  • Hello again from The Pottery Corner my studio near Chichester on the South Coast of England for another kiln opening glaze firing. In this firing there are the first of the finished monoprinting pieces I have been working on over the last few weeks. Great results and such a great technique. I am completely hooked! Also unloaded are some students pieces featuring Amaco Celadon and Potter’s Choice glazes and a really lovely textured platter in Amaco Fog from a Birthday Party I hosted last month. Gorgeous and how lovely to use something you have made. Cissy, the studio dog, makes an appearance as usual - she can never be left out! I hope this will inspire you to try something new on your own work. Check out my Top Tip Tuesday videos for tips on clay related processes. If you wish to see items for sale from the studio head over to my website at thepotterycorner.co.uk to view items in the online shop. Course information is also available together with kiln services. Hope you have a chance to take a look. Do like and subscribe to see more from the studio.
    Cheers Sarah Amos

Good luck with your show. I have one also. A little one, but it should be fun. Great glaze unloading.

Thanks Carolyn. It's always exciting and terrifying in equal measure doing a show. Luckily my husband helps boost my confidence when I am full of self doubt. Good luck with yours 🍀

I love your mono printing pieces! I would really like to learn how you do it. I have never used colored slip before and I'm a bit nervous about trying it. Thank you for sharing!

Still watching in Sydney. I’d love a top tip Tuesday showing how you get rid of the little sharp bits from the cookie stands.

Μay I ask why you use the stilts ? ( shards )

Hello. Thanks for the question. If you want to glaze your pieces all over (including the bottom) you have to place on a three legged prop or it will stick to the kiln shelf- both ruining the piece and the shelf! These little props leave the shards as they stick to the glaze. They are easily removed with a file and leave the three pinhole marks on the back of the pot. Hope that explains why!
