I totally forgot to record my final verdict. So here it is. I thought for what I paid for the tent the quality was phenomenal. Small, light weight cheap and cheerful. The only big draw backs were that I couldn’t sit up in it and when you set it up you need to be under a tarp if it’s raining. Otherwise you will be getting wet.
@jamieoutdoors Phoxx 2 has more room as a 2man more room for kit and stretching out ... I do have other tents ... also a Lavu which has been blinded up for hot tenting ... love anything outdoors 😎
It's a great stealthy tent, but simply too small for anything more than a weekend! I took mine bikepacking for 5 days through some remote parts of Wales. After a few days I was sick of not being able to sit up inside, you literally can't do anything but lie down. Getting undressed and dressed is a real chore, space inside in minmal! On the plus side, it's super stealthy, warm, dry, fantastically stable in high winds, zero condensation, and the two vestibules are quite generous for such a small tent! I'm off to Wales again in September on the bike for a week. This time I'm taking the Phoxx 2, for an extra 400gms, the extra space is extremely welcome! These tents are brilliant, even when compared to tents costing 5x as much!
Amazing! I had that tent back in the 2000s, bought for £20 off eBay, poor as I was, did some great adventures in it. Thanks for flagging it! Not being able to sit up got old though.
Not being able to sit up inside is an issue I agree. But it’s so diddy. I don’t think using this tent with my massive blow up mat is the right idea. I think I need to bring a thinner sleeping pad.
I had the Phoxx 2 for around 4 years. Used it in all conditons with others using the stupidly expensive Hillebergs and such like tents. High winds lots of rain my was still there in the morning and still dry. Good ventilation when manky lots of room inside. Perfect 😎😎😎
Great spot that! 👍🏻 Also more room than you think there, I managed to ‘just’ squeeze my 2-man Vango Nexus in that exact same spot, and that’s a proper sized two man tent with a vestibule either side… Awful tiny tent that thing, I don’t blame you for giving it away! 😄
Good sturdy little tent.. trouble fitting all your kit in it , is a problem... not sitting up in it , is a problem. Not being able to cook in it , if the weather is too harsh, is a problem... Take care out there.
Agree on all of the above. But, the only thing I couldn’t do is sit up in this tent. Not the end of the world. But you quickly realise how much you miss it 😅
