Good morning to you Terry, from an old Cornishman just in from the hooley, after walking-out the long-dogs. It does me good to listen and learn from a man who speaks softly, with wisdom borne from long experience. I am 66 years old. My Dad is 93, Mum was Irish, her line is from West Cork: please God keep after her well. As a hybrid, twixt Kernow ha Iwerdhon, I am still prone to going "whoosh-bang", hence my reference to your deliveries of these sad facts. Conor McGregor chose the wrong path many moons past. He ignored all the 'Yield' posts. Nikita Hand was the inevitable "brick wall". The behaviour of all parties involved was shameful and disgusting. But whatever, Conor Mc Gregor comitted rape and so had to be held accountable in a Courtroom of law. He has been found guilty of rape. A curse be upon him. Goodness knows what other hurt and depravities he is responsible for. God bless.
The comments on her are insane. The group of peers held Conor Mcregor liable for sexual assault yet you have people on here with no legal experience or any knowledge of civil litigation saying it’s a money grab and she’s essentially a slapper. You are undermining the rule of law, based on the evidence the jury were happy to find him liable. It seems most people in the comments don’t even understand how the DPP works. Why did he hire goons to beat up her partner if he’s so innocent?
What I find interesting is when it got taken through the criminal courts where you have to have full clear evidence in a, he said she said case it got thrown out obviously in a civil case the evidence needed is a lot less and the fact you had 8 jurors who were women and 4 men to me because of him being a total belled was destined to be found guilty. Also there is too much inconsistencys with her story especially her behaviour after the alleged rape, if you have been rape and your bruised and battered how then do you sleep with mcregors friend a few hours later and she was caught on cameras kissing him and behaving in a way that makes no sense. I'm not convinced 100% he is guilty. Also you said why did he hire goons to beat up her partner this is another assumption because where is the proof he hired them I didn't hear it mentioned in the court case I didn't hear anything about mcgregor doing that except people assuming without proof. I'm not saying he didn't but where's the evidence. Mcgregor is going to appeal it that's going to be interesting
You know nothing about the psychology of trauma.
She said she didn't engage in sex with Lauwrence. There's to visual, witness or DNA to prove she did.
Highly intoxicated and drugged people dont act rationally.
Jury selection would have been agreed on by both sides of the court.
Historically, witness testimonies have been bought off by those with money and perceived power.
The truth is often stranger than fiction. There's no rule book for sequence of events prior, during or after assault. Traumatic response & masking . Look it up

So, this result may not even not be technically truly justified (to the point I wonder if Hands' partner beat her up after finding out she'd been shagging about!) ...but this level of comeuppance has been coming to Conor for FAR too long now. #context
p.s. Re. the odd guilty verdict? Note, Conor started going up against Ireland's corrupt establishment, so you'd better be squeeky fkin clean not to be taken down by them easily!! ; )

Terry if I’m honest ! During this debacle all I could think of was Nikita’s daughter whom she thanked! Mc Gregor’s kids will be protected due to his massive wealth. This case was just awful and sad . I hope all concerned can now move on from this . Thank you Terry

I’m no CM fan but her behavior on cctv, supposedly after CM assaulted her, is hardly the behavior of someone who has just been through a traumatic event. I smell a shake down here. She either sobered up and had regret about her immoral actions, or she planned this from the start. I may be wrong, but that’s my gut feel.
But how do you dismiss the mountains of evidence that McG is a complete tool

Her team requested 2.8 million in damages.......and its not about the money.
Her legal team, as with every case, have a standard method for calculating damages based on physical, psychological and monetary loss including loss of future earnings. Its up to the jury to then agree on a figure.
Pretty sure she could've settled out of court for vastly more than 2.8 million. As far as I can tell she turned it down in exchange for justice.

