Now that this project has completed, it's so cool to be able to look back on it! While working on this series of videos, it felt like the most strenuous project I ever took upon myself. Looking back, it really wasn't that bad! I suppose that's how most things in life go. I'm looking forward to getting back to creating my normal videos! It's been quite a while since I recorded one, and I'm definitely feeling the itch to get creating again!
If you're an ensemble looking to perform this arrangement somewhere, you have my permission to do so! I would love to see a video recording as well. You must be pretty fortunate and/or crazy to attempt playing this, kudos to you!

You're a cool guy
Thank you
Thank you, this was truly an act of kindness
you sir, are the next MVP (next to Carlos who splendidly composed this)
Thank you, not only for taking the time for doing this, but for also acknowledging that Zeldas Lullaby was first in LttP
This is amazing. But it also works for desktop btw.
"Gamers rise up as the band sings the Halo theme"
We have some top-tier commentary right here.
this needs top comment right now

Mission success. It looks like it’s top comment right now
It's not fun to mock the dude that picked the less iconic theme
I: The Joy of Gaming -- 0:00
II: Press Pause -- 6:07
III: Battles & Bosses -- 13:43
Special Mentions:
Dearly Beloved (Best. Arrangement. Ever.): 9:45
Megalovania × Gangplank Galleon mashup: 18:40
Thank you insaneintherainmusic. My life is now complete.
Dearly Beloved into Aquatic Ambience my dude
Connor Buckley The Aquatic Ambience was so good. I want to make a real jazz arrangement based around it.
insert King K Rool asking if DK wants to have a bad time
The 8-bit big band have an Aquatic Ambience (i think)
same feel, the dearly beolved arragement is just amazingly beautiful, thans for the time mark men
I think insaneintherain is actually the most underappreciated RUclipsr ever.
I have to say, 11:30 has to be one, if not the prettiest parts I've ever heard come from your library. Absolutely gorgeous.
Damn, that national park theme always gets me!
just like the one up girl
This video is probably single-handedly one of my all time favorite videos on this platform. 20 minutes of beautifully-arranged, uninterrupted jazz, features only music from video games, game that have meaningfully impacted thousands, if not millions of lives. Thank you to everyone involved in the creation of this masterpiece and especially Carlos, you've made many days a lot more interesting!
11:49 "Thicc band full band orchestration..."
Hmmmm...
Still amazing work Carlos! The amount of time put into rehearsal and mixing must have taken full days to do.
I always look forward to more awesome VGM jazz!
"Gamers rise up as the band sings the halo theme"
Oh snap! I didn't notice that one! Lol, thanks for bringing it to my attention. :)
There are so many things I didn’t hear when listening to the three movements without the score. With the score in front of me, I now hear so many hidden elements that I did not hear before that take this arrangement from a 10/10 to 15/10. Outstanding job!
Honestly, listening to things with the score in front of you is so fun
Holy shit this is a person I certainly didn’t expect to randomly find in a youtube comment section, but it makes sense that it would be here from such a huge music nerd lol
4:47 "brass rudely interrupt" that made me laugh as both a brass and woodwind player - seriously though, I loved to see the thought process behind such an amazing process, awesome work!
Initially wanted to play this in the background, ended up reading the entire commentary
dude happens every time to me too
That's a lot of sheet.
What an absolutely grand undertaking and accomplishment to create and perform something like this. Bravo!
A year later and this still makes me tear up listening to the second movement. Thank you so much for the amazing work you've done over the years. As a saxophonist myself I respect everything you do and know that you're appreciated!
Ah, yes, everyone remembers the beautiful song ZeldaÄôs Lullaby.
Zelda,Äôs Lullaby*
Serious questoon why with the weird spelling with the accenr marks
@@alexanderwilliams4469 I think it has to do with him writing it down beforehand and then when he copied it over to the video editing program, it didn't recognize the character encoding. Basically the same reason you see %20 instead of a space in a URL.
Alexis Ourobos Pretty much every time there’s an “ ‘s ” it changes it to ,Äôs
@@alexanderwilliams4469 He wrote it in some word processor which replaced apostrophes with 'smart' quotes, instead of just using a text editor.
To this day I think this is my favorite video on youtube! I keep coming back to it!
The mix of megalovania and gank plank galleon was something I didn't know I needed so much !... x')
This is awesome, I listened to this when it first came out and I still come back to play the violin part on recorder
I can finally listen to all three movements without having to listen to the extra clip at the end of each of them! :^)
You are a GOAT, my guy. Love your arrangements with a passion!
this is such a weird thing to loose it for, but the foreshadowing going into pallet town by using the Pokemon title screen vamp is absolute GENIUS.
