  • On September 30th, NJ Transit ran a once in a lifetime excursion train to celebrate their 40th anniversary of railroad operations. At South Amboy, they held an event where they would swap their electric engines with diesel engines. A maneuver that was common at this station until the mid 1980s. I also got to see a few normal NJ Transit services while waiting.
While here, I also met ‪@NJT4211‬ and ‪@Thunderbolt_1000_Siren‬ . Go check out their channels!

Cool, trains rule. Fast or slow, big or small, I love em all. I've been on a train before, so awesome. This is my best birthday wish ever

Excellent video. We posted a video about our hoboken terminal day trip to see the nj transit 40th anniversary engines, including these engines. That terminal in hoboken was built in 1907 with copper left over from building the statue of liberty in 1886. No one wanted the scrap copper. The Trainboard

We were not able to get to south amboy, nj to see this engine change but did visit the hoboken. Nj train and ferry terminal the next day. These and other engines were parked in hoboken. We posted our video in tribute to these engines and the people that made and run them. Gary

It stopped to let off the passengers then backed up behind the switch to make room for the F40s to pull forward