Terry, thank you for this. You are a gentleman, and it's much appreciated and apparently needed.
The commentary about Nikita Hand from some has been ugly and cruel, and I think it's a reflection of McGregor's negative influence on people, in particular boys and men who are vulnerable due to their relative youth and other factors. McGregor and his ilk do *not* promote critical thinking. They seem to spend their time bullying people (including each other), mistaking aggression for strength of personality.
Nikita Hand is a hero. She faced untold intimidation, yet she didn't back down. She is the one with strength and integrity, and she's had to fight for six years to get here.
The bros and the morality police need to back down now. Continuing to stand by, and admire and defend, a man like McGregor is truly the wrong path to take in life. Continuing to attack a woman for her choices is in very poor taste; she never chose to be raped or assaulted, that wasn't included in the party package she thought she was agreeing to.
I'd like to highlight that the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has also commented on this, and the statement can be found on their website. I can't post a link, but I've copied and pasted the most relevant sections:
“In the face of great adversity, Nikita Hand held strong to her belief that the truth must be told and acknowledged in court. Today’s verdict will be met with relief by many survivors of sexual violence watching and listening closely to the narrative inside and outside the courtroom.
“Thankfully the jury found in favour of Nikita Hand. But this case and the public commentary around it has also thrown up questions about how some of Irish society views victims of sexual violence. It illustrates that there is still a culture of blame and judgement out there that has no place in a modern society. We need a greater awareness of how trauma affects people differently and accelerated action to change residual negative attitudes around sexual violence.
“Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has seen the profound effect the case has had on the community of people we support. Over the first 10 days of the trial, calls to the National Rape Crisis Helpline increased by almost 20%, with first-time callers increasing by 50% compared to the same period last year. These calls were largely from people who had experienced sexual violence themselves and who expressed distress and anxiety around details of the case and the views of people around them.
“Dublin Rape Crisis Centre has heard from people who say they have witnessed an increase in negative victim-blaming attitudes over the last 2 weeks. Given the epidemic of sexual violence that exists in Ireland and that over half of women will experience some form of it in their lifetime, those attitudes have been picked up by a considerable number of people directly affected by this issue.
“It will take some time to analyse all the issues that have arisen for survivors as a result of this case but when we have, Dublin Rape Crisis Centre intends to bring forward a range of victim-centred recommendations.
"For now though, it is Nikita Hand’s day. All of us at Dublin Rape Crisis Centre wish her and her family the very best as they move on from this together.”
This was a very honest and just commentary.I wish everyone involved and their families deep healing and peace.
I hope mc gregor gets revenge on her legal team.Nikita didn't have the money to pay them,they took it on for free and were the instigators.

You'd have to assume McGregor and his Mrs have an open relationship of sorts, two peasants now worth hundreds of millions, life is a bit different when you're worth that kind of coin, opportunity a plenty and you may as well take advantage of it.
The fact that she was seen smooching on the other guy on CCTV after she was with McGregor should raise red flags and give an indication what this lady's intentions were.

Her female friend/college from the salon Xmas party was in the hotel room at the time of the alleged rape and she knew nothing about the rape. She didn't see anything or hear anything and Hand never contacted her after the incident to see if she could corobate the evidence or discussed it otherwise with her after the incident.

This one is easy. Nikita Hand's friend was simply afraid to take on Ireland's largest sports star in a court of law. McGregor is a rich and powerful businessman and far right advocate with hundreds of thousands of followers online who would easily go and harass anyone who is involved in his prosecution. I for one would personally be afraid that some one of his lunatic followers would break into my house and try to kill me if I was involved in this case or that the prosecution of McGregor in this case

Most of the opinions on this case have been very emotional. Good to see a logical and cool headed take from someone who understands the legal system.
In civil cases where the defendant offers a settlement that amount is "lodged" with the court. Then in a subsequent case if the plantiff is awarded an amount lower than what was lodged then legal costs are awarded against the plaintiff. Therefore if McGregor offered more than the €248,000 she would lose the legal costs estimated at €1,500,000.
Her friend backed conor, cctv backed conor mcgregor.
Also the jury found she lied about the other guy

Go through the court case again, because it seems you missed the argument put to the court by Ms Hand's team that Mr Lawrence was a 'patsy'. Think about what this case would have looked like if he hadn't told Gardai - under caution and with a solicitor - that he also had sex with Nikita.
I think perhaps the DPP would have taken on the case and there would have been a criminal trial. Lawrence muddied the waters with what he told Gardai.
Also, Nikita had no memory of intercourse with the man, meaning if it did take place - as he claims - it was at a time when she was so intoxicated she could not consent. That is rape.
She couldn't leave him our of her civil case when he was alleging consensual sex with Nikita, and he could have been used as a witness against her.

