Thanks so much for posting this, and for the presenter sharing his wonderful plethora of knowledge!
Just wanted to share that I've come across research about long term use of NSAIDs (non steroidal anti-inflammatories) being at least linked with, I think it was said to be the cause of (though I am hesitant to state anything for sure, I can't recall specifics at the moment so encourage everyone to look into the research on their own), but essentially I've come to understand that NSAIDs are at least potentially causing or contributing to increased deterioration of cartilage over time.
I'm curious about what the usual duration of NSAIDs in treatment (referring mainly to the list of treatments that are typically recommended to patients after being evaluated).
I'm sure there are plenty of cases where, even if it's not ideal, NSAIDs *are* nessecary long term, I just mention it as I've found few doctors have become aware of the long term problems with NSAIDs (understandably, as drug companies don't have much incentive to go back and clarify claims they may have originally made about tramadol etc being free of the risks from opiods etc).
Just being aware that everything can have risks and benefits (be it typical medications or herbal remedies, etc... Though personally I tend to prefer trying the more natural approaches when possible, as my experience is that often the medications given to me, that I once just blindly followed doctor's directions to take, having them reassure me of them being overall low risk of problems and not knowing at the time to do my own further research, has resulted in a great deal of worsening conditions/additional problems from long term use of medications as I was prescribed to take them by doctors, and due to whatever failures in the system of their education, it's been extremely rare that doctors are aware of how prescribed medications are sometimes the *cause* of some illnesses... It just seems to be something they are not taught to consider when investigating medical problems.
I don't say that with any ill - feelings towards the medical community and *certainly* I have only graditude towards this practicioner who so clearly has genuine care and compassion for the patients he treats, and I'm so thankful for those who worked to bring this presentation to us online and to this great doctor for sharing his knowledge and working to reduce the pain and impact that eds has on many people's lives.... Thank you all so so so much! :-D