I always seem to come back to this, I love it
I love you all. You are fulfilling my two goals: flying together with birds and doing music with birds. You and I are fellow crows dancing on the sheet of music. Fluid, swinging, dipping, and ascending are all what we do.
At least 1k of these views is me coming back and listening to this again. Never ceases to bring a smile to my face. Thank you for this. This is phenomenal. Well done!
Whoa. This is just epic. I loved the commentary, and the "trombones play this (somehow)" comment made me burst out laughing. But the music is of course the real star, and your arrangement and the players' performances are perfect. Excellent job!
9:37 i love that Pokémon lick in the saxophone section
I rarely say this, but man is this video is criminally under-watched and needs more views.
2:41 It's interesting that you mention Bolero-like for the Zelda overworld theme, since they originally planned to use Bolero in place of that theme!
Why hasn't any one of the big video game companies taken this amazing musician under their wing and have him create brilliant music for their games yet?! Someone hire this man! Your music is amazing, Carlos. Keep on performing great tunes for all of us to dance and battle to!
1:29 The iconic theme every fanboy knows and loves is now portrayed with old-timey instrumentals, IN A GOOD WAY! ^_^
Route 26 almost made me tear up for some reason
OMG and the rainbow road right after too :')
I went back to listen to this again and my goodness, Carlos, your arrangement and composition skills are unmatched! You manage to place each instrument in exactly the place it needs to be at every given moment while handling some really tricky chords and chord progressions and creating some orchestrations that are better than any rendition I've heard before. The Dearly Beloved X Simple and Clean, National Park theme, and the Megalovania x Gangplank mashup all made me tear up each time, sometimes from the beauty and sometimes just from the awe of how you made it work so well. You're gonna go places, man, big places, and I can't wait to see what's in store for you!
Thank you so so much! It was a huge labor of love, and I'm so glad it came out the way it did!
I keep coming back to this, and freakin' GANGPLANK MEGALLEOVANIA just gets better every time! I still love this so much
Simply fantastic! I hope you have a good rest of your day :)
Dude, I was looking for some music to vibe with, and what I found would last me maybe the entire year. This is amazing man, Keep it up
Edit: How could people dislike this?!
Thank you so much for this arrangement and the scores! We played this recently at our video game concert and it was so much fun! it was a dream of mine to one day play video game music for a concert and I really enjoyed this medley.
This deserves more attention
Thank you so much for creating such an amazing arrangement! It made my nostalgic gamer heart weep in it's beauty and jam to it's swinging beats~ Absolutely love all three movements!
I think I speak for many when I say I feel this as the current capstone of fan created video game arrangements. Somehow manages to barrage me with goosebumps and tears in all sections, multiple times. Seriously congrats, InsaneintheRain, and to every musician involved. Proud Patron since day 1! 💗💧
God, I can,Ȁȏt believe how good this is! I swear, this piece is the main reason I went into a music major in college.
I remember a few years back hearing this and really wanting to play along with the sheet music. I was really new to playing my instrument tho so I could barely play it. Now 2 years later I can play the whole thing! Love the music man
damn. you killed it carlos! hopefully youll be doing one of these again because im going to berklee this fall and i would love to be playing for one of your vids!
Man this is just so insanely good omg! Like, it brings back so many good memories at the same time as it does something brand new i just absolutely love it! Thanks for all the amazing musicians for making me sit here absolutely shocked and without words. Just thank you, from the bottom of my heart
It is such an honor, pleasure, and privilege seeing how your channel, and moreover, you as a musician, have evolved over the past several years and how the content has matured and blossomed into something so musically astounding. I still look back at your old works when I need a lil bit of childhood nostalgia LOL. I can't wait to see the future projects you have in store and to look back at these videos. Keep doing what you love, bro, you're gonna do even GREATER things!
a mashup of gang plank galleon and megalovania is absolutely foul and i love it
This is pure beauty, what an amazing arrangement. And thank you so much for sharing the scores!
The only reason this video has any dislikes at all is because the people who dislike it are mad there aren't more people liking this video
I really enjoyed the second movement, especially the guitar solo with dearly beloved. Keep up the great work.
This is great. I love the foreshadowing Into other songs. Excellent work.
what a beautiful medley and the voice of the singer, just woaaa ... absolutely amazing job guys !! you should be proud of yourselves for being so cool!!
