I think allowing leeway on Baton Pass and Futaba is fine. Baton Pass CAN add up over time, but it's not usually going to, and Futaba is completely unreliable in terms of getting what benefits when you might want them, and disallowing both would just hinder you. If you REALLY wanted to be strict about it, then sure, you can never baton pass with Ryuji after darts, never rank up baton pass, never rank up Futaba at all, never pick up will seeds, never allow heals from being put to sleep, etc etc. But I think just disallowing healing items/skills/passives works fine.
25:05 From what I understand Japanese tabloids would mostly go nuts over the age gap rather than the power dynamic. That's why Kenji's link in P3 is played for laughs.
Before watching, I can already assume Ann will be invaluable for her Sexy Technique confidant ability, not to mention her Persona trait to reduce SP cost of magic. Makoto will likewise also be extremely useful for her Marakukaja to reduce incoming damage on the party, not to mention her trait to increase the chances of landing Shock/Freeze/Burn. Damn, that was quite the Akechi fight, it definitely plays into what Makoto says afterwards "we only won by teaming up".
I like this challenge as it puts more emphasis on dodging and aliments in battle. I look forward to a challenge where skills can only be used once per battle, or skills can only be used once in a run. I want basic attack to be great again! (not only to remove tetra/makara karns)
I am not sure using skills in battle once per battle would be possible with the longer fights like Yaldabaoth and Shido. For basic attacks only, you would need to allow yourself some exceptions to get by certain fights (ex. the triple Rangdas in the arena, Shido Phase 1, or even the Okumura fight would be tricky), other wise, it would be impossible. Both would be fun ideas to see if people can make them work, at this point, I think they are the only types of challenge runs that have not been completed for P5R.
@@Linkforlife199 I mean technicals with fusing broken personas and having surplus items stocked up on would allow it to be possible. Depends on restrictions how doable it could be.

Ooooooo. That could be really interesting. My first thought is wondering how Okamura's "Boss" fight would go given that is Very Much designed for you to hit weaknesses. But I bet there'd be some other danger points I'm not even thinking of to make it a Very Interesying run.
@@SailorMusicCat Some other points I'm thinking of are the madarame fight (both phases) and a few treasure demons who are weak to most elements (but those can be avoided)
@vlader1743 ooooo I hadn't even thought of Madarame but you're right! That'd probably be one of the first potential Big Issues given it's only the Second palace.
@@SailorMusicCatIt is possible, but very rng dependent. In my case I got lucky fusions with good skills during alerts and prepared a good overlevelled persona with almighty boost and megidola. But of course in a challenge run they might not use Strength's ability to fuse personas above your level.
Yo like that sounds really interesting! Depending on the extent of the rules, you'd have to basically avoid abusing status ailments (so Kasumi's special hook ability might be bad because it gives the enemies status ailments at the start of battle) for technicals. If an enemy accidentally gets afflicted - say with Burn, Shock, or Freeze, you have to be careful not to exploit a technical, and may even have to wait until the status wears off before you can attack. You'd have to reverse your thinking and attack with everyone that CAN'T exploit a weakness, needing to look up the weaknesses of enemies beforehand to make sure you DON'T hit them. If you wanna be really mean, forbid critical hits too (so you have to reload your last save if your party gets a physical critical hit) so that baton passes are completely impossible in the challenge as a whole - but this rule isn't necessary if you wanna leave criticals as the ONLY method of baton passing in the game. Obviously none of the rules apply to the enemies because challenge duh
if you do a perfect run (aka get all confidants to max asap and no wasted days), if you do the gym the rest of the free times with about half the time using protein, its possible to start the game at 500+ HP and 300+ SP at the start of a new game
I have an idea for a challenge run, it is not the most challenging but a fun challenge, not a normal fusion run. what I mean by that is not a fusion that Make a new persona, instead you only use Gallows Fusion and the Electric Chair to get stronger personas, with Gallows Fusion you can give each persona a lot of exp and level them up, and with the Electric Chair you can easily get skill carts. what the fun part of this challenge is is that you use persona that you normally never use in the late game, basically using pixie or base jack frost to fight the last few bosses. basically making a connection to your persona just like making connection with your pokemon and making a strong team of your favorite early game personas
but it's still easier to power up lategame Personas- you usually have access to a skill before the respective skill card, as well, and lategame Personas have better affinities
It's one of those holdovers from Persona 3, where the mechanic itself got shafted in the name of QoL but the underlying story and world building basis for that mechanic remained. The Conditions mechanic in P4 and 5 would actually make for a good challenge idea.
Already watched the video twice, once in full when it came out early for members, and once as background when I was going to sleep. Better believe I'm happy to watch it a third time.
Persona but you have 4 moveslot syndrome from Pokemon. Visually this must be the first four moves in the party member's list, but any passives your party members obtain before their actual slots are full have to be in those first slots, unless deemed useless in normal gameplay like Adverse Resolve. Could also limit Joker to 6 personas other than fusion fodder. This run I feel like would make great use of the Church to clear out passives late, and probably limit the amount of technical spam you're able to dish out. Gotta pick and choose between buffs, debuffs, actual attacks, statuses, passives...
A challenge i'd like to see someone do is to beat the game with just the Personas Base skills. No Fusing to get additional Skills, No adding Skills later, just capture and use as is.
If you're looking for a new challenge, try P5R with no teleporting. Meaning you have to go all the way through the dungeon and then have to walk back. I recently completed this and found it quite difficult. On the days where you send the calling card you have to walk to the boss fight. Only exception in mementoes, Early monsters will just run from you so it's just a waste of time.
35:02 you can't proc shock on shadows that null/repel/absorb elec. Same with ice and freeze and fire and burn. Resisting the element also makes the status condition harder to apply while being weak, easier. To proc a shock with your gun on Norn, you'd have to use Elec Break first.
