Since uploading this episode it has been bought to my attention that the newer models of The Banshee do have 2 doors - I forgot to mention that mine is quite an old model. Hope you still enjoy this comparison video, though!

The vango was probably cooler because it was in the shade whereas the phoxx2 was in full sun.
The putting away time wins it for me though.

After watching this I really appreciate the upgrades of the banshee pro 200. 2 loops for a lamp, two doors one either side as you said, a zip up access port for muddy boots that also has mesh for extra air flow. If needed. I think it's a little longer actually but can't be certain.

I did look at the Vango Banshee, especially due to the weight but ended up with an even less weight tent in the end. After watching the whole video, I think if price is a major factor I would go with the OEX, if not it would defiantly be the Vango for me. Good review, cheers Alan

My ownly issue with the Banshee Pro 200 is the length. I'm 6 foot and stretched out I find my face is right up against the inner. Basically, either the tent needs to be longer or the high point needs to be moved nearer the end.

Good patient review Trev, I believe the banshee 200 and 300 models from 2014 had the upgrade of 2 doors which made it a better buy entirely, although the groundsheet in it always felt flimsy thin in my 2016 cactus model👍

Iove my Banshee 200... With 2 doors may I add!
Used it in Devon a couple of years ago and it fit me, my missus and a small dog.... Was a bit tight but it did the trick easily.
I have since upgraded for when my missus and dog come with me to Vango Halo 300 and its much roomier for us three.
But when I go solo camping.. Which will be tomorrow.... I will always take me Banshee 200. Fantastic tent. Not too heavy and bomb-proof.. Not to mention I trust it in any weather!
Great video Trev... Keep em coming!

Interesting comparison video. I've been looking at the Vango and wondered how it compared to the phoxx 2 that I already own. I think the main reason why the oex felt so hot was because it was sat in direct light whereas the vango was put up in the shade.
I am a bit put off by how tight the vango is, we have no problems with fitting two in the oex but wouldn't want it any smaller.

Just bought the Phoxx 2 V2 simply because it's a little larger than the Banshee 200...Not too bothered if it takes a minute longer to put up or take down, and with the paracord mod/hack mentioned elsewhere on RUclips, the flysheet can be left attached to the inner anyway...

great vid trev . i would choose the vango everyday .but that said it does come with its problems . guylines are a bit of a pain .very low .heavy ?pain to put up .i prefer an inner first tent .personal choice ? i think after alot of practice they go up quicker ? i also find pole clips are better than pole sleeves makes life a little easier and quicker (hillebergs use pole clips ) i do prefer to put my tents in a compression drybag (exped ) this helps with the bulkyness in your rucksack .i also find that changing the pegs for a bright colour helps esp in the winter against the snow .ive changed my to red pegs and ive not lost a peg yet i would also like to put the vango up against a hilleberg akto in a performance test just to see if its worth buying a more expensive tent . atb kev

The phoxx 2 has a inside pocket located at the larger end of the tent where your head would lay and as the how long it take to put up it looks like you have put that banshee up slot more times than the phoxx 2, the phoxx still had tags and looked like it hadn't been used but the banshee looked very used so your obviously going to be able to put it up faster there is a also a massive price difference the banshee is around £60 more

A nice comparison video and new feature, however you must have a very early model Vango Banshee 200 as for the past few years or so they have made improvements by having two doors and plus an improved tension band system for extra stability. it is still very easy to put up and take down though.

I was interested you considered packing the inner and outer together a gain on the Vango. I saw this as being of limited value. In a one night camp it is clearly a gain. However on my very few bike camping trips I leave early in the morning (elixier 2 tent) and the fly is covered in condensation inside and iut. If you packed it up with the fly like the Vango all that inside wet would be on the inner and not good in my opinion, hence I see packing the inner separately so it does not get wet that way seems an advantage. I can see outer up first, and inner down first as a gain. But packing together seems a limited gain. I would be interested what you think.

    • @SummitOrNothing
      @SummitOrNothing  4 года назад

That may be a valid pont, to be honest - I have only ever taken it for the one night as of yet - and usually hang it out to dry together when I get home so not had this issue... but yeah, you could have point there. Thanks for the feedback!

Got a Vango Nevis 200 myself and it has 2 doors a lantern loop and it weighs less than the Banshee 200. About the only thing that i would improve with it would be dual zips on the door to the inner and better ventilation as it can get condensation but again may be me Vaping in it more than anything else. About the same room although it did fit me and my Kid (Ten at the time) with the gear in the vestibule on a North/South Dartmoor trip and that was tight i can't see two adults fitting in them.

Bought one of these Vango Banshee 200s a number of years ago but never got around to using it other than one trial run at my parents' home. Anyway, took it out into the back garden for a spin yesterday and was mortified to discover I couldn't remember how to put it up, this in front of curious neighbours ever eager to take the piss. On first viewing looks like the mistake I made was pegging in the groundsheet first but is the method I've used with every previous tent I've owned so maybe I might be forgiven for forgetting? Anyway, I'm sure this video will help. Thanks.

Thanks Trev, was thinking of going to Dartmoor in September, so got time to get one.
Do you ever meet up with any of your followers on RUclips for a wild camp?

I'm surprised by all the love for the banshee.
That looked so cramped for 2 people .
I would go with the oex based on that alone

Every video I watch says the vango weighs 2.4, 2.2, 2.3 and now 2kg lol 😂 I'd have it at any of those weights though great all rounder.

I dont tie the outer waste of time it stays put pegged out ,, i had 3 packs of full frame dslrs and lenses + lighting and big tripod , 70 litre pack .. the vestibules are good on the phoxx 2 mk2 taking the OEX down take out the poles and roll both inner and outer up together saves time , none of that messing about your doing

Banshee better bag, better weight. Pitching as one. The OEX you’re getting the bedroom wet when raining ☔️ not ideal.

No midge netting doors on the vango tents named after the highlands ! ! ! Would drive anyone mad especially orange for days during a storm or midge infestation , the phoxx 2v11 has tons of netting and WILL stop you going totally insane after days stuck in , you can at least see outside the tent , i would have the phoxx over any of the new vango's theres no tent under £250 with as much thought to being inside the tent as the oex ,
