"I'm not making this boat look fancy like all these bass boats you see on RUclips." -Makes the Jon boat fancier than all the fancy bass boats on RUclips. Seriously, your boat looks great.
After being in the automotive industry my entire life, working on ever thing from ambulances to handicap vans, this is one of the better wiring video's I have seen for people starting out
Thanks bud! Glad you enjoyed the video, appreciate you watching.
I agree Lyle I just bought my project boat and watching his videos this guy is awesome
Industrial Electrician and Maintenance Tech here. I've been in this field my entire adult life. Residential, commercial, industrial and line work. Don't listen to the inexperienced keyboard warriors. You might not be perfect or doing it their way, but it looks good to me. I thought about a way you could've done the control board a little different, but that was just a personal preference of mine. You did a good job. It was a good video.
thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Appreciate you watching even though you do electrical for a living. LOL
I’m an electrician for homes and you did a fine job! Boat and automotive wiring is foreign to me. Great work man
Thank you sir! Appreciate you watching and glad you enjoyed it.
Does the Copper tinned cable allow increased current carrying capacity?
@@NICHOLASBYRNE3931no, if anything it adds slight resistance but nothing that would change the amp rating of the wire. Tinned is just good to protect from corrosion.
This was a Great video. I like that you are quick and to the point. No messing around. You keep it simple. Thanks!
I appreciate that! Glad the video was helpful.
This video was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Never thought about a cut-off switch to shut everything down. It's on my shopping list! You are so right about skimping elsewhere, NOT on marine grade wire! I have one suggestion and you can take it or tell me to shove it. Next time a troll starts giving you shit about what they thought was wrong, etc. simply say "Thank you for sharing that with me." They never know if you are serious or screwing with them. If our paths ever cross remind me I owe you a rack of beer for taking time to share your expertise and time with us so we can get it right the first time. Thank You Sir!
I am going to use that line... I would love to see the confused look on Scooters face LOL. THanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video.
Great tips. Very clean results. Those green manjamas were awesome 😃. I like to use to use that adapter piece (Reflector Nozzle) that fits on the end of the heat gun to concentrate the hot air on the splice, it also helps to save you from toasting adjacent wires or overheating the insulation on the wires you are splicing. I couldn't tell if your heat shrink was marine grade , I use the marine stuff it has a built in sealer. See you on the next one!
The care bear onsie is awesome! LOL
I forgot to order some marine heat shrink, so I just used the regular stuff since the rest of the connectors had the sealer in it.
I just bought my first boat ever (16ft v bottom Jon boat) just something to take the kids out fishing on and I’d have to say out of these boat wiring videos this is one of the best ones!! Keep up the great content!! **Subscribed**
Thank you Dan, glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate you watching.
Excellent video! I’ve watched about 5 already and this makes the most sense for my boat! Thank you
Awesome, glad you enjoyed the video.
This is hands down the best video out there for anyone looking to tackle their own electrical overhaul
Thanks bud, glad you enjoyed it.
Hey man, I am almost finished with my 1972 Monarch 14 footer. I watched your videos cuz you do a great job explaining how it. I just have to hook up battery switch and switch panel. I would send a couple of pictures if I can figure it out, thanks for all your videos they gave me the convenience I needed. By the way I hooked my navigation lights up right the first time. LOL.
Glad I could help
One of the best informative boat wiring videos I've ever seen!
THANKS for explaining everything you did instead of glossing over stuff!
NOT EVERYONE is a professional electrician!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and learned something. I try to make it easy for people to understand.
Fantastic job explaining the electrical elements of a little build. The mansplainer rant was a bonus. I am rebuilding my 12 ft v-hull once again. This time, to get it lighter and easier to load/unload, I am trying to make everything in the boat removable. I have more time than I have back strength and my favorite boat launch does not allow trailers.
As my friend would say, "You are an idiot!" That is his highest compliment in evaluating humor. You are funny and also know what you were doing. Great stuff.
Well done! Finally someone who parallel connects two 12 volt batteries correctly.
Thanks Patrik
Hey, mind telling me what gauge wire you’d recommend using for paralleling the two batteries? Thanks
@@davidgodfrey7560 I would just take the same gauge that comes to/from the batteries.
