- This song was uploaded by another RUclipsr a few years ago, but sadly got taken down. I learned in the Comments section this song was one of 10 recorded in March 1984 from the recording sessions for A Hard Act To Follow (EP). This obviously didn't make the final cut, but it has a similar sound to If You Think I'm Crazy Now.

Hey Scott I just found this new song of Keith Whitley's called" don't take candy from strangers" that's on another channel but I was wondering if you could somehow get that song and upload it on your channel. It must have been a demo or he recorded it live because I can't find it anywhere else. I wouldreally love it on this channel and I think other Keith Whitley fans will love it as well. I absolutely love this song but I wish you could have added the lyrics because I don't know what some of the last verse says. Other than that it's actually my favorite Keith Whitley song now.

Thanks Scott I looked at the lyrics and I actually thought that's what it said ( leave up all that gin) line but now I know it is.
what a shame he scrapped this song because this song actually may have made the "hard act to follow" album actually do okay commercially.
It is a shame. Per RCA's procedures, every new artist of theirs at that time could only release a 6-song EP to start off. If one of his other 6 had to go to insert this song, I'd have a hard time choosing since I like all of the final selections.
