PS: Shayla was credited as Barfly due to context, I asked Barflies and Patrons who might like to get involved in the design. Shayla stepped forward, so glad she did. I checked with her before it went to print. ❤️ It’s actually a teeny painting on the inside of an Altoids (sp?) tin. Shayla does loads of these and they’re great. She should sell ‘em!
Thanks so much Vin 🙏. I just picked up my bottle while at the GWF weekend and can't tell you how much it meant to me to receive the bottle from Roy. I am waiting to open it in the next few days and very much looking forward to that special occasion ❤
I'm definitely a LL fan, love how experimental and varied they are. The peated stuff really has an unusual and distinctive character to it as well, lots to like and plenty of indie bottles available. I don't have this one but I do have a bottle of another very similar sounding first fill bourbon cask also done with chardonnay yeast, really lovely stuff, definitely find that grapey sourness and an almost green mint to it.
Really nice short review. We’ll done! I have one bottle of Loch Lomond Inchmoan 12 in my whisky library that I’ve yet to try and I’m looking forward to that.
Got my bottle at Royal Mile Whisky, I’ve not opened it, I’m hoping to meet up with Roy next month, and get him to sign it, before I get it opened. Definitely intriguing with the yeast, and if this LOLO is as good as their Glen Scotia 15 I won’t have anything to complain about.
Great review. I too was lucky enough to get a bottle. It's a very special whisky. I've also just received a Loch Lomond 9yo release that also features that Chardonnay yeast. It's very similar and I'll go as far as saying it's just as good (I hope Roy doesn't see that!)
It is said that the more air in a bottle as the whisky is emptied, the more a whisky is weakened and its flavor changed. Yet, having the dram in a glass is said to be affected not at all by air, but affected a lot by water. What is the truth?
It's a good question. I have no science for it but in my experience only a few bottles have been ruined by leaving them too long on the shelf. Most whisky is absolutely fine.
I read also that we, merry maltsters, should transfer the whisky in an emptying bottle to smaller bottles! -or use a natural gas spray to protect the whisky in the emptying bottle!
Thanks for the shout, Vin!
Haha I am glad you like it.
I'll always be a barfly. ❤️
Artwork like that definitely deserves a shout out at the very least!
Ahhh... nice to see you enjoy it. The cheque's in the post! 🙌 (PS: I'm jealous about the level in your bottle... mine evaporates 😏 )
I've had to be very careful with it, and will have to continue to do so as well 🤣 cheers Roy!
Roy respect ! I like your rewiev . Slante Mhath !
Haha 🤣
Still have it closed. Will open it on my bday on the 8th.

Not had any Lock Lomond yet I might go out and find a few bottles.
Highly recommended, they do such a huge range of flavours that they'll definitely have something for you

Are you still doing your own bottlings Vin?
I've got one maturing but that'll be 2025.
Sadly the first 2 releases have sold out but there's a few bottles of the Mackmyra available
