Compound and polish are really determined by what paint you have (hard or soft). For hard paints, CarPro clearcut is your best choice for a one step. For softer paints, the Griots line is your best route. Also, when doing a correction, 3-4 dime size drops is all you need. But make sure you wear a light on your head to see when the swirls are gone. You can look through the compound as its breaking down. Going up and down makes nice designs but you want to keep going until the swirls are gone. If you want a line of products that will handle any paint you come across, CarPro ClearCut, Essence, Fixer and Reflect. Cant go wrong!

@@poppaluv simple. Single stage paint will bleed when you polish it, because there is no clearcoat on it so the paint comes off on the pad. Your year is single stage. For hard paint, a more aggressive pad and compound is needed whereas on soft, a light polish may cut. Always go least aggressive first.

    A) I wash,
    B)I clay- with
    Mothers SpeedClay 2.0
C)I polish- but I dont use a full polish product. I use a Ryobi 6 inch 18V orbital buffer which I own a cordless model & a corded one.
My Polish of choice is Mothers Micro-Polishing Glaze (Step 2).
Then, D) my favorite final product is Meguiars Hi-Tech Yellow Wax (#26).
    If you Clay with anything.
    Use Mothers Step 2.

You will have a super smooth, shiny vehicle.

A great "2-step" compound/polish is Menzerna IP 2000. I used it on my black 300C; and it really cut down the amount of time that I used to take in working out swirls. I applied it with a Griots Garage DA random orbital polisher and Lake Country pads. Afterward, the Menzerna, you can either apply a fine polish, before going to the wax finish, or go straight to the wax finish. It depends on what results you're looking for.

Sonax is my favorite line of polishes. The cutmax is amazing for heavy defects. The Sonax 04-06 is like perfect finish but 04-06 is made specifically for DA polishers and perfect finish is made for rotary but they both work great on either machine. For really hard paint the best is the Rupes UHS polish and pad combo hands down. You want to be careful using a tape line for a 50/50 because it can create a hard line in the paint that can be difficult to remove. Some polishes will be less effective when used with a detail spray because they were formulated to work without any other chemicals. Some clay bars will break down faster if a soap is used as a lubricant. Detail spray does not get the paint perfectly clean because they contain polymers such as gloss enhancers and lubricants. IPA solution or a paint prep spray is best. I have a youtube channel where I talk about some of this stuff, hopefully it will help you get better results but it looks like you got pretty good results anyway! Cheers!

    Polishes:
Retail: Meg's ultimate compound is closer to a professional polish. Breaks down nicely and doesn't really need a follow-up with polish. Will remove some scratches nicely and leave a great finish. Ultimate polish is good too if you just want to enhance the look.
    "Professional":
3d one is both a compound and polish. With heavier cut pad will cut alot and act like a compound. With a Polish or finish pad it will act like a polish. Finishes great.
Griot's garage correcting cream. Not as aggressive as the fast correcting cream and with a orange pad will leave a beautiful finish. Their entire line is awesome.
Meguiars m210 is a great polish and less dusting and longer work times than the 205. Good price for amount you get too.
Meguiars d300 is great too. Intended for microfiber pads but will work with foam and not too aggressive when used with foam pad.
Jescar has some good stuff too. I love their correcting compound but it's aggressive so not really what you're asking for.
To be honest though, for beginners I always recommend meguiars ultimate compound and polish. They are "safer" dumbed down versions of their professional line. The compound would have knocked out what you were working on on this car in one section pass of 5 passes. More pressure for first two passes, then less and less over next three. The abrasives break down after first two passes, then the next three passes polish more and more as you let up pressure each pass until the third (5th total) pass is just weight of polisher
Use either their "cutting" yellow pad or an orange medium cut pad (or whatever color for your brand) or even a polishing pad and shouldn't need anything more.

Polishing uses abrasive products to remove imperfections from your paint. Waxing adds the shine to the exterior of your vehicle, as well as, a layer of protection from the elements. Ultimately, polishing prepares the car to be waxed.

I have a few little tips I've picked up that have really helped. First is just a suggestion I wish I'd done: test on a not so nice car before trying on your really nice car. My first was the trunk lid of my nice bmw and in retrospect is was scary. But I was lucky. Other tips: on first use of the pad work the polish into the pad by hand to "prime" it. After every few sections, blow the pad out to get any picked up grit out. And for me if I took too long to get the polish off the car it was a nightmare to get off so get it off quick (I use Meguiars so maybe that's a quirk of theirs).

    One step polishing..
Meguiar's Ultimate Polish on green Buff and Shine pads works great. Nice cut, great finish, super easy wipe off. I start with three pea sized drops, and reload with one or two.
The other one step I really like is found in the Rupes system:
    Keramik Gloss + Yellow microfiber
    Quarz Gloss + Yellow foam
    Quarz Gloss + Green Foam
    UHS + Grey foam

Detail spray is only adding a layer of protection to the swirls your trying to remove. Can’t stress enough how much panel prep is needed in this process. Specially after clay bar process and in between polishing/compound passes using non filler agents. If the compound/polish has fillers in it you don’t want to use panel prep because it will remove what your trying to fill in. Just some info for the garage guys🤙

Haven’t gotten into polishers yet, but I’ve recently discovered clay, spray detailer, and I’ve been using mothers cmaligornia gold wax for years. Truck after a week of vacation and many hours in my driveway, she looks a hell of a lot better than she did even a year ago when I took receipt of it.

God bless you. I used to do this job and made a ton of money. I quit after a few years because it's not for everyone. Exterior detailing is not= to Interior detailing. If you have the stomach to do Interiors.... you have bigger balls than those resting in front of Target Stores because some people are NASTY AS F!!!!! I'VE SEEN IT ALL FROM DEAD CATS TO PUKE CAKED ON CARPET FOR YEARS COOKING IN THE HOT SUN TO EVEN OLD USED UP TAMPONS KEPT IN JARS!!!!! I'll never do Interiors ever again.

You used to much product. 3 or 4 drops of Sonax is all what you need. Sonax is not my first choice for a job like you did. The result would be better with Griot's perfecting cream in the Boss system or Mckee 360. They both do a fantastic job. By the way Griot is a lot cheaper than Sonax. The review on Sona x are not that good. Next time try using a orange or white pad with your sonax cream it will remove more swirls and scratches and it will finish well too. I learned a lot with many years of experience and working on different cars. By the way very good video and keep up the good work. What I wrote is not complaining but just try to make your life easier.

A Rupes Mille forced rotation will blow your mind and is still safe. You drive a nice car and bought a harbor freight crap machine lol. I started with a porter cable but DA sucks. It stops spinning on anything not flat. The forced rotation keeps going allowing you to edge and get into areas not possible with a 5 inch DA.

But a real claybar. Do NOT use dishwashing detergent for any purpose on the vehicle. The only time dish detergent should be anywhere near the vehicle is transporting from store to
Home. I agree with keeping the claybar lines and wet but either use a dedicated claybar lube or the quick detail spray.

You might find it better to use isopropyl alcohol rather that qd as most if not all qd's have gloss enhancers so wont work to remove fillers and oils rather add to them.. ipa would remove all the oils and leave it ready for a lsp

Try using Sonax glass cleaner as a lubricant. It is very foamy, has a long working time and has alcohol in it and it leaves the surface clean/prepped. It eliminates the prep spray step. I use Meguiars Pait Reconditioning Creme or 3D One. However, if I have to use two products I will just use Sonax EX 04-06 followed by Surf City Garage Barrier Reef wax or Natural Brilliance Liquid Souveran wax.
