I notice that when i go to homedepot with everything speacily paint so much different paints it can be confusing to even learn witch one to get . Paint can be simple like a three in one prime paint and sealer or even with sand papar they should have a multi sand like different varieties of sand paper grit all in one but they want to sell u more its just a big business to keep us confuse like the brands they sell online proably on Amazon u can get different sand papers all in one like a 80 grit 150 320 ect ect to sand down a car even with with wall compond theres a all purpose compond for indoor or outdoor but they probably dont sell it at there store
Great video Darren. Over the years it has been all I could do to not get sucked into the rabbit hole of products. I use two brands, and that’s it. The all in ones are perfect for me and my customer’s needs and expectations. 99 percent of them just want their vehicle to look better than it did before I started, and that is what I deliver. SIMPLE. Thanks for confirming to me that I am on the right track.
You are definitely on the right track! Most "detailers" and customers do not have an overly trained eye to appreciate the fine art and craftsmanship of paint correction. Just as most customers do not want to pay for that level of "perfection". Therefore, you don't have to overthink things in many ways.
Darren you state several times and lots of your videos that you ramble too much well adding in probably 10 minutes of over the hill sarcasm totally turn me off to this video. And I'm a long time watcher, yet. It's the first time I got to give you a one (1)star on this one. What was the final product that you liked some ceramic product.
Always great perspective and real world advice from you, Darren. Long time watcher here, and satisfied/helped once again. Thanks and love the entertainment angle on this vid, too!
I noticed this when you came out with CSI and 3D came out with 3D one .( Pad dependent) Scott from Dallas paint correction had a video with GG complete compound . He said you could use it for polishing just change the pad and watch what happens. So I tried this with D 300 started with microfiber pad cutting pad. And then orange medium cut pad and then black finishing pad and it worked. I haven’t tried CSI yet I’m going to soon I hope you stepped into a excellent product. And THANK YOU!!👍🏼👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🇺🇸
All valid points. Any product (compound or polish) can be finessed simply by changing the pad. Just as you can finesse the abilities by using a rotary versus a DA buffer. Lots of moving parts. Ceram-X just reduces the moving parts dramatically by not having to figure out which compound to start with, or which polish to end with.
@@autofetishdetail thanks for the info I appreciate it. I just bought a 2017 suburban. I want to do a one step or 2 step correction . I’ll see how it comes out with one step and I’ll take it from there thanks Darren. Do you favor a certain ceramic coating or not really?
Great job Darren. You have captured perfectly the big difference between CSI and all other products for polishing paint. Like WHY does it have to be so difficult? It’s not brain surgery. I just want to polish all the defects in my paint job and move on. Perfect job Darren!
I can now explain to my customers the difference between Polish and Compound. They sometimes ask why is Ceram-X different and I can use product to polish and compound! Not as simple as Wax on and Wax off!! Eureka I got it!
This is why I stick with 3M products. They literally tell you what the product is intended for and for and what scenario to use it in. Straight up with no BS. 3M really is one of the few good companies out there.
I have such a fkn headache now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do it again and make it simple for me. Which is best to compound out stuff with and will it polish too or do I need polish. I am seeing stars from my migraine. Gramps
Warning ⚠️ this video can cause brain damage due to all the confusion. You have been warned. Just kidding Darren, another great video to educate the masses.
lol.great video again buddy. it's funny these companies need 2 follow csi since new clear coat is softer and less than min needed 2 protect clear coat. b well good friend
I am actually not after a bright, eye searing shine. I have a 99 tahoe and a 05 magnum that are as much family as something mechanical can be. I am trying to preserve the factory paint as long as possible or at least 3 more yrs till the youngest is out of college. I have a G9 and am using Griots products with it. I have always used Mcguires products but at a childlike level. Hopefully I can get some knowledge on what actually to use. Thank u for the vid!
Sometimes an all-in-one won‘t create the finish I need. An all-in-one is a compromise, just like everything in the detailing industry. As you say, not all paints are created equal and not every scratch is created equal. That‘s why an AIO does not suffice in your arsenal. It‘s true that the labeling is kinda odd, but manufacturers think that they have to stand out by adding as much terms as possible. As I said, some defects need a small correction, some need more and some need the hard stuff. Sometimes an all in one would be too weak and sometimes it would be too aggressive. But in general AIO do the job for medium to fine defects. But the video was very entertaining tbh Kind regards and keep up the good work👍🏽
You make great points! The reality is that an all-in-one would work for most detailers and most customers. Very few people have a truly trained eye. Human nature dictates that we all want easy and cheap. But EVERYTHING has trade-off's as you indicate.
