Hi Chris...Just want to say thanks for all these very informative videos. If I lived in the UK, I would certainly see you for my piano needs. Great job!
So I really wanna buy a dgx - 600, but the only draw back for me is the fact that the chord tracker app and the yamaha wireless adapter are exclusive to ios. I only use android phones. When will they release a android compatible chord tracker app and adapter? then I would buy one immediately.
Nice job guys. I was planning on buying the DGX 650 but now that the newer one is out with the upgraded piano sound. The polyphony increase to 192 is much welcomed as well, but ill have to go test them out again at a piano store to see the true difference. In sure the DGX 660 will sound cleaner and truer when recording pieces than the 650 slightly. Keep up the good work!
The DGX-670 should have optionally lighted keys as to let this be a "once in a lifetime piano" and for the entire family. Hopefully Yamaha catches that music lover family want an advanced level product friendly to child beginners or non-musically inclined houseguests.
You got to go to the store and try it by yourself, to my surprise keys on 660 had better feel than 650. I prefer P255 over both of these two in terms of Tone, keys size and looks but I end up buying dgx 660 since my 5 year old boy has chosen that because of an additional features on 660. I am very happy it delivers Yahmaha Quality. Thanks you ePianos for all your informations. Happy Playing all.
Likely support. Just like Yamaha will not help the second they find out your using a jail broken iPad/phone.... Its more a perc, less a selling point. Its not even in the manual. Yamaha wants you to go to their website.
physics. android is inherently slower to respond. Unfortunately, iOS has always been way ahead of Android in terms of audio latency. Even iOS devices as old as the iPhone 4S (and much older) have average latency levels of about 7 ms. That's fifty times less than the average latency for Android devices in 2011. www.androidpolice.com/2015/11/13/android-audio-latency-in-depth-its-getting-better-especially-with-the-nexus-5x-and-6p/
i purchased the 650 in 2013 and was very disappointed to find it didnt have mic input. my 100 dollar keyboard had one but not my 1000 dollar one. glad they finally added it
Thanks Chris for demo video of Yamaha DGX-660. This is going to makeup my mind for DGX-660 instead of Casio MZ-X500 Arranger Keyboard. I am buying now online by epianos.co.uk. I hope I am taking the right decision.
Thanks for the video really really helpful but I kept waiting for you to talk about the touch of the keyboard.!!!!.Is it any better than what it it on 650 ??? or is it the same ??
After you have suppressed the voice on your usb as you mentioned in your video , lets say with an Adel song, can you change the "key" so you can sing it in the "key" you're comfortable with ?
How can the DGX 660 connect to external amp and speakers? How can you record and layer individual instrument tracks when composing and then save onto USB stick
I was previously going to get the P115 but after seeing more videos on the DGX 660 and seeing how it has so many features, I decided to go for the DGX 660 since it only costs about $100 more and has more stuff.
I have Casio workstation which can record .mp3 when moved to PC, and has aux and mic inputs, missing from 650. This 660 appears to be response, though does not have drawbar organ feature which isn't used much.
Hi: In the manual book it´s all very well explained. to record it´s very easy, a bit more complicated can be how to record it to the memory USB and from that to the computer but once you make it once it will be just like a joke. All you have to do is to read the manual on that specific point and it will take you less than 5 minutes to start recording your own songs!!! Cheers!
I have a dgx640 and starting to act up. My mother house cleaner set Christmas wreath and a bunch of needles went down into plus coffee. Looking to upgrade. Does the 660 have the same as the 640
when do you think the DGX 670 will come out? We are almost into the middle of 2018 and the dgx 660 was released in feb 2015? any ideas? is it worth the wait? thanks!
could dgx 650 do independent muted style for the accompaniment? so i only get the drum track, bass and piano off course. need your explanation, please...
I bought a p-125 over the 660 due to the better feeling keys and slightly crisper sound... The DGX seems like more fun, p125 more substance. Only feature I'm really missing with the p125 is microphone... and as we all know its illegal to sing while playing a yamaha keyboard that doesn't have a microphone hookup
