    I have recently bought a Phoxx Tent and this is a solution to a problem I found that I will be using! The tent has its flaws but this mod cancels out the main problem everyone has when putting it up in the rain. Great video, great idea, earned a subscriber!

      I think the Phoxx, like any other shelter, has its “issues” but all in all it’s one of the best tents in its price range and one of the best things about it is how adaptable it is. Thanks for watching meht, I’m glad you found the video useful

    But wouldn't it be best to make sure that the poles go through the paracord loops either side of the pole sleeve so that any stress is put on the poles and not the sleeves?

    Hi, Great review, but was wondering how well the bottom of the tent stands up to wear n tear? I have just bought this tent but was surprised that the bottom of the tent is not reinforced, it's just the same material as the rest of tent, and there are tape seals running along inner bottom! Do these seals stay intact after frequent use? Is the bottom easily punctured by gravel n sharp stones? I have decided to buy a tarp groundsheet just in case. Appreciate your thoughts on that. Happy camping! Jay.

    I’ve seen this done before but i opted for an alternative mod on my phoxx2. I just took four pole clips that i salvaged from an abandoned tent and tied them onto each of the outers tie points. Simply pitch inner then click, click, click, click and then peg out the outer.

    • @KernowCamps
      @KernowCamps  Год назад

      I’d love to see some photos of how you’ve done that? If you can pick me up on Instagram and send me some. Thanks for watching

      @@KernowCamps i’m not on insta unfortunately but its simply just four clips identical to the 6 clips whats already on the phoxx2 that go onto the poles. all ive done is tie them onto the fly via the existing tie ribons. its alot easier to unclip a clip rather than untie a knot especially with cold wet hands

      @@andynangiesmysteryboxes8588 ah gotcha meht!
      Surely though that is still pitching the tent as separate inner and outer? Seems like a better way of doing that, I often thought that clips would be a better idea than ties for attaching the outer to the poles.

    I don’t quite understand. I’ve just purchased this tent and when I opened it for the first time, the fly was already tied to the inner thru two small loops built into the fly top and bottom. I then just tied the poles thru and it erected all complete with no fuss at all.
    Have they recently been modded to include these two loops or have you guys had to tie the fly to the inner because these loops are missing on your inner?

    • @KernowCamps
      @KernowCamps  Год назад

      Hey bud!
      Congrats on the purchase, I hope the Phoxx serves you really well.
      I wasn’t aware of a design change to the Phoxx II v2 although I know OEX have recently released revisions of older models in their range and a few new additions have been made.
      This is the first I have heard of a design modification to the Phoxx series though, and if what you’re saying is true, then I think it’s an exciting change that adds value and utility to an already very solid design!

  • @rufusduck71

    This mod seems like it has more down sides than up .
    If your fly is wet wrapping your inner tent round it is gonna make it very wet for the second night .
    Also your only saving 45 seconds of tying 4 shoelace knots on the poles .
    Maybe a better mod would be to extend the inner tent pegging points so they marry up with the outer fly pegging points so you can ditch 4 pegs overall and it will be faster to pitch.
    Just a thought

    • @KernowCamps
      @KernowCamps  Год назад

      You make some good points Stuart.
      As I mention in the video, this mod is not for everyone. It’s one I won’t be using myself since, as I say, I only use my Phoxx in really bad weather and this mod would cause more of a hassle to dry the tent after use. However, I see a lot of people on various groups on Facebook criticising OEX for not making this in all in one pitch tent as standard. This video is for those people, who want the option.
      I love your idea for the peg out points. I think I will explore that idea, and if it works out I’ll make another video. Thanks for that inspiration buddy, and of course, thank you for watch and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate that meht. 😁

      @@KernowCamps no worries .
      I really like my phoxx 1 and it's the only inner pitch tent I own (of 12 )
      But that can be an advantage in that its very easy to take the fly off and dry it in the morning away from the inner .or get it out your bag at mid day for a lunch Time dry when the sun comes out .if your in a rush you could almost hang it from your rucksac while you walk .it's that small .
