This man over the last few days of me binge watching has educated me beyond belief how community's are struggling,we become insular and think we are alone on our journey,this filming should be made into documentary for mainstream TV,and he should be awarded and recognised as the people's film maker. This is my area, whether you're from Manchester or Liverpool the respective councils have destroyed the working classes. They've shut everything down we loved and have also destroyed our communities.
Our Moss Side and Hulme have changed a lot since I was a child. They have knocked down a lot of buildings and flats. Redisigned the whole areas. Lock down a lot of pubs. It is very hard to say where Moss Side is nowadays. Despite our up and down reputations over the years, Moss Side and our surrounding areas will always carry a good sense of pride. Big up and one love. 💚💛❤️🤜🏿🤛🏻
I can remember seeing an old lady getting her bag snatched by a young black lad after a Man city game. Coppers everywhere escorting Leeds fans in 1985. Yet they missed this because it was the other side of the road from us. The old woman must have been heart broken to see what had happened to her community.
Believe it or not but Moss Side and Old Trafford etc was where the wealthiest of Manchester used to live up until the 1940's. In the Victorian times it's where all the business owners would buy their houses . Used to be so immaculate and pristine, rows and rows of huge Victorian and Georgian houses
Even in the most deprived areas you will find decent people, and they deserve respect for doing their best to make life better for in difficult situations and times. Respect ✊ xx
Used to go to house parties in Moss Side in the 1980s. Black and white mixing, Jamaican rum, reggae music and never any trouble. You mixed in the wrong circles it comes back and bites you. The majority of the community were law abiding. Had plenty a snog from black girls! Great times!

It's strange that in the early 1990s the media used to show Hulme a lot and say it was Moss Side because it looked 10 times worse and like the Bronx (to give a dramatic effect!) All knocked down though.
Used to score in the Moss early to mid 80s ..Moss side precinct now demolished ..Great Western pub .. dozens of lads would surround you shoving bags and wraps at you..well before mobile phones.. gunshots ringing out in the background..crazy times
Longsight was worse. I lived in Manchester in late 90s, mosside was only considered dodgy if you were a dealer or in a gang. Longsight was pretty much a no go zone, I lived on the longsight side of rusholm and had mates who lived in longsight, regularly would hear gun shots at night and reports of stabbing in longsight, never heard of any trouble in mosside
As a young man, NOTHING ever really frightened me, UNTIL i became a father, I didn't realise how vulnerable I could be, and that's just with the thought of what could happen, so I also know, that there but for the grace of mercy go I, it's the one thing I don't think I could handle, loosing me mam was hard but it was the natural progression of things, but outliving your kids isn't, I hope she can find peace Miss M. ✌️

My sister was 42 when she passed,18 years ago, and my nephew was 39, 2 years ago, but on a happier note I'm 51 today, wahey.💙.
As a manc I've worked in Liverpool and been treated great. Put all football shite aside..there's no two other cities in England that share the similarities like Liverpool & Manchester do. Back in the day a 13 yo boy was killed, shot , nothing to do with drugs but he had 40k in the bank. The front page of the local paper shown another 13 yo riding his bike whilst shooting at somebody. Kids have got no chance.
The 90s Hindley days Turbo was away with us and big Mackintosh always young kids coming in from Moss Side slinging shot, or dodging bullets or even biting them!!