Im not convinced by the narrative in the video.How do we get around the evidence that Danielle Kealy presents about not hearing anything?She was right next door to where the rape was said to have taken place.She heard nothing and is a credible witness.How could she have heard nothing if Nakita was getting a sever beating?How is this "minimalist" evidence as the judge said.Its seems significant.The judge saying this I think might have swayed the Jury away from Danielle Kealy's evidence.I never heard an explanation for why the judge said this but it needs explanation.

You have a point. I think both characters should be asked to place in court - donations of a sizable chunk (💰) towards drug addiction and homelessness, as an indication of the relationship between drug taking, lack of responsibility, and social instability, exhibited by themselves.
Perhaps, this might point them, in the right direction.

she told a lie that got out of hand. She had to go home and face her boyfriend who would have many questions about her lies, bruises and antics. Instead of telling the truth to him she told him she was raped and no more, would not say by who, where or who she was with, refused to go to the poilce, just wanted to go to bed and get on with life. He was having none of it and made her go to the police.....putting into motion a lie that perpetuated. Her name and story spread in the area, people were talking about her, she couldn't face the public in work. This is the only way she could try and change the narrative.
Let's hope the lad Lawrence gets justice too, because the jury found she lied about him. I hope he sues for damages.
Terry, why do you think the jury didn't award any punitive or aggravated damages. 248k won't even pay half of Mr Lawrence's costs.
Fairplay to her, turned down the out of court settlement, went through with the process and got what she wanted. Justice, not money.

What's everyone's opinion on Conor's latest tweets calling the Irish civil court a kangaroo court based on thoughts and feelings? The disrespect he's shown to Nikita and on the stand in evidence and now this? The court, the judge, the whole process. He is an absolute bully.
The sewer that is Twitter is probably where he feels most comfortable. But he had his chance in court. And a jury of his peers did not believe him.

Thank you for the learned insight, this whole affair is a sad reflection on the trappings of wealth and perceived power and how the mighty or "were they" fall. It is a sad state, but no sympathy anymore. Brave women and us lads need to better men.

Judge is to rule on Thursday. Will be interesting as Lawrence does not seem to be like an ordinary defendant insofar as it is alleged he stuck himself into the case as a patsy for McGregor. And McGregor was paying his legal fees. So this is unusual. It will be interesting what the judge does.

I'm Genuinely interested and have no skin in the game. I enjoy your videos and I wonder in this case if all details were the same but Mcgregor wasn't a celebrity would it all have played out differently in a legal sense?
@@knightredbranchmy understanding is the she accused Conor of rape. Conor was arrested and then the next day James arrived at the garda station saying he'd had sex with her too. Nikita testified that she has no memory of this happening so if it did she was way too drunk to consent and it was therefore rape. That's why people are saying he inserted himself into the case to potentially muddy the waters.
Conor didnt want to settle with her cause more leeches would come out of the woodwork.

How can she claim on her speech that justice was served when she’s receiving cash and Connor walks free. Justice is when the attacker goes to prison.
@SunRiseNightFall because in Ireland the DPP prosecute less than 8% of rape cases. This is as close to Justice as she will get in Ireland.
Criminal prosecutor thought the case was trash.
Justice was served in this instance, by a jury of his peers and the public now know what kind of person he is!, That's how!

This is the problem with rape cases. It is incredibly difficult to prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt in these instances.