Great video. I’m doing boat wiring and just bought marine wire because of your your advise. Thanks man
Glad I could help, you will be happy with marine wire, I am glad I spent the extra money on it. Peace of mind
Great work, all looks very professional and very clearly explained. I would have put each sump pump on it's own fuse not wired together. This way if one sump blows a fuse you will still have the other. This may not be necessary but, gives an extra layer of safety. Thanks for posting such a pro video.
Perfect timing Im currently doing my wiring very helpful thank you!
Glad I could help, thanks for watching
Yeah, I’ve got some wiring projects in my future too. Thank you Send it!
Love the kiss methods, Love Haters Corner. Keep up the good work.
Thanks to your video…I completely rewired my entire boat for a 24 volt trolling motor, front and back lights hooked up to the circuit breaker and toggle switch panel. Thanks for the vid!!
Great video! I have 30-year-old marine wire on my old boat, it still works.
The previous owner did all the Chartplotter wiring with normal wires, 2 years later it all failed and roasted the Chartplotter.
Always use marine-grade electrical components and wiring.
Thanks for sharing, I try to tell people all the time that marine grade is worth it.
Most comprehensive Video I have seen, very neat and very professional work. Thank You
Thank you Len, glad you enjoyed the video.
I stumbled on your channel yesterday. My wife and I watched a few of em. Wasn't looking for boat stuff at all. Spent a few years of my life building boats and jet ski's for a couple of companies though, so I can relate a bit. My wife flat out said "Is he your long lost brother or something because you two act exactly the same". I'm not aware of any long lost brothers but she made a damn good point. I cannot wait to get in here and hurt the scooters feelings. Time to start browsing comments.
LOL, we could be long lost brothers! Hurt them scooters feelings all you want.... they need a hug LMAO. Thanks for watching.
I was just browsing through RUclips looking at different boat wiring videos then I saw the "Reserved for LSU" sign on your wall... Instant Subscription. Very informative video also...
Awesome video man, literally watching it as I wire my boat so I don't screw up lol first time wiring anything 😂 thank you again, this was huge amounts of help
Glad I could help, good luck with your wiring, hope you enjoyed the video.
Absolutely the best help video I've seen. Wasn't sure what I would find when I searched. Spot on and easy to follow. Thanks for the laugh as well. Got to love them Scooter's.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it.
I just came across this vid and found it to be easier to understand than pretty much all the other vids out there and your Scooter comments at the end are are great touch, very entertaining 🍻👍
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
The explanation of the switch panel was just what I needed. Great job!
Truly appreciate this info.. doing up my mini jet boat and needed this primer.
Glad I could help. Jet boats are fun!
Just found your videos since im getting into jon boats keep em up very helpful and you make it fun and easy. Love the tin can sign behind you in some clips as well 👍
Thanks Aubrey, glad you like the video.
This guy rocks and is hilarious 😂😂 fantastic video, thank you! 🤜🤛
Thank you, appreciate you watching the video.
Great starter video. Thank you. Just re wiring my aluminium boat with same switch panel. Keep up the good work - from Australia !!
Best boat wiring vid on RUclips. Thanks so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Great play by play explanation! I'm building a boat and your example will help me out a lot.
Best video I’ve found on boat wiring!! Thank you!!
Great thank you so much for sharing I really needed this video I was just about to install mine.. it's saved me a lot of confusion. be well rob...🎉🎉🎉
Glad I could help. Appreciate you watching the video.
Thanks for putting me on the solder wire connector game!! These things are awesome!!
You did a great job and the advice given is A grade, as someone who does a bit of automotive / marine wiring / instrument wiring.
The only thing I generally do differently and its just a me thing.. I'll use glue lined heat shrink, liquid electrical tape (LET) and dielectric grease.
If i cant use a glue lined piece of heat shrink ill paint the cable with the LET and slide the shrink over when it goes tacky. If its a solder joint with no glue lined ill put dielectric grease over the joint, then LET and then the non glue lined shrink.
Ill also grease all terminals I am connecting (even auto plugs) to reduce the corrosion chance between the metals...