Amazing video. Can't believe no one has asked before now, but who is the female singer with the sick voice? Hope, hope, hope she has more videos of her singing out. Love her tone. Please share her name. And again, thanks for taking the time to make this video. It helps so much!
Do you know, is the key weighting on the 660 the same / as good as the P125? I compared the two in a music store recently, and while the 660 clearly offers much more, I was having trouble discerning if the feel of the keyboards themselves were different. Do you know if they're using the same approach / same mechanisms to weight the keys? I know both use that graduated hammer system, right? So, the 660 should have the same claim to being a weighted keyboard, right?
Excellent review on the Chord Tracker. I have the 650 and probably going to bite the bullet and order a 660. The wireless connectivity and apps are another big reason along with the mic input. Right now, if you order the 660, you get the microphone from Yamaha as a bonus incentive. Awesome.
All Yamaha apps work very well on the DGX 650. I did not try it wirelessly, but it works very well when you connect the DGX 650 to an iPad with Apple Camera Connection Kit and an IUSB printer cable.
I can´t find the melody supression that you mentioned...I bought this piano only for this option..I'am looking in the manual but I just cant find this option...please someone help me?
DGX-650 is apparently not officially compatible with the cord tracker app but has anybody tried it with their dgx-650? I read somewhere that some pianos which are not on the list actually supports the app.
Hi, I have got the DGX 650 and the ChordTracker app works flawlessly. You'll need the Apple Camera Connection Kit and an USB printer cable to connect the DGX to your iPad. Regards.
Good day, I understand this is a bit stupid to ask. But may you guys please do some kind of comparison between Yamaha DGX-660 and Yamaha Arius 143 - 163? I know these two are worlds apart in terms of function, But I just want to know the difference between them in terms of specs (Keyboard, Speakers, and so on). Also, The fact that I am a pure beginner doesn't help, For I do not know if more engaging would be much suited for me or Just remain classical is better. (Also I live in a country where these things are hard to come by so suggesting me to visit a store and see for myself is out of the question) Thank you in advance!
Nice video. Got 2 questions: 1) Can I take the midi file with the six recorded tracks down onto the USB? It always just talks about audio where I have read about it. 2) How do I register the singing? First six parts/layers/tracks (if needing all 6) onboard, then play those back and sing while registering everything audio onto the USB?
Can you please tell me if the chord tracker and the tutorial chord pictures etc. can work with any of the organ sounds as well or is it JUST for piano. I really have no intention of playing piano on this, I love the organ sounds but need to know if all these features will work with the organ on here. Thank you.
Suvodip Chakrabarty agree. P115 keys feel heavier like real piano. Also the low end of 115 sounded better even from same sample. But 115.. really only does piano.
Can you tell me the numberof insttuments sound (accoustic) in 650 and in the 660.. I want to know wheather this are there.. 1. Accordian(paris or italian) 2. Spanish guitar 3. Clarinet (swing banny goonan) 4.jas sazophone alto and tenor.. 5. Voilin givpisy and classic.. 6. Celo... 7. Double bass jazz piano aacompaniment..
It is like comparing a Mini Morris with a Bentley. Both instruments are digital pianos but the CVP is 5 times the price of the DGX, and it also has 5 times its possibilities. The DGX is good for families and people learning the piano. The CVP is meant for people who already can play quite well and need hugh quality sounds and sophisticated arranging capabilities under their fingers. It is basically a Tyros 4 in a piano cabinet, with a color touchscreen on top. Not quite the same instruments. If you just want to learn to play and have some fun on top, buy the DGX, you'll be very happy with it. Also the DGX is much easier to mive around the house. Regards.
That sucks. I have DGX-650 and though to sell mine and get the new one because of new option most importantly MIC input, but paying more for the feature i could not use makes me double think.
Hey :D I am a beginner and i now have to decide between 650 and 660. I think the sound and the special thing with my own music is better on the 660 but in the other hand it costs a lot more and also i wont sing with it. what wouuld you say is better ? :D Greats from Germany :)
