- This is easily the biggest project we've built in our workshop so far. We're super happy with the result and pretty proud of the final product. Let us know what you thought of the video in the comments below - we'd love to hear your ideas on what else could be built in to a dining table..! Thanks for watching. Ha, crazy! I hadn't seen this but we just made a picnic table with grills built into it! Nice job!
Thanks dude! Yours turned out awesome too! One for indoors, one for outdoors! 😁
Great work lads! Love how it turned out! The centre cooking plate is a brilliant addition 👌 having the centre section removable opens up a lot of use cases too. Fantastic project and video!
Thanks so much Joe! Glad you enjoyed the video
The sort of rustic look is amazing! I love this project
Thanks man!
Adding the strap back in was a really great touch! Great build!
We thought it fit in with the theme quite nicely! Cheers buddy
It looks great. Love the colour and that you used the metal straps on it.
Thanks John! We spent a long time trying to get the colour just right!
Nice workmanship again, lads! 👏
Thank you! 😁😁
Beautiful project and your video style is really entertaining
Thank you very much Frank
As always great job! I love the hot plate idea!
Thanks Doug!
Nice work fellas, really enjoyed the process. Table looks great 👍😃
Thanks buddy!
Awesome job guys! 😃👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Thanks Fred!
So glad I found this channel 😍😍
That's a great look and the hot plate is a really nice touch. Love the re-use of the metal end grain straps too👍😁 There isn't a great deal you could add to that really....maybe some narrow draws in the tables apron for cutlery stowage?? 🤔 I recently used two scaff boards on the stairs to get rid of two old flat pack bookcases and I did similar with the finish(light sand to leave the character). I left the straps in situ...really liked the look of them
When we were brainstorming for this project we did think about adding narrow drawers but ultimately we went with this idea instead. We love how these scaffold boards turned out aesthetically but at times they were a pain to work with! Thanks for the comment dude! 👍🏼
@@BrothersMake You did good guys! Thanks for the upload!!😁👍
excellent project and video,,, well done....
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼
Great build guys and I really enjoyed the video too, perfect balance between keeping things entertaining whilst also providing lots of really useful information - you can defiantly see why Matt is a teacher haha! There are a few things I was wondering whilst watching however:
- Is there any reason you didn’t create the cutout before gluing the top together? I just would have thought it’d be easier to do the cuts whilst everything is still in components and then you’d have a perfect fit without having to take into account blade thicknesses etc
- Does the doweller cut one or two dowels at once? Looks like a really good bit of kit that would definitely make glue ups easier and quicker!
- What was your thoughts behind making the extended indeed and outfeed on the thicknesser? I’ve got the exact same model and would love to know if it helps reduce snipe and if it’s possible to plane really thin veneers.
Thanks guys!
Thanks! We didn’t cut the section out prior to the glueup because some of the boards were heavily warped and we figured it would come out more accurate the way we did it, albeit a little trickier. The dowelled does indeed cut two holes at once - super handy tool! And we made the custom bed for the thicknesses primarily to reduce snipe and provide more support for longer boards. It doesn’t totally eliminate snipe on its own but if you add a couple of other tricks it pretty much does then (feed boards in at an angle, but each one up behind each other). We don’t have much experience in thicknessing super thin strips but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work!
u guys deserve a lot more exposure
Thank you! That means a lot - feel free to share this with your friends!
lovely! Thank you for sharing, enjoy your griddles :)
We will! Thanks!
Hi Guys. Great great vid fantastic table. I want to get the same finish effect of some scaffold boards, I am good with most of your finish technique such as wax etc. Sort of got lost on the first part. Wood dye versus wood stain could you explain a bit better the first procedure and also let me know what dye and stain you used. Much appreciated Thanks. Niall
I was looking at building one with a bbq in, but this make so much more sense, love the idea. Would you mind me asking the measurements for the hot plate?
This one was 70 x 23 cm
Great work.
Cool intro edit.
Cheers Andy!
Guys that looks excellent! I love everything about this table all the little details really finish it off 👍 👍 👍 Great video as always, Lift scene (Blues brothers?) 😁😁
It’s always the little details that make the biggest impact. Really enjoyed adding all the finishing touches. Thanks mate!
Yep sometimes it's hard to know if a project is finished or not, hungry now!
Great table! Is aluminium angle recommended to prevent heat from reaching the timber? Asking for a school project :)
This would be awesome in a van. Think if you turn this as a slide out in your van. Not the chairs
Very nice work. Replace your coke at dinner by a nice wine and it'll be much better :-)
Haha thanks 😅
I love the wood dye effect. What brand did you use? I am making something similar with a coffee table and drop in space for an obsidian slab to cook meats and veg. I am repurposing different wood boards for the table top (maple, cherry, walnut paduk) gluing together and finishing. I hope to find your dye to do that.
It was Dark Jacobean wood stain from B&Q I think!
the amount of Korean BBQ I’d eat by having this table LOL
Can you tell where I can buy long electrical grill like your please
What is the name of the cooking plate i cant find anything like that for my kitchen
great work chaps and not a negative comment however, how do you remove the fat catcher whilst using is?
We trimmed the drip tray so it still fits under the hot plate. Once it has cooled down you simply lift it out and slide the tray out for cleaning 👍🏼
10:47 How is the wooden part of the table not burn?
bonjour j'ai la même plancha mais quand vous allez cuire les aliments les éclaboussures de cuisson des aliments vont allez partout sur le rebord de la table .
Cool, but I'd just set a hot plate on top of a regular bench cause lazy.
First Like
and first comment it would seem!
Reality, you start searing your steak, grease splashes everywhere on your table and plates, you try to wipe it off, you burn yourself on the hot plate :D p.s. Great video
Haha, glad you liked it. But that’s never happened!
@brothersmake #hours.... oh dammit no hinges on this one 😡
😂😂 you’ll like our second project we’re doing for Triton! hinges galore 👍🏼😂
Brothers Make sounds like hours of fun. 👌🏻