Nothing worse than going to remove a panel or fix a term and everything has corroded together.
on a side note and amazingly enough...When you were talking about the grounding to hull.
I wired my mates Stacer Seamaster 519 last year and was horrified to find that they do a negative hull set up with a stud welded next to the battery and under the console.
I questioned Stacer and got told because the engine (Yamaha F115) has a sacrificial anode in the engine and a second one on the trim plate the hull wont become an anode.
We only run in brackish and salt water... the hull is showing signs of minor anode corrosion where the coating has been worn away with the beach landings we have done... Go figure
Keep it up, love the channel
Thanks for explaining about car wire and the difference of boat wire.
Glad I could help
This is the best video I’ve seen to explain wiring a jon boat.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.
Man I was going to start wiring my boat today and after watching your video I’m completely rethinking my wiring plans haha.
You can do it! It is much easier than it looks.
Great video! Gonna wire my jon boat soon, this definitely helped out!
Glad I could help, appreciate you watching the video.
Very much enjoyed the scooter section, thanks for the wiring info as well.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching.
Great video, can't wait to see what else you do to the boat.
I got some cool plans for it, about to get started soon as I finish the speed test video that I am working on now.
Great info. Thanks fir explaining the difference between marine wire and automotive wire. All this time I thought I was just being ripped off. I really like the battery disconnect switch: I need it install one on my duck boat.
I thought the same thing for years until I actually researched it, and then experienced some wire issues myself from using automotive wire.
The battery disconnect is awesome, and not expensive either.
@@SendItJonBoats yea man thanks fir this video I enjoyed the information. Not to be a scooter but thanks fir everything you’ve taught me here. Fir the first time I actually understand how to wire up everything fir my boat. Fir the record I think ur boat is awesome it’s a perfect boat fir gettin out on the water and fir havin a good time. I think I speak fir everyone when I say this keep up the good content.
Great work mate. I'm about to dive into understanding 12v boat electrics and need to wire in some bilge pumps. Nice skills on the best way to connect and heat shrink.enjoy the 🍺
Glad to help
Very good detail! While also being very entertaining! Perfect!
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video.
Fantastic job. Best video on wiring I have seen
Great job and thanks for the tutorial. Love the bite back at the keyboard genius haters! Haterade.....classic!
Got to give the haters some love... they need all they can get.
Thank you very much sir, exactly what I was looking for. Very well made instructions and thoughtful for newbies.
Great video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks d r. Glad you enjoyed it.
dude such a great video, im in the middle of a project and this is exactly what i needed man!!!!
Glad I could help!
Dude you are the best!! Love that you are partnered with the jon yacht too 👌
Yes sir, good people and they make good stuff! Thanks for watching
Hilarious dude, so much respect. Just inherited a boat dad had taken apart to re-wire, rn I’m working on my license.
Nice, good luck with the wiring, I hope the video helped some.
Love the T Shirt!!! LOL Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I got a few new funny shirts for the channel, need to bust them out soon! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video.
This is such a helpful video, thank you brotha.
Two years later this motor is going strong ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite
No complaints from me, work fine.
try the kill switch connected to the ignition.
I understood this wiring video better than any of the other videos I’ve watched
Thank you for the video scooter can take a hike
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching.
Great vid. Thanks for taking the time to break it down.
Glad it was helpful!
This video is the one that does it best, even tb nation and Anthony’s videos all bring a confusion aspect to it all
This is through and through understandable and great work
Thank you so much, I am glad you liked the video. I try to keep things simple and easy for people.
Hi just started building my own boat and with your video's give me lot of tips how to do things.
Thanks and keep it up .
Great to hear! Appreciate you watching.
Your boat is going to suck
@@kevintidwell7156 that is very nice of you lol thanks
you rock scooter. i'm hooked. love your electrical wiring for me (beginners) loved the scooter ending
Thank you!
Fine job on the wiring. Agree with the statement about NOT grounding the electrical thru the hull but it has nothing to do with electrolysis, if any of your hot wires rub thru the insulation then you have a direct short with a potential for a fire if no circuit protection. Seen it happen.
Thats a great point too. Thanks for watching.