The only reason to buy the DGX 660 would be if you are a singer and you want to accompany yourself, or if you want to accompany another singer. Then the mike plug would come very handy. Otherwise the DGX 650 is just as good.
Hello! Thank you so much. A couple of question 1. Do I have to be using music from the iTunes app or can it be other music services such as Spotify ? 2. Can I connect it to garage band?
1. Yes just from iTunes currently. But you can work around this if you transfer your music using a PC or mac. 2. Yes but not wirelessly, you'll need to use the jack output and a convertor. Not expensive.
Hey, another great video. I'm going to start playing piano soon again after a 5 year break. Now the problem is that I can't decide between 2 piano's, the DGX 660 or the ARIUS YDP 163. I know the YDP 163 has the GH3 keyboard action and the GDX 660 has GHS. I'm not going to take any lessons soon so should I buy the YDP 163 just for the GH3 or can I buy the GDX 660 since I'm just going to play it in my free time? Thanks in advance.
Hey Lawrence, Great to hear you're going to start playing again! I wish you the best of luck with it. You are correct! The YDP-163 does have a GH3 key grading while the DGX-660 has the GH grading action. The DGX660, however, has a range of rhythms, accompaniments and voices to experiment with (151 voices to be precise!) and has a 5 track recording and a lesson feature too. However, if you arent bothered about all of the fancy bits then I would suggest the YDP-163 as it is a quality instrument that looks great! Any questions please do not hesitate to ask, Thanks, Isaac
+ePianos.co.uk Hey, thanks for answering so fast! One final question, how many years could I play on the YDP 163 before moving on to a more advanced piano, and which model would you recommend then?
It really does depend on how much practice you put in and how fast you progress. The range I would recommend is the CLP range. I would suggest (if you can) to buy an electric piano with wooden keys as this will offer a much more realistic experience to that of these keyboards. Check out the CLP-545 here: www.epianos.co.uk/yamaha-clavinova-clp545b-in-black-walnut-with-free-uk-delivery-370-p.asp However, you should browse the whole CLP range to get an idea of how the models differ: www.epianos.co.uk/clp-clavinova-16-c.asp Thanks, Isaac
I'm sorry but both models have the same initial error, there is no way to play with the different bass on chords called "finger on bass mode". And that's the key deficiency of both keyboards. The engineers did not boast that the newer model dgx 660 would also be played by professionals. So the 660 has the same drawbacks as the older model...
Hi Chris...Just want to say thanks for all these very informative videos. If I lived in the UK, I would certainly see you for my piano needs. Great job!
Fantastic explanations. Sure helps me figure out the all options.
Thanks Darren. Glad to help.
I just bought dgx 660.
its realy fantastic instrument.
I use Yamaha tyros 4 + DGX 660 this combination is realy fabulous.
Sounds great.
You are truly blessed. More blessings on your life
So I really wanna buy a dgx - 600, but the only draw back for me is the fact that the chord tracker app and the yamaha wireless adapter are exclusive to ios. I only use android phones. When will they release a android compatible chord tracker app and adapter? then I would buy one immediately.
There are many asks for a comparison between DGX-660 and P-515. Please do consider adding your comments on the feel of GHS between both.
I appreciate these comparisons. Thanks for the amount of detail and work you put into these videos!
Chris! in 6 years you have matured so much!!!
I've certainly grown more grey hairs. You can blame my kids for that.
Thank you so much for making these comparison videos, making it easier for me to choose the best piano that suits my needs.
The DGX-670 should have optionally lighted keys as to let this be a "once in a lifetime piano" and for the entire family. Hopefully Yamaha catches that music lover family want an advanced level product friendly to child beginners or non-musically inclined houseguests.
Hello my friend, Yamaha dgx 670 is here
The review was detailed and very well done. I was going to buy a YPg 535 today, however, your review has changed my choice to a DGX 660. Thank you.
You got to go to the store and try it by yourself, to my surprise keys on 660 had better feel than 650. Why yamaha apps for ios only.. no android?
@Emute Butkute Other manufacturers, same thing.