@@autofetishdetail True, we have to separate between the results we‘re trying to achieve. Detailers who charge $1000+ for a 50h-Detail will try to bring it up to 98% perfection whereas „normal“ people will accept the limitations of an AIO-Product considering the amount of work and time it saves you.
As an English teacher I find this extremely humorous! How about the _I've never done this before and am too broke for a DA polisher_ hand compound and hand polish? Seriously, I need product recommendations!
A year too late maybe; but for working by hand; the first two products he had in his hands during this video are great; Meguiar's ultimate compound followed by Meguiar's ultimate polish will satisfy most folk that would like to work by hand; please note that you need to treat the project as a marathon and not a sprint; you can't finish the car in one day; not by hand. Work only a panel or two; stop when you and your arms get tired; come back next day or whenever next possible. For the compound, get yourself a microfiber polishing/applicator pad off Amazon; you'll get much more cut from the microfiber than those small round foam sponges one usually sees in the detailing world. For the polishing step, foam is the better choice to arrive at that final refined glossy finish. Look for the brilliant Sonax applicator foam pad; much bigger and easier to use than those small round foam pads I mentioned. Sorry for the long read but I love to work by hand once in a while and love to share my learning/experiences with those who might be looking for it. Best of luck and happy detailing👍
Darren, first off I ordered the Ceram-x and was wondering how is it and how would you say it differs from 3D One which I hate and find wipe off trash and grabby
3D One is exactly part of my prediction: Every compound and polish manufacturer will eventually have their own version of a Single Product Polish. The 3D One is their version. Every other manufacture will be required to follow in line since most people who are serious about polishing, will embrace the simplicity of a Single Product Polish. The distinctions between ONE and Ceram-X could be as basic as CSi not just the original, but has NEVER played both sides of the fence in trying to sell multiple products (compounds/polishes) to get from point A to point B.
@@autofetishdetail awesome info sir! Would you say the Ceram-x is better then 3D and how’s it wipe off compared to 3D ? Also I’ll be using it with a DA is that an issue?
since I stared to use csi, I have found out that I gone have some truble on detailing forums. I am in..when they ask for these things...as always comes up 4 times a week. I can saythat they need csi. some pads. wool pad. and some few waxes. and a ok good macine. not a lot. then..the others will go against me and tell this poor guy that he need a lot more and 3 times as many product. and I will soon be kiked out.....
You are not alone in getting this kind of push-back. There are endless people who speak form ignorance, lack of experience, or enjoy complicating their lives. Ultimately I want results. I am not looking for flashy packaging, complexity with multiple products, or photo-op moments (in the form of multiple products with hyped up labeling and flashy packaging) to use on social media. I just want reliable results, in a very simple manner.
4th from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷 Darren, also you have those that are polish and seal and those with fillings platelets and stuff. Also the slow correcting cream are all the others because there is a fast correcting cream 😉😃
You didnt explain anything you just make kore confusion. I think that you dont know what are you saying. Just watch and listen your own video and you wil get confused more then we are.
Both were originally used before automobiles. Parkway referred to a path or road through a park where people could ride their horse & carriage or wagon if they didn't feel like walking. A driveway was a path or road that ran alongside a barn where wagons would drop off or pick up hay or livestock. Driveway referred to what the path or road was for, driving. Parkway referred to where the path or road was, in a park. LMAO
Too much rambling & adding more confusion, rather than getting to the point.
Yes, I watched the entire video and I left even more confused. Lol
Simplicity is what's needed Darren

It’s either compound or polish, you can adjust the cut with both products depending on pad and machine.
Very simple everyone. Get CSI and don't look back. That simple. Don't overthink it, just do it Nike
I would encourage everyone to check out Darren’s write up on this website as well. Good stuff.

I exited the video because you talk too much and don’t show what we came here to see
It's hard to listen. But believe us. Just stop and go on to another video. This here is long and repetitive.
Brain is officially fried! with NO direct answer
Awesome!!
Sounds like a commercial. Yes of course it is a commercial mate......your trying to sell your own product which you have invested interest in.
Darren, you are a top man, great video! What about Angelwax Enigma All-In-One? It's advertised as a 'Ceramic-Infused Hybrid Compound'.
Very simple. Just get 3M Rubbing compound and the polish. Forget about the other brands.
wow what a headache. I think your the one that is aiding in confusion.
Can you demonstrate why this product is the solution over all the others ?
I'm a doubter on short cuts! Simple almost always equals to, too good to be true. Sorry!!! Still thumbs up for the video.

Get high and watch this lol
If ken was a detailer and didn’t marry Barbie because he was nice
So... do polish and compound have preferred pronouns? What about ‘ze too’ pro showcar polish?
