- In todays video we show you how we made a kitchen table from scaffold boards and box section metal. The scaffold boards were sanded and then treated with Danish Oil for extra protection. We also created a matching bench seat for the customer.
The legs we welded in the workshop but you could just as easy buy some legs online if you don’t fancy picking up the welder.
We think the table turned out great but let us know what you think in the comments box!
Tools we used:
Chisel
Sander
MIG Welder
Chop Saw

Thanks Greg! 😁
Lovely explanation to accompany the build !!?!?!!!
Glad you like it!
Hi mate great channel and great video, can you tell me what the background music is please thanks take care
thank you! Which part - ill check :)
Great video. How long would you clamp it for? And could you use dowels instead of biscuits? Or could you get away with using glue only, if you used another support underneath?
I would generally wait 24 hours but you can get some fast setting glues, Dowels will probably break as the wood will move so I would biscuits. And any extra supports will help with keeping the joints tight.
Hi mate! I’m planning to make one of these from old scaffold boards too. But, I need it wider than the structure of the metal legs. Is glue and biscuit joints enough to hold a full board (6ft) on a table?
Hi, We did biscuit and glue our table and it has held together very well, but you must make sure the boards are stored in a dry, damp free environment for a number of weeks beforehand, as they will shrink alot.
I am doing something quite similar. What is the need for the butterfly shapes you added and is there another way to achieve the same outcome (like wood underneath screwed in)?
The butterfly shapes are really there for decoration, you can just hold the boards together by gluing and screwing timber supports underneath.
What thickness are the boards, 39mm?
Think 38mm
Was this clear danish oil?
Thanks for the comment. It was actually Canadian Cedar Danish Oil we used. You can buy the exact one from B&Q www.diy.com/departments/colron-refined-canadian-cedar-danish-wood-oil-500ml/127886_BQ.prd Hope that helps 👍
Hello mate , do make this to order ?
hello! No unfortunately we don't. The hope was to inspire people to have a go at making their own. You should be able to source some scaffold boards cheaply from a builders merchant and then get a local fabrication shop to make the legs. I've also seen people selling the legs on websites like Etsy if you wanted to go that route. We would love to hear how you get on if you do make one. Send us a message if you need any help!
@@renovateinnovate thanks mate !! Keep up the good work 👍
Scaff boards warp like crazy
Yes they do normally. We made sure we climatised ours for 3 weeks before the build and then strengthened them with the metal base and ends 👍
