bathroom brew he snorts. Meth or something close
Finally someone gives an answer
nah, not meth. wouldnt be a stimulant or primarily a stimulant- id guess disso or opioid.
So my ??? Is the Helicopter… is there since they got into the car and all through the scene…. Who were they??? Bikers/Cops???

I think since its an area of high crime the real cops are just always watching it like that, as a deterrent

Finale was a little all over the place but still had some good moments. We’ll have a video on that out within the next few days

My only complaint about your True Detective breakdowns is that they're not 5 hours longer
Appreciate that, man. I’m sure we’ll drop some more analysis videos on S1 someday.
