They only made 3273 GTO's in 1968 with the 400 2 bbl. carb. The manufactures used to do some strange things on cars back in those days. Why would you put a Hurst His and Hers shifter in a 2 bbl car? I remember my father taking me to the Pontiac dealer to check out the GTO when they came out in 1964. Great Video. Keep them coming.
As a former '68 GTO owner, get rid of that Rochester carb. That carb is pure garbage and replace it with a Holley. See if that paint buffs out before painting. Looks like it will. That is a beautiful survivor car and thanks for sharing.

Absolutely not, it would ruin the value and originality of the car.
Still in nice shape despite sitting for 50 years. You should get a pretty penny for this car should you decide to sell.