How did I not find this sooner. This is amazing and I love listening to this while I work. I use your music on stream, I always give credit in the channel descriptions and a command linking your channel for the chat to use. Keep up the great work I love this :D
I find this interesting... to find out what a composer is up to and what he is going for with his music is very interesting.
It makes me wish I had some experience with Jazz. I would LOVE to play in a band! That would be awesome!
O my god i love that. So much power and never giving any down time, so much fun to listen to. Great job!
I love listening to music and following along with the sheet music, Thanks for adding your commentary text. 100% love this vid
Great job, i like how you worked with the originals atmospheres and built upon that. Kinda wish all of the snippets were full tracks
Though there were times when i found the arrangement to be a little too busy. For example Dr. Wily stage 1, when the guitar is introduced and the two melodies play at the same time.
Another objective criticism: Moar Metroid! Actually, more Everything! O3O
Need more, this guy is pure epicness.. love you, outstanding job.. please more
i'm afraid we are going to need a full version of that gangplank galleon megalovania mashup
you are a prodigy. this is awesome.
No clue what i'm looking at, but this jazz covers are amazing
Can you imagine if he heard this live? That would just be an incredible experience.
17:00 remains my absolute favorite part
You have no idea how much I needed this
I cried watching this
Well this is the best videogame medley I've ever heard! And those musicians from Berklee are top-tier! Hopefully I will be playing this arrangement on October at my music school percussion-concert :'D
Thank you for your analogy of the arrangement. As a music student this is helpful example for score study!
Loved it, thank you
Yes.
Just yes! This is amazing, I really can't describe it because it's so beautiful.
National park makes me cry. I don't know why. Just. thanks.
This would be a very long show to preform, but it would be worth it!!
I love everything about this. thank you so much for spending time to create this masterpiece!
"brass rudely interrupt and enter with punctuated hits of their own"
^^ pretty much all big band music ever.
Beautiful. ENCORE...oh there's a replay button? Then PRESS IT LINDA! I DON'T HAVE ALL DAY!
I want the Dearly Beloved arrangement played at my wedding, whenever that happens (I'm not engaged or anything, I just think it would be amazing)
I LOVE IT!!!! Well done!!!
Ah yes. Everyone's favorite, ZeldaÄôs lullaby
I don't ever comment on videos, but what I wouldn't give to hear the full version of that Decisive Battle arrangement from Octopath.
Man, who is playing that Bass Bone? They/He is doing work down there!
10:10
DAAAMN, Kingdom Hearts fans aint ready for this one
it would be AMAZING to see this performed at MagFest
omg ... i just want to say thank you so much for that
15:20 With session players that good, how couldn't you expect them to play such a killer rhythm on a trombone? Other than that this entire series of videos has brought tears to my eyes for games I had never even played before, and that is something I have never had come my way.
Awesome !!!
Congratulations 😍
It's a very good video game jazz medley !
The best* 😘
Sooooo incredible!!!
I dont get anything about these music stuff but thats still so very cool
I still cry at the dearly beloved part oh
AMAZING
But where's DuckTales moon theme?
actually cries at the super Mario 64 ending
18:24
Please release on Apple Music!
He said he's not allowed to.
KasaiRayquaza any knowledge as to why?
@@gidbro2579 Read the video description
@@gidbro2579 He said that since he recorded it at his college he's not allowed to sell it.
This is the type of shit I wish I was taught to play in band. 😭😍
Is it possible to also upload your music to Amazon Music? I absolutely love all your works!
I just realized, this entire medley is the same length as Snarky Puppy's The Clearing.
10:52 totally sounds like "Gwyn, Lord of Cinder" to me!
Can I just say fire fire docks was my favorite part. Would you agree?
Dire* not fire haha
I dunno man, those docks were pretty fire fire
I don't think it's very likely to see a group for this kind of instrumentation. And that's not even considering how hard it looks!
18:25
god this is just so fucking cool
6:09 is the second one
As amazing as this is, most of this music comes from the same 10 or so Japanese game series. Only Halo isn't from Japan here (Undertale is American, but basically Japanese-style). There's plenty of great music in American games beyond Halo. Elder Scrolls would be another good place to go for starters, and Spyro after that.
please let there be a movement 4
"brass rudely interrupt and enter with punctuated hits of their own"
I'll be the first to say... the world sings with you, Carlos EinsaneintheRaine
...hehehehe see what i did there hehehe
THAT POLLYANNA QUOTE TO START OFF THE WHOLE THING
