⁴ᴷ 2023 New Jersey Transit's 40th Anniversary Train Festival (10/1/23)

On October 1st 2023, New Jersey Transit had turned 40 years old, and thus as celebration, had brought out a plethora of heritage locomotives and railcars for the occasion. Specifically, ALP-46A 4640 was repainted into the scheme that many of NJT's earliest locomotives were painted into when they first started. It was also given a horn that was commonly found on GE E60 locomotives between the 70's and 80's. Both of NJT's remaining F40PH-2CAT's were also brought in, and shortly after the festival, were actually reactivated for service where they were needed. They were also used for the festivals excursion train, being the lead motors for the consist. Two out of now three GP40PH-2 heritage painted locomotives were also shown in front of a preserved ex Erie Lackawanna U34CH, and preserved Pennsylvania Railroad EMD E8 from a museum in Pennsylvania. After the main event, all trains were removed in a convoy from Hoboken to go to their respective hubs. #newjerseytransit
