This boat build has really come a long way. Thanks for taking the time to put this content out. Can't wait to see the next upgrade/ improvement! I just made a mobile livewell for my 18ft Lowe big jon
@MVB Outdoors I used a storage container thats about 5 gal with a screw on lid. Added a battery powered bubbler with an airstone (beyond bubbles) off amazon. I'll probably upgrade to a cooler down the road when I find one at a garage sale or something.
The most comprehensive I've seen yet. Thank you. I was wondering if you could lay them down at all. the insructions I got , I might as well go to China !
What measurements would I need in order to use rivets? I would like to use them. They looked nice on yours. Would it be the size of the pilot hole you drilled?
I use 3/16 rivets so you would drill a 3/16 hole. You would wanted closed end rivets so water cannot pass through them. These are the ones that I use: amzn.to/4cr4nNE
I do a lot of casting for smallmouth bass. Do the aluminum side poles get in the way of casting? The Bimini’s come in 2 heights, I think 44” and 53” heights. Which did you pick?
I positioned it so the front and rear decks would be open for casting, the interior it would get in the way but I also don't usually keep it open when actively fishing. It's more for the down time. Link in description to the one I picked, I forget the height.
Curious about the decision to not have the cover over the seats? Was this just due to choice for storage when down? Seems the top not coveing the seats defeats the purpose of the top. Considering adding one and just asking for my information. It appears you had a couple feet of stern deck to move back for storage of top? Clean install! Like the idea od the side skirts to add comfort for my wife.
Positioning had a lot to do with keeping the back deck area available for fishing even with it up as well as storage when not in use. However, it being over the seats only matters for noon, other than that the sun is hitting it at an angle anyway, the side panels help more for that. All in all, we didn't have any issues with shade in the seats in this configuration. Excellent choice though for comfort, really helps cool the boat down.
I’ve been waiting a long time for a video like this - well done -Thank you ! - I have an Alumacraft 1448 - can’t wait to install a Bimini top- the rivets are awesome -what exactly did you use- rivet gun, size rivets etc to make it happen ? Thanks again
Awesome. I'm 5'8" so maybe I can squeeze through. I got a used one for cheap so if it doesn't work, I'm not out much. Also adjustable rail mounted bases so no hole drilling. :-)
My sides measure 72". I just ordered a kakit 67-72 wide becauae i dont want the bars hanging over the edge of the boat when its collapsed for storage...do yiu think the 72 is going to fit?
I guess you're expecting to spend a lot of shade time in the middle of the boat. 🙂 The driver isn't going to have shade except for certain times driving into a setting or a rising sun. Early morning and mid-day (hottest) the driver is screwed.
I didnt want it to lay down in the middle of the back deck, in this position I kept the maximum amount of floor space while also getting great sun cover.
@mvboutdoors I understand but during use you would need to keep the bow facing the sun or else it becomes useless with the sun at your back. Or is that position good enough cover?
Where did you get those mounting brackets
Bimini Mounts w/ Quick Release Pins

@@mvboutdoors thanks
@@diymarine837 those are not curved but flat mounts, so link is not accurate but I’ll search for the curved ones

That's something I've been wanting to do! What size cooler did you go with?

@@nosam5k Great idea, I'm using a small 2.5gal bucket setup similarly but I want to do a cooler at some point.
Can't wait to get this out on the water and try it out!!
I just I stalled this on my boat, super simple.
The boat is looking great! Amazing job!
Thank you!
Been waiting for this video, I gotta get my Bimini top up soon, I'm loving your boat man!
Thanks me too! Haha -- It wasn't to bad, a bit of measuring but overall pretty painless.

What size pop rivets did you use for mounting brackets? THX
@@gambels1 I used these: amzn.to/4cfHprM
3/16 closed end

Looks great. And nice motor mounting backing plate😉😁
Haha, it's working great! It was a great suggestion
wow looking like an awesome rig . Nice job
Thanks Frank, always tinkering!
Great idea to use rivets instead of screws!
TY so much. One question, if you need to replace a piece that was riveted, how are the rivets removed?
You drill out there center and they pop out, very easy to do!
@@mvboutdoors Thought that was the answer, ,,,cool.
May I ask where you bought the stainless mounts?
@@mikegun8774 Sure thing, here you go:

My Lund WC 14 is 60 inch wide outside edge to outside edge. So I would go with 61 to 66, or 54 to 60?
54-60 cause your mount will need to be in the center of the edges 59 - 1/2 on both sides on a 1.5-2 “ gunnel

I'm using a rivet tool like this:

And these closed end rivets:

Thank you very much
How tall are you and are you able to walk under the 1/2 stowed position?
I'm 6'1 and I have to duck but I can get by

Will this work on a 13ft v bottom
All Bimini s have a working widths measure your boat edge to edge width and cover 4,6,8 feet center where u want it
Subtract 1” from that depending on how wide the top rails are probably 1.5 “ My jon 6’ or 72” so a kit 68-72or 69-74” width
My sides measure 72". I just ordered a kakit 67-72 wide becauae i dont want the bars hanging over the edge of the boat when its collapsed for storage...do yiu think the 72 is going to fit?
Yeah you should be fine with that size
One thing I've learned from your videos is that you love to use rivets..never had good luck with them in the long run.
To each their own I suppose, I've had great luck with rivets. The amount, type and positioning of them matter a lot.
I guess you're expecting to spend a lot of shade time in the middle of the boat. 🙂 The driver isn't going to have shade except for certain times driving into a setting or a rising sun. Early morning and mid-day (hottest) the driver is screwed.
To stop a loud whistle noise at full throttle twist the straps once..
Good advice I'll remember that
looks like it should have been moved back at least a foot or 2.. no?

@@delzotto777 I have the same question, I totally get wanting to preserve the back deck space when it's stowed, but does it shade the seats enough?
Looks too small to keep you out of the sun. I need a bimini for shade from the Texas sun!
Good luck in Texas!