My kid of guys here about time someone smart got on RUclips telling folks who's boss thanks bud keep up the hard work I love it
LOL thanks Shane. Glad you like the videos
Great video, made it to Haters corner - Subscribed. Thanks to all the Scooters.
Welcome aboard! Glad you enjoyed it, appreciate you watching.
Awesome video. Remodeling my 1992 Crestline John boat. It was wired wrong with grounds to the boat. Thanks for the info!
Oh no, them boat grounds are terrible for the aluminum. Glad you caught it so you can fix it.
Thank you for sharing!
Excellent video. Very well explained. Thank you.
Cool informative video. Time to put it to action!
Thanks Marc, appreciate you watching!
Great video. Very straightforward!
Thank you, Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved your wiring video, very informative ,and love the cookie keep them coming and till heck with the scooters
Awesome video! I have never messed with this kind of project before. Im not bitching! You taught me something and my kid thinks Im a genius. Thank You
Always nice to have your kids believe that you are a genius!
Even we are manufacture of bilge pumps, learned more from this great video
Awesome thanks for watching.
Love your content bro keep it going
Hahaha! Haterade(sorry for the spelling)! Brilliant and way to tackle haters. Rest of the vid is super, I learned a lot.
LOL thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it
Love the scooter responses best!!!!
Seriously good info
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
Thank you. Well presented.
Big love from the UK. Great helpful video. The haters section was amazing. I’m crying lol 😂
well hello from across the pond! Thanks for checking out the video!
Extremely helpful. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it, appreciate you watching.
Nicely explained, cheers mate from Australia 👍
Thank you, appreciate you watching all the way from across the pond.
Imo this is the perfect layout for a Jon boat on RUclips I’ve seen
I came here to double check my work, but just needed to say your intro is great, had me not skip to the wiring part... that says a lot.
Gotta be a Marine. From the crayon references to the range reference in “send it”. Love it! Keep pushin bro. Comments can pound sand
Jon boats are so easy to rewire. I’m jealous as hell. I have to cut multiple access holes and buy inspection hatches just to find the wires in my old foam filled center console Henry O
Ughh that sucks cutting access holes. Jon boats are so easy.
Awesome work brother..👏👏well done.
Thank you so much 😀
I enjoyed this I’m 82 years old and I still don’t understand it but I learned a lot thank you for your time in trouble they’ll
All the info you taught in this video, I already knew/have learned. The jokes kept me watching, and the Scooters Corner segment made me sub. Lmao This is awesome.
LOL, Thanks for the sub, glad you enjoyed the video.
I’m 53 years old. For years I’ve used a lighter on shrink tubing with mixed results. Since my viewing of this video I’m now a owner of a new heat gun! My pragmatic side once to say thanks. My ego once to tell you something else! You’ve taught an old dog……..thanks
I love my heat gun, so much better than burning my thumb on a lighter like I did for years.
First time watching your videos your wiring was a quality job, wire runs were super neat.🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video.
I don’t really sub to people on RUclips, but you earned one today. This video is a huge help to wire up my future ex Jon boat. Not only was it informative I am SO glad I stayed for haters corner. I laughed harder at the see cashier comment than I rightfully should have. The moose comment was one hell of an escalation lol Great video!
LMAO, thanks for watching. GLad to have you as a sub. More videos coming soon.
Well sir you just got a new subscriber 😂 love it. Keep it up. haters gonna hate!
Looks great nice work!
Thank you for watching. Glad you liked it.
Great video brother just bought a 1978 yazoo 14 36 jon boat got you got some great info be safe God bless 🇺🇲 Send it!🇺🇸
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video.
thanks so much this helps a lot!
Just went from no clue to feeling pretty confident wiring my boat. Much more simple then I was making it out too be in my head. Excellent tutorial, easy to follow, very thorough. Liked and subscribed
Glad I could help. It really isn't that hard, but people get it in their brains that it is difficult and it scares them away from doing their own wiring... what the worst that could happen? Boat catches on fire and explodes? LOL
This is awesome !
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Great tips ! THANK YOU
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Love the Content!
Thank you. Appreciate you watching.
Always enjoy the scooter summary
Awesome, thanks for watching.
One of the best tutorials I've seen 👌 thanks mate
Glad it helped, appreciate you watching.
