Wow! I feel like I just finish a 2yr electrical class! Finally hands down the best description! Everyone else on RUclips talks a lot and no information! They just say I run the wire like this and like that but doesn’t explain anything about bus, fuse, batteries! Thanks bro!
I appreciate you laying out the actual components on the plywood, it made for a great visual. Also helped that it was really easy to hear you. Much appreciated.
They are basically a hub for you to add more Accessories without stacking them on the battery switch or batteries.. let me know if you have any questions.. and thanks for watching..
By far the best explanation I could find on RUclips, for real. Thank you taking the time to set this all up on a sheet of wood, really helps understand this so much better. I am about to re-wire a used boat I just bought and being a newbie this was very helpful. Cheers!
Thank you for your time and effort with this video. Your information will speed up my 'Dual Battery Install' and hopefully with LESS "learn from your mistakes" system of learning.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ruclips.net/user/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Very good explanation. I just got my first boat and the guy that had it before me just had a mess with cables running everywhere and nowhere. I want to rewire everything and make it clean. This helped a ton. Thank you!
Time has come to upgrade battery’s and thankfully found someone who took the time to explain everything, I was worried if I could mix a cranking with a deep cycle and you’ve answered my question thank you so much
Recently purchased my first boat (Raider 182) and your channel has been hugely helpful. Thank you for making all these videos and for making them informative but easy to follow.
Awesome thank you so much ! I really appreciate it! That’s a awesome boat! Congratulations! Glad you like the channel and find it helpful! That’s what I make the videos for.. glad to hear that!
This is exactly what I was after! Just got a new project with absolutely no power on it, need to build a brand new system for lights, nav etc! This video is helpful
This is exactly what I was looking for. Your explanation is excellent as usual and now I have the confidence of at least knowing what the batteries are doing and more importantly which one was my flat cranking battery which needs replacing I think. Now I can look forward to getting it all fixed up and will be able to follow what the electrician is talking about. Cheers Jason. Have a good day mate.
Thanks nomad! Glad the video helps explain things for people so they can kinda have a little better understanding of how the system works.. thanks for watching the channel and commenting! Much appreciated!
Have to agree with others this is the best explanation of how to set up your batteries with bus bars & fuse block. So helpful and easy to understand thank you!
Finnally a video that gets to the point and great visual demonstration. Being new too the boating game, i was needing a simple video and this one is hands down the best! Thanks man
Wow this gives me some confidence in just understanding what I’m looking at in my electrical system of my boat. New to boating and worried I’m gonna be dead in the water over no electric. Thanks
This is the exact explanation I’ve been trying to find for the last 2 years. I like how you explained it on a small scale, easier to understand. Thank you.
I like running a Blue Sea Systems breaker panel at the console. No fuses to deal with, lighted switches, and waterproof. I have to rewire my new-to-me boat soon. Very informative video.
@ReelLifeFisherman the breaker between the battery and your fuse block was a nice touch and I will most likely be doing the same. I'll be adding a second battery as I'm adding a lot of electronics to this boat, most of which will be running when the motor is off.
I just bought an 1987 Glasstream bass boat and the guy did a lot of new wiring and he did a nice job, in fact that same fuse box you showed us. Which I learned from your video to connect my fish finder, and some usb chargers, I definitely want to do this battery set up. Excellent video and well done, I am confident with your video I can do this, thank you again.
Finally - something easy to follow. Will wire up my new 12 volt trolling motor like this so it can charge while I am running. Nice and simple. Just don't turn it through the off position (as per comments...)
I thought for sure you would've had more subscribers. I really like this high quality, very neatly explained video. Thank you very much and I hope you find yourself making more of these videos for us.
Thanks so much! I appreciate it! The channel is definitely growing! I’ve been putting out videos for about 2 years and it’s starting to grow a lot faster now.. hopefully it keeps going! Thanks for watching and commenting !
You explained everything so well, you have relieved so much stress off my shoulders as I am going to rewire my boat as the previous owner has it as a mess. Thank you!
Thank you, this was so simply explained and well presented. Had 2 questions if anyone can answer. You mentioned to power off the boat and electronics before switching to battery 1 or 2, what about if you are switching it to the combined setting having power from battery 1 and 2, would you still have to power down the boat? And also, when I have 2 batteries on the boat how do you generally charge each battery especially the house bagtery which would be used more for when the boat is off out in the water? Sorry may be dumb questions but trying to figure all this out.
Justin just wanted to say thank you for the info on the BOAT DR had my boat for three days great quick service awesome work and fast thanks so much for the info on these guys headed to the water real soon just finishing up all the boat stuff thanks Ross !
The ground would go to the negative bus bar or on the negative side of the fuse block if you have that style.. thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions.. glad you like the video and thanks for watching and commenting!
Great out of vehicle demonstration. From all the videos I have seen very good videos however this gives me confidence that I'm on the right track. Thank you as what you have done can easily be understood and is set up to maximize pleasure and more chances to save your life . That whole set up using the best marine supplies is relatively cheap and can be done by a person that is willing to correctly make the cables snake it through the safe and proper areas. Thanks Bro!!!
Thank you brother you just learnt me something really appreciate it very well explained and right to the point and quite cleared and basic so that everyone can understand it somewhat. Thank you really appreciate it.😊
excellent job brother. I would add one important thing, make sure your negative terminals are connected to the water some how to ensure the negative system is grounded.
This video is great! Is there any chance you would turn this into a multi-part series? I would love to see how you add an isolator and charging system to this and explain how those work using the board you have created here. I know you have a couple other videos where you're adding those to your boat, but this makes it so much easier to see and understand how everything comes together. Thanks!
Absolutely! I have been thinking about that as well .. great idea! And I will be keeping the board around for future videos .. thanks for watching and commenting!
I support Tyler Olson’s message! I know this is a diy video but I don’t think he realizes how helpful this for other circumstances. This helped me understand what to check when something is wrong any electronics. My pumps went out and now I’m on the hunt
@@ReelLifeFisherman have you gotten around to doing the isolator and selector switch combo video yet. Also I installed this on my boat, however the crank battery stays on all the time, only the 2nd battery gets shut off..any suggestions?
@@ReelLifeFisherman thanks so much for this video buddy. It has helped me out hugely. But like the others I would love to see this video expand a little bit to show where an alternator gets attached to and also solar chargers.
Wiring has always been my weakest point, I just can't wrap my head around it. I can rebuild engines and carbs blindfolded but wiring???? no-go for Sqwatchy. All that to say this video was extremely helpful and the explanations are clear and concise. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom in a simple and basic way without going too deep into unnecessary details
