You asked for it, you got it.
After the positive reception of my Pokémon Colosseum medley, I proudly present to you, after many months of hard work, its sequel, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness.
Admittedly, I was reluctant to the idea at first. Pokémon XD didn’t have the same unifying feel to me as Colosseum; the musical themes are far more diverse in XD, so creating a medley out of it would be much more difficult. However after some critical listening of the soundtrack, I realized how it was genius in its own way, and knew that I was up to the challenge of re-creating it.
Incorporating guitar into predominantly guitar-less music is always a challenge, but in order to maintain the original feel of the soundtrack, I decided for this one to give it a little less prominence and instead allow some other instruments to shine, such as the keyboards and brass section. At this point I have to give a special mention to Marc Papeghin for his generous contribution to this project. The brass section really makes the soundtrack and this medley wouldn’t have been possible without it.
All in all I’m very pleased with how this turned out. I feel that this project is my defining work and that I’m a better overall musician after completing it. Once again thanks to Mr. Tsukasa Tawada for providing the world with this excellent music.

OMG the master himself... I personally thank you. Pokemon XD was the game to get me interested in the series as a whole when I was younger, and a couple years ago it hooked me when I FINALLY reached the final boss... All the music you made for the game contributed to the final snag... Or you could say snag ball (yay, relevant puns!) that got me invested in the series.

I know I'm a little bit late to the party, but the Lugia cry at the end of the demo and the arpeggios added into the Cipher Peon theme are absolutely top-tier moments. Goosebump-inducing.
I've never been able to play Colosseum or XD: Gale of Darkness but the first time I heard Miror B's theme, I was instantly in love.

When the end of the intro song got close, my brain mentally played the sound of Lugia's cry, and to hear even that represented as a guitar riff made my heart cry a little
I love how Phenac City sounds so dark but at the same time "nothing is happening here...".

I think the thing that I liked the most out of XD, more than anything else was the two baby pokemon added in gen 4 that they teased, they should bring stuff like that back

Man, I never noticed until now that the S.S. Libra theme takes clear inspiration from Dragon Quest! Makes sense, as Tawada was the sound designer for several Dragon Quest games!
The transition from Wild Pokémon Battle to Miror B is legendary

Nintendo needs to make at least one more Pokémon game that takes place in orre, who's with me on this?
Ardos was perfectly set up to be Cipher's last shot at world domination.
Then allow me to reiterate: It would be cool if they brought back the shadow Pokemon mechanics.
+Zyule13 I would honestly love another Orre game, it's damn great for a region.
Plus the towns have such energy and feel to them. These games all do! Colosseum and XD were a step in the right direction. Challenging us and getting us to use more uncommon pokemon and perhaps see how good some of em are!

At 3:06, the guitar is used to make a sound similar to Lugia's cry. It's really creative!
This actually brought tears to my eyes at times... This game was my first console Pokemon experience, so many good memories gossiping about Shadow Lugia with friends, playing the battle mode with cousins, just exploring the beautiful Orre region while still learning the series' mechanics... Not to sound boomer but they truly don't make the games like this anymore (Even PBR was a letdown, graphics aside)! Thank you for using your immense talent to tribute a fantastic game 🥰

This is probably the best rendition of the Miror B theme I've ever heard, and (considering how overdone it is) that's saying something!
The rest of the medley had its moments - you're right in that Colosseum's themes were more unified, so to speak, so that remains my favorite medley. I'm quite impressed with this one, though.