I've certainly no fondness for mcgregor but leaving all that aside and looking solely at the case it doesnt add up. Whats irrefutable and most compelling is the cctv. Thats one thing that doesnt lie. Plus the evidence of the 2nd woman who said she heard nothing in the adjacent room with the doors open. (This itself is dubious as you'd imagine she would hear something even if the encounter was non physical) . Did she purge out of fear?
Oh havent you heard, CCTV evidence isnt real now if you "FEEL" you didnt do whats on the footage. Nikkita denied she kissed Lawrence in the lift, when confronted with the CCTV of her kissing Lawrence in the lift said the evidence everyone watched with their eyes didnt change her story because "I don't FEEL like I'm wrong because I don't remember any of it."". Oh thats ok then, Its all about feelings, not facts. Ignore what your eyes see on the cctv and just think about her "feelings". She didnt actually kiss him, despite kissing him because she didnt "FEEL" like she did. Fair enough.
Ok but your assuming a settlement was offered and refused, by the same token if mcgregor was convinced he done nothing wrong, maybe he didnt offer to settle because he thought he would be cleared..maybe Nikita could clarify that, assuming an offer cant be covered by an NDA if not accepted...

I am the same. Huge fan at one stage. Absolute cretin he has turned out to be but this evidence against him is shocking. What about her 1st statement?? What happened to the 2 security guards who she accused of rape in that statement? What happened to the statement where she said she ran from the hotel?? She left and hugged McGregors mate and kissed him. How come she can remember everything that's not on cctv and nothing that is?? It is a witch hunt...karma is probably at work here but if he has rated somebody I feel it should be unequivocally proven....this just feels wrong.

1. The accuser first propositioned McGregor, sending him suggestive pictures over social media and volunteering to go to his hotel. Despite this, she claims she had no desire to sleep with him.
2. She left her boyfriend to go see McGregor as part of a multi-day bender, but lied to him about where she was.
3. CCTV showed her kissing and touching both McGregor and his friend -- AFTER McGregor was alleged to have raped her. In fact, she stayed for hours partying and drinking after the alleged assault.
4. She alleged he put her in a choke hold and told her "now you know how I felt in the Octagon where I tapped out three times" -- Really?
5. A couple in the bedroom next door testified against her account of events, they never saw or heard any signs of assault. One of these people that testified this was HER OWN friend and work colleague!
6. One of those people testified that he slept with the woman. She denied this, but it was seemingly corroborated by CCTV footage showing her all over him AFTER the alleged assault. She also sued this man for sexual assault (despite claiming to have no recollection of meeting him), but he was found not guilty by the jury.
7. She claimed to have no memory of the events of the CCTV footage showing her all over the two men, but had a good memory of everything else.
8. She claimed to be out of it at the time of the assault, explaining her lapsed memory, but she was texting lengthy text messages of lies to her boyfriend at the time.
9. For some reason, her boyfriend recorded the conversation with her when she returned home. What does that suggest?
10. The case was thrown out as a criminal case by the Director of Public Prosecutions due to insufficient evidence -- twice. This was a civil case where it does not need to be proved "beyond reasonable doubt", but just found to be more likely than not. The jury was made up of 8 women and 4 men. And lastly, this is NOT a rape conviction, but an award for damages over an assault

You are assuming Conor McGregor tried to settle but you don`t know. Perhaps he is a man who revels in notoriety. If he didn`t, then Nikita Hand would have had to balance a little embarrasment with a potential windfall. If she were shameless, that would not be an issue. All that said, I don`t really like Conor McGregor and I think there was something to her claim and I`m glad she won. But, if someone sues you and you know they are lying, then it is reasonable to say they are only in it for the money. I don`t believe that was the case here.

Settling a case does not make you not guilty of a crime (or guilty of a crime). It just makes the person accusing you go away and be quiet,

I’m pretty sure the finding was that the “other guy” didn’t have sex with her- hence he couldn’t be found guilty of rape. No evidence (dna) was found, unlike McRape-er.
