    I only recently tried loch Lomond 18 and I really enjoyed it. This bottle is still at my local shop. Thanks for details, I think I will get one. It also has 2 whisky 🥃 with it. Shame it's not glencairn ones.

    Thanks for shining another light on a Loch Lomond expression, Jim, and include the always interesting information from Michael. So thanks to Michael as well. May your approach be an example for other master blenders & distillery managers.

      +1 on that Michael Henry comment, Frank. He's really such a gentleman for his demeanor and approach.

      Couldn't have said it better Frank. Also amazing just how complex the "recipe" was for this one.

    The genius of Michael Henry again! Sounds fantastic. I'll see him at The Open in a few years in The Port. Nice hat by the way! ;)

    Jim, great stuff! Listening to you read Michael's description puts me in awe of these blenders who create these whiskies. What craftsmen they are and I love how active Mr. Henry is in the community. Haven't had any of the Open releases but LL 14 is one of my all time favorites. Cheers my friend

      Cheers. Thank you for the kind words. I guess there are so many whisky expressions released that some slip through the cracks. I thought this was a good series to showcase it.

    Got 2 bottles of the 2022 Open today on closeout for $25.99 each. Too cheap to not buy 2. probably should buy a few more at that price

      Cheers Al. I'll swear I saw this cap somewhere else 🤔😉.
      It's a good dram mate. Worth checking out.

    Glad you called it out right away. My mind was "Oh, let's hear how Loch Lomond is an amazing dram ..." (Just kidding, but you do tend to enjoy them). Love a whisky that has such a great finish. Thanks for sharing!

    Sing it Jim.....if you like Pina colada...
    I found an older dusty OPEN bottling, didn't know what to make of it at $150. 2017 or 18. But it is at over 50%.
    Love to see the "interesting" bottles.

    A fresh fill cask finish in a true sherry or port cask can give a thick red wine smell (and top note) to a whisky. I’ve run at home experiments with self aged oak cubes in sherry.

    nice review! im also a big LL fan and i really wanted to see a review of this one especially after i saw it at my local whisky store for 39 euros! what do you think btw about the new bottle design?

    • @WhiskeyNovice
      @WhiskeyNovice  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Alexander. I preferred the old bottle buddy. There was something slightly more elegant about it I thought. Although, had they changed from something eye-wateringly stunning to something pug ugly...it may have made a huge difference. The fact, however, that their bottles were a fairly standard shape anyway, means it didn't really matter that much to me. Just an opinion obviously.
      Cheers buddy.