OK, lets buy a 660 tomorrow: )
Could you do a comparison of the Yamaha P255 and the DGX 650 (or 660)? It would help alot
Yes, please!
That's what I was thinking - I'm debating on which one to buy.
Yeah please P225 vs DGX660
i purchased the 650 in 2013 and was very disappointed to find it didnt have mic input. my 100 dollar keyboard had one but not my 1000 dollar one. glad they finally added it

How can you record and layer individual instrument tracks when composing and then save onto USB stick
It would be nice to add option to export the chords as MIDI :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good comparison
Hello from Macedonia, I would like to know what is better, DGX660 or Korg Havian 30? Thanks, Erhan

Looking to upgrade.
Does the 660 have the same as the 640

Amazing video. Can't believe no one has asked before now, but who is the female singer with the sick voice? Hope, hope, hope she has more videos of her singing out. Love her tone. Please share her name. And again, thanks for taking the time to make this video. It helps so much!
Yes she was also an attractive bird
www.digitalpianoreviewguide.com/yamaha-dgx-660-vs-yamaha-p-115-what-should-you-buy/ apparently her name is sarah :D
When will the company come up with the dgx670 ??

Can we plug in our iOS device instead of buying the wireless adapter?
no
Thank you
Thank you so much for this video, can you make video on how to make track using dgx660 i will appreciate if its possible
I can´t find the melody supression that you mentioned...I bought this piano only for this option..I'am looking in the manual but I just cant find this option...please someone help me?
The melody suppressor is featured on the app called 'Chord Finder' not on the keyboard itself.
DGX-650 is apparently not officially compatible with the cord tracker app but has anybody tried it with their dgx-650? I read somewhere that some pianos which are not on the list actually supports the app.

Hi, I am sorry I missed your reply. Thank you!
Do you know a place where the 650 is on stock on the U.S. and how much it's worth?
does It have a modulation wheel, is there any alternative?
will yamaha make their apps compatible with android? can the piano be plugged into a PC or does it have to be mac??
Would you consider the 660 to be the best-featured portable digital piano available from Yamaha?
Good day, I understand this is a bit stupid to ask. But may you guys please do some kind of comparison between Yamaha DGX-660 and Yamaha Arius 143 - 163?