This represents the final year of my childhood. Seriously. Thank you for making this shit so awesome. I probably almost cried from the Sax and epic Guitar Parts. My jaw just dropped during the Cipher Battle themes though. Thanks for making this amazing my friend.
My favorite is the Cipher Peon Battle Theme for that beautiful and yet worrisome melodie coming from the piano. I just love this Pokémon videogame with my whole heart, same as Colosseum. To me, they’re perfect.
I keep coming back to this to listen particularly to the Cipher Admin Battle. It's astounding how such an already effective and ostensibly flawless track has been arranged for a band and somehow made even better. Makes me wish there was a mod for XD where this version of the song plays when you battle an admin for the final time. Too many things to evenhandedly point out, but as a metalhead and amateur drummer I LOVE the run-up from 11:56 that ends with the dramatic triplet fill at 12:10. Such tasteful and fitting use of meaningful pauses and metal drumming that somehow fits really well in a symphonic piece.
After 6 long years, I came back to this just to hear your arrangement of the Gateon Port theme. Six years and I'm still astounded by how the transition up until its end, I can vividly recall all of what I did in that place, where I went to, the battles that occured, and the moment I evolved my Eevee.
I hope you and everyone who contributed to this video are living a good life despite the pandemic. Maybe still creating inspirational music such as this.

Same. I’ve got mine, but my disc sometimes while I’m playing it, it doesn’t get read, so that makes me very sad. Now that I have a Nintendo Switch, I wish so badly that they give this videogame and Colosseum too, a re-release.

@@k.morris231 unfortunately the last time they were allowed to touch the Pokemon IP was with Pokémon Shuffle. Most of the original team was slashed, now they can only muster mobile games. RIP Gale of Darkness sequel.

Pokémon XD gale of darkness is my favorite Pokémon game of all time and one of the main reasons is the OST, especially the Chiper Peon, and Miror B theme. I’ve decided that this is going to be one of the first games I stream once I go full time streaming. Hearing this has brought back a lot of memories of my childhood and I can’t wait to play it again. 💯

When cipher peon battle played, I cried, and I've never even played this game or listened to any of the music.

Hahaha how did I even miss this - I've been a long fan of your Colosseum one but this one somehow slipped under the radar.
This is by far the best one and that's like saying that this vanilla fudge triple chocolate coated ice cream riding a jetpack into the sun with metal guitars playing behind it is more awesome than all of the other vanilla fudge triple chocolate coated ice creams all riding jetpacks into the sun. Outstanding, A++, special mentions:
- The trumpet and (especially) french horn in every track (especially Cipher Admin)
- The random acoustic guitar and tambourine in the Cipher Admin fight
- That guitar solo in the Cipher Peon fight
- That banjo and mandolin in the Gateon Port theme as well as that guitar
- I feel as if the Shadow Lugia fight was done exceptionally well. I don't even know why, that bass guitar probably
- The entirety of the Miror B theme
There are way more, but these are the ones I enjoyed the most. I don't even know if this is the nostalgia talking, but damn, there needs to be a HD Gen 6 remake of both games on Wii U with this as the soundtrack.

Over the years, I don't even know how many times I have listened to this. It's SO amazing! Absolutely powerful. The memories tied to both this game and the Colosseum prequel is extraordinary. I get chills every time I listen to this medley, especially how the last battle music draws out to a fade. Incredible work!!!
I’m right there with you bro I grew up on colosseum and XD before diamond and pearl, so these were MY Pokémon games. This game particular is the reason why I’m still a hardcore Pokémon fan to this day.

This was really amazing, once again. As you mention in the description, the themes are a lot more diverse (just contrast the Pokémon HQ Lab, Wild Pokémon Battle, and Phenac City Crisis themes), so the transitions were not quite as strong as those in your Colosseum medley. However, everything was really well done here, in terms of music, arrangement, and video. I really enjoyed this!
And with Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire coming out, and the recent Trozei sequel (which was also worked on by Genius Sonority), here's hoping for Orre Confirmed!

This is really amazing arrangement. Once again I'm impressed by the variety of instruments you can play. It makes arrangements like these that much more interesting. And pretty much all the transitions are smooth. You said in the description that you felt it would be harder to unify these songs, but I think they went together just fine. Pokémon XD is my favorite Pokémon and is literally my childhood in a nutshell. The music in this game is absolutely fantastic, and it think it definitely deserves this medley. Keep up the good work!

The Cipher Admin, Peon, and Final Boss are the best parts. Loved this game since I got it as a 6 year old. Really hope a sequel comes out some day.
