I love how meticulously and calmly he folds his jacket, placed the towel in the ground to protect his pants from the floor, purged his body of (most of) the poison, and then cleans himself up and returns to his battlefield after he layed waste to it, to lord over his enemies in their moment of absolute defeat.
Gustavo sitting in silence completely motionless to lower his heart rate and prevent the poison from rapidly spreading through his system. When he stands up he speaks softly and moves very slowly. It's a small detail but a cogent one. Very well written show.

No? Gus goes to kill Hector just before the nursing home bombing takes out the two of them along with Tyrus. They make it very clear Gus had a quick and reliable method to eliminate the Salamancas, in this case with the syringe filled with whatever that would have killed him, but the whole point is to highlight how Gus was keeping Hector alive past the point of self-preservation because he was too focused on exacting things his way. Giving Hector a swift exit wasn’t personally satisfying enough for him to do, even though it would have meant that he took out his greatest enemy and Hector wouldn’t have been liability anymore who could have and did conspire with Walt to kill Gus. If you’ve just watched the show or are currently watching it for the first time then I’m not trying to give you too much hell for not getting it, but it’s weird to see people in agreement with your comment, unless they also didn’t really watch the show all the way through or paid attention. The series is pretty consistent about showing where big characters have outs, buyouts, ex-partners offering to pay for cancer treatments/better job offer, Gus having the option to work with Gale’s with and not Walter’s from the beginning to keep things predictable, it’s all there and part of the greatness of the show to highlight how these characters aren’t always in a be-all end-all situation, they have moments where they can either tap out from their life of crime or have things be resolved at a compromise to what they were originally after, and not taking those chances represents most of their regretful fates.
Not for one deadman but others who died may have been good friends, also there’s a gang mentality, someone upstages the group your in and possibly losing status and security. Gang members will retaliate out if need to even the score, it’s why gang killings never die down because there is someone who wants retribution or know if they don’t show retribution may themsrlves become a victim of the gang member’s friends etc who wonder why you did nothing and worse think you allowed the incident to happen. The reasons to retaliate are there but they are petty which is why retribution acts are seen as petty.

Somehow, the fact that he stumbles makes him feel stronger cause he didn’t just gag out all the poison, there was a still a bit left and he took it like a champ
this show had the best characters I've ever seen. stage business was accurate all the way to the one guy in the back walking down the street, ironies were very realistic, and the nuanced people just hits the nail on the head
It took me a long time to pick up on it, but Eladio planned to off Gus at some point during this visit. He now had Jesse in hand to do the cooking in Mexico, and the Salamancas in tow to do the distribution in the Southwest and elsewhere. That long deliberation about letting Gus out of sight to use the restroom says it all. Gus and Mike were in the trap and Eladio wasn't letting them slip out. However much Eladio appreciated the good aspects of what Gus could do for him, the "business is business" line foreshadowed what was coming if Gus hadn't struck first.
'Look, every 20 years, you forget your place'. Gus was reminded of what happened to his friend 20 years before (as if he needed reminding). I think this was the confirmation that Gus, was doing the right thing.
One of those scenes you do not forget. Another of many reminders on why this is such a great show. Giancarlo is so good as Gustavo. This show was so well cast and then the writers gave them scenes, mannerisms and dialogue to make them shine.

The chicken man's only mistake was keeping Hector alive, which led to the sound of the bell.
He couldn’t kill him where he was because there were too many witnesses and video cameras plus he felt confident he would die of old age
He also kept Walter alive and underestimated him
His biggest mistake was bringing jesse to the nursing home to taunt hector, thus revealing his true weakness: his lust for revenge
