Two things about this episode. The scene in the Mental Facility is a reference to "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" a 1989 film which a young Danny Devito acted in. Not only that the actor for Chief is the nephew of the actor that played Chief in the film. The scene is a hilarious retake of events in the film. The second thing is you have to remember Charlie cannot read. Who knows what the mail actually said.
The timing of this insurance episode with the CEO Killer happening... 😂 Erica: "back then, how much was that?" It's minimum wage. Still the same. Federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. Can vary by state. Tons of opposition to raising it, hence the lack of raising since it became law.
This theory has been debunked by the showrunners during a podcast (though not by the writer of the joke, who maybe could have had this intention but never told anyone), but it's too good not to share. Many people interpreted Charlie's whole Pepe Sylvia and Carol from HR nonsense as just him being dyslexic and not being able to read "Pennsylvania, Care of HR" on the letterhead.
Minimum wage in America has barely gone up since this episode came out lol. On the bright side they probably figured out all of those healthcare issues everyone was worried about.
This is a bit ludicrous as well, hospitals don't just throw you out, UNTIL AFTER they have negated the heart attack and the individual is ok to walk out, this applies to any medical emergency where your life is in danger. For anything else just get insurance.
How many times do the makers need to debunk this theory before people stop parroting it. Also it makes no sense State names are always abbreviations and not spelled out. And it completely spoils Mac's punchline that all these people exist and are asking for their mails.
Yeah, this is where you lost me. So, you don’t produce anything. It’s not like you made the show the arrogance of reactors who never did anything and then there’s some type of wait and or some bullshit Patreon? Making money on a watching and reacting to TV shows and movies is worse than selling illegal DVD’s in the late 90’s. You guys are funny but and mean, I can watch the show for free. Why the hell would I pay you guys to watch the show reactor to get that big dick mentality like we’re too cool you haven’t done shit now you guys specifically… but I’ve also watched every episode for free. I’m not gonna pay you guys to watch a show that I’ve already watched. I don’t know. I don’t get it. This channel was cool till (thank you Apple for the terrible voice to text…)
Patreon is for people who want to support us. And if you don’t want to, that’s cool -there’s no obligation to. There never was. .. and we’ve had this going for a while, so I’m not sure why this episode is the one that triggered the response. But regardless - no one’s forcing you to watch reaction videos. But there’s obviously a market for it so it’s providing value to someone. Just not you. So do what makes the most sense for you. No harm, no foul.
A potion of this episode and the ending, Frank in the psych ward, is a nod to his role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
"Download me a hoagie off the internet." 🤣

*1975
I always figured Pepe Sylvia was Pennsylvania. Not sure about Carol in HR
@@henlo1910 that was the leading theory but the writers said it wasn't pennsylvania
Thank you!!
its so fun watching ppl when they get to this episode and they start realizing That meme comes from this
The amount of people that have not seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest saddens me, it's 1 of my top 5 favorite movies of all time.
I only just got around to actually watching it a month ago
"The secret to my success", reaction worthy
Frank's story line is from "One flew over the cuckoo's nest" where he played a part.
Dees reaction to Dennis face is incredibleee.
For reference, min wage in PA is 7.65 and has been for 20 years, so Mac and Charlie get three dollars, and some change an hour each
😬 yikes
The timing of this insurance episode with the CEO Killer happening... 😂
Erica: "back then, how much was that?"

😭😭😅
I'm guessing you guys haven't seen One Flys Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Frank's storyline is based on that movie which Danny Devito starred in.
I’ve seen it a looooooong time ago. Obviously so long ago that this reference went over my head 😅 Thanks for the tidbit!

😂😂
Great timing with the US Healthcare current events💀
The Manager Who Hired Mac and Charlie, He'll Be Back 😂
👀👀
7:00 ferris buellers day off
They did it impressively well 😂
Minimum wage in America has barely gone up since this episode came out lol. On the bright side they probably figured out all of those healthcare issues everyone was worried about.
Federally got raised to 7.25 in 2009 and that was the last one lol.
The man that can’t read, handing mail LOL
Haha recipe for comedy gold.
The Frank stuff is a parody of One Flew Over the Cookoos Nest and the Charlie hallucinating that guy scene is a parody of A Beautiful Mind (spoilers)
I guess you've never seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
I always forget that the waiter started off in this episode.
Let’s goooo!
CAROL!!! CAROL!!!
Classic
DAY BOW BOW
😂😂😂
Legendary meme

I love how his illiteracy makes him read Pennsylvania on all mail as Pepe Silvia 🤣
@TaterTottCrispyAndHot Already been debunked in the podcast.
Nice theory. Not what happened though

One funny fan theory is that since Charlie is illiterate he thinks ‘Philadelphia’ are letters written to Pepe Silvia.
That’s hilarious 😂
I think it is Pennsylvania. He is at least familiar with Philadelphia considering he believes it is the only city in the state.
The gang said this wasn't the case in the podcast. I wish it was though 😂
Not realistic ER depiction, to be fair. They’d treat her, bill her, and she’d never pay.
Then they send it to a debt collector.
True this. I always just figured she didn't need to be there.
That part was the threat
It is a comedy.
How about jumping out of order and watching the "A Very Sunny Christmas" episode for Christmas?
they seem dry (not in a good way) and unaware…stop reviewing sunny’s
