    As a kid of about 17 years of age, I was a truck jockey with a mate of mines brother (Craig) now unfortunately deceased. Craig worked for a company known as Rogray Towing and they had the contract to pick up all the wrecks after the filming had finished each day. I remember seeing the catering trucks and portable flood lighting trucks on the side of the road for the filming. I remember seeing the caravan (what was left of it) being hauled up onto a flatbed tow truck. The house that Jessie "Jess" Rockantansky goes to with the Holden Panel Van to see her grandmother and have a swim was an old house in Mount Ridley Road, Craigieburn. Now a grammar School. I used to drive passed it everyday.

      Thank you! We sure do love to keep these cars alive. We have some other great series on our channel. One where we save cars from the crusher, ones most would think beyond saving (No Falcon Left Behind), and another where we do stock and GT clone restorations of these beauties (Birds of Prey). Check those out if you get the chance. Thank you so much for watching and for your awesome comment!

    I must tell you the story. As a 20 something, would go down to a road at the back of some factories call cherry lane Laverton nth, vic, aust.
    there we would drag race our cars and blow clutches and engines. big deal Friday nights. One sat afternoon I went on cherry la as a short cut. the road was blocked!! I asked What The!! and he said Ahh SORRY MATE! They're doing a movie, I think it's called MadMax and a young guy called Mel Gibson will be a star! is what they say!
    Boom Boom, who would have thought!
    I saw the caravan scene. Man, I can still remember bits you don't see in the movie, needless to say My mates and I know every street they filmed on as it was our turf! as they say.
    My mate is crazier that me , he can resit the whole movie. Love those days. ( I had Holden monaro ss, green. Similar model to the night Rider! paid 5 G's now it's worth, $80 G's+).

      I was just watching this video through to try and find where you saw the FURY ROAD Interceptor replica and did not find it. I am guessing you may have seen it in the Reveal video for it or one of our event videos. If that is the specific car you are asking about, that was actually a clever trick done by the owner (though we probably could if someone wanted us to). In short the rear glass is complete, the tanks are a faux tank that bolted to the boot lid and cut to fit the contour of the glass, so they end where the glass starts giving it that look. I hope that helps. Thank you for watching and for the awesome comment! We truly appreciate the kind words.

      It is indeed. We do use the terms fairly interchangeably around the shop, usually tending to the Aussie terms when we are referring to Aussie cars. Boot (trunk), Bonnet (Hood), Stone Tray (Valance), Parcel Shelf (Package Tray), Sill (Rocker panel, though we call the top part the door sill like a window sill, and the lower section the rocker), Windscreen (windshield) etc. Hopefully you will forgive us yanks for generalizing or slipping up sometimes, you knew what we meant. Anyway, we will sure take good care of all the cars we restore. They deserve it.

    • @MadMaxCars
      @MadMaxCars  2 года назад

      Everyone has a bit different opinion of which American car is closest to the Falcon XA,XB,XC coupes. The bonnet looks a bit like a 71-3 Mustang Mach 1. The general silhouette looks a bit like a 71 Torino Soprtsroof. Neither really look close when parked side by side. Quite a few familiar "styling queues" in the Falcon Hardtops though. Still it would be a bit like building a General Lee with a Coronet, or Dom's Charger from the F&F series if that's a better reference. You can make a "tribute" that may remind people of it, but it will never be a correct "replica". That said, their a lot of guys out there who have build really cool tribute cars.

      You are quite right. The VIN plate does say "2DRSED". So that may well be it official definition. Still all of our Aussie mates call it either a "Hardtop" (which all the "Going Ford is the Going Thing" and similar Falcon commercials of the era I have seen also seem to call it), or Coupe. We tend to take our ques from our Mates on that stuff, often using terms like "Boot", "Bonnet", "Guards" etc when describing parts of the cars in general conversation. So though you are definitely right, we will probably continue to use the terms most people will associate with these cars. Heard habit to break, as in the USA no Fastback car like that is ever called a Sedan. Thank you very much for watching, and for your comment!

      @@NewstartGarageOZ No we are not talking about US car. Which is what as I mentioned, we take our queues on what we call them from our Aussie mates, and Ford Australia corporate advertising of the day. It just also makes sense that Fastbacks are not referred to as Sedans, not commonly anywhere that I am aware of.

      I'm from Australia.That's normal rust repairs on any old Ford car. They weren't the best design as far as water run off is concerned. The sedans are much worst for rust. Trust me I've owned many XB sedans.

      Uhh...yeah? Maybe then interior but the fringes aren't. Most of the population of Oz live on the fringes (or green bits) and we get a fair bit of rain along with the sunshine and fires! Where I live is not far from the snowfields (Yes, it does snow in parts of Australia as well, believe it or not!)

    • @MadMaxCars

      The large part of Australia's population in on the coasts. Salty ocean air, and they do get their fair share of rain. Even in the outback, there are acidic things like Eucalyptus and Melaleuca trees. Those things gather in places like the cowl and cause rust too. Plus like any USA build car of the era, no real rust preventative measures were taken at the factory.
