I've lived in South Manchester and North Manchester and I've never felt threatened walking through the Moss or Longsight, Levvy as much as in the big estates in Northside like Collyhurst,Miles Platting, Ancoats or Oldham. Can't believe how much its changed since this was released? Like most places the world over, you go there showing no respect and taking the piss you'll find trouble? Fucking hell I miss Maine Road!! Used to love looking at away fans faces coming out of the ground thinking which way was it again to the station!!!!
I was born in Rochdale and although I moved to London when I was a kid because my Dad got a job down there, I still had family in Rochdale and used to visit Manchester quite regularly. I could slowly see the changes in the place throughout the years. I would mainly visit the city centre and go and watch United. The area around Old Trafford has totally changed now compared to when I first started going in the early 1980’s. Most places are gentrified nowadays.
This shop keeper won the lottery in the 90’s ( probably stole a customer’s lottery ticket ) he abandoned the shop full of products and everybody cleaned it out - true story
Good upload cheers matey I enjoyed that trip down memory lane I remember all this going on at the time it's changed a lot round moss side & hulme since them days init!
@@theylietoyouall.5051 New Labour took power in 97 I think. Definitely right about the 70s and 80s being grim. I left school in 82, no expectation of a job. Heard too many stories about lads going for interviews against 300 other applicants, then topping themselves after a couple of years of that!😟. It was a case of duck and dive, actually a very enjoyable time!😁😂🤣
I’m from London and I was in a competing in a sound clash with Top Shotta and because I was winning some little punk pulled a strap on me but some big area leader called Owin put a stop to it. Big up Top Shotta and Owin.
yeah im from manchester i remember when its was bad down hulme, moss side and rusholme its not as bad anymore round there i think the worst places in manchester now is like gorton, openshaw and wythenshaw. but yeah i love manchester best city in this country hands down...!!
I know mate. My dad an nana uncles an aunties grew up and still live on maine rd and claremont rd. Ive got some top photo's from the 30s onwards of claremont and city's ground, its mad seeing how much its changed.
our history is soaked in blood,,, but we must not soak our present in blood.. like i said..i dont know a legal solution to all this.. looks like the drugs problem has made it very bad to live there.
Have just read your post. Would you like to come to the Youth Charter HQ in Salford? We are doing a 21 review of what has changed in then lives of young people in Manchester. Please see link to our work( www.youthcharter.co.uk.) This work has all been inspired by the tragedy of Benji. I hope to hear from you. Regards. Geoff Thompson
Jamie Davies A long time since I've visited the 'Moss' but I think it's a lot safer than it was. There are places close by where I think there might be Kurdish/Somali gangs, which are more recent(not on the same scale as London). Turks, we've had for a while(I think crime not gang), not heard much about Romanians though.
This documentary was from 1992 i think crime in Manchester has dropped massively in the past 12 years its quite but places in Manchester are bad like gorton, hulme etc. Mosside is still bad for death and drugs but not like this
that's rich coming from ancestors of cavemen... rather come from a jungle than a cave full of masters of buggery..

Dennis Brown The Prince!
Gotta love manny. There is crime everywhere. It aint that bad now.
true so are most of Glasgows gangs and a lot of the Liverpool ones are too
How old is this documentary, and has gang culture changed much in Manchester, now?
Yepp there are basically close to no gangs
Really? No mosside, no gooch, no doddington. Police all set for their holiday's. Manchester to police itself! Result.
@@bearbee1891hahahahaha yea right
there is a way to clean up all the gangs forever..but its so drastic and criminal it will never be put into action.