Does it also add the harmonies to the vocals
Nice video. Got 2 questions:
1) Can I take the midi file with the six recorded tracks down onto the USB? It always just talks about audio where I have read about it.
2) How do I register the singing? First six parts/layers/tracks (if needing all 6) onboard, then play those back and sing while registering everything audio onto the USB?
1) Yes, but you'd have to transfer them one-by-one.
2) To record singing you have to do it directly onto the USB stick where a .wav will be created
How much DGX 660 was cost ?
Would been cool if you compared he piano sound in detail
Can you please tell me if the chord tracker and the tutorial chord pictures etc. can work with any of the organ sounds as well or is it JUST for piano. I really have no intention of playing piano on this, I love the organ sounds but need to know if all these features will work with the organ on here. Thank you.
Yes Chord Tracker will work regardless of your voice chosen.
I felt keys of P 115 heavier than dgx 660. 115 feels More like Clavinova .
Suvodip Chakrabarty agree. P115 keys feel heavier like real piano. Also the low end of 115 sounded better even from same sample. But 115.. really only does piano.
Can I transpose??? On chord tracker
In order to get in my best key?
You are a very good presenter,
Thank You So Much
helo, could you do a video on how to record on dgx 660?
does the 660 have also a Vocal Harmonizer?
Will the company make the Yamaha dgx 670 ?
Should I get DGX-660 now, or better wait?
How can I get the wireless device plugged to the keyboard? Where can I order it from
www.epianos.co.uk/shop/yamaha-udwl01-usb-wireless-lan-adaptor/
which one should i get?? Yamaha DGX 530 or DGX 660
Can you tell me the numberof insttuments sound (accoustic) in 650 and in the 660..
I want to know wheather this are there..
1. Accordian(paris or italian)
2. Spanish guitar
3. Clarinet (swing banny goonan)
4.jas sazophone alto and tenor..
5. Voilin givpisy and classic..
6. Celo...
7. Double bass jazz piano aacompaniment..
Please compare P115 to FP30...
What is the difference between the DGX 660 and the Yamaha clarinova 709????? Thank you
It is like comparing a Mini Morris with a Bentley. So this wireless thing applies only to ios devices right? if I have an adroid or a windows phone or pad I can't use it.Correct?
Yes, just ios for now.
If I already have a PA, mixer, and microphone AND a band I play with AND want to save Money, should I just get the 50?
If you already playing in a band, I would just get a Korg D1 to simplify things. It offers good output connectivity for MIDI and sound.
Looks Great! But do they have long piano samples having long and natural decay of piano sound just like an Acoustic Concert Grand Piano?
that apps only for apple or can be in android too?
Apple only I'm afraid.
That sucks. I have DGX-650 and though to sell mine and get the new one because of new option most importantly MIC input, but paying more for the feature i could not use makes me double think.
Are the apps available on android?
no
how many recordings can you layer?
6
Do you ship to Nigeria?
We can ship to any UK port for free. You are free to arrange delivery from that point and don't have to pay UK VAT. Contact us for further details.
How much time do you think it will take Yamaha to come up with DGX 670?:)
They'll come out with it as soon as you buy a 660 lol
What is that beautiful keyboard behind you and how much does it cost?
Yamaha Tyros 5. Now superseded by Yamaha Genos.
Hey :D
I am a beginner and i now have to decide between 650 and 660.
I think the sound and the special thing with my own music is better on the 660 but in the other hand it costs a lot more and also i wont sing with it.
what wouuld you say is better ? :D
Greats from Germany :)
DGX650 is no longer made, DGX660 is it's replacement.
ePianos.co.uk yeah i Know but you can still buy it :D
Can i hear a big difference in the Sound?
You should buy the 660, the 650 costs exactly the same for an older model
so with 200 dollars between the two models, which one would you buy, today?
650... 200 dollars is a big diference...maybe if the other piano were and arius series..
The only reason to buy the DGX 660 would be if you are a singer and you want to accompany yourself, or if you want to accompany another singer. Then the mike plug would come very handy. Otherwise the DGX 650 is just as good.
I would pay happy 200 dollars for much better piano functions and for the mic and for 30% more in polyphony only these 3 are worth it i guess.
My next purchase
Hello! Thank you so much. A couple of question
Wow thats a Huge gap between those two pianos, just to think about makes me wanna trade mine for the newer version hehe
Hey, another great video. I'm going to start playing piano soon again after a 5 year break. Now the problem is that I can't decide between 2 piano's, the DGX 660 or the ARIUS YDP 163. However, you should browse the whole CLP range to get an idea of how the models differ:

i have the dgx 640
In sweden its an extra 100 punds for the 660...for a microphone feature most wont use and an app...not worth it at all
what about improved polyphony?
if polyphony is such a big deal one is better off buying another piano, but not for the microphone/app pointless features
Is the sound quality of dgx660 is better than the dgx650?
Yes it is. Not by a huge amount but the increase to 192 note polyphony (from 128 on DGX650) definitely makes it a more sensitive piano.
+ePianos.co.uk Alright, thanks :)
It is NOT the answer about SOUND QUALITY.
It's the best keyboard I've ever heard in my life.
I sell my DGX 650 for 500€ like brand new, just to buy the 660
ThE only main difference between both keyboard os thE PRICE and some details
For live play it's great.
For recording engineers it's a brick.
what you mean brick?
Too bad I hate iTunes.
sorry casio px 560 mbe

I'm sorry but both models have the same initial error, there is no way to play with the different bass on chords called "finger on bass mode". And that's the key deficiency of both keyboards. The engineers did not boast that the newer model dgx 660 would also be played by professionals. So the 660 has the same drawbacks as the older model...
