The problem with his "business model" is he expects quick ideas and quick success, not letting time for ideas to grow, this is why every business idea fails
He has a business that is free to use. Anyone can watch Phil any time and they are not obligated to give him anything. Whatever people give him is out of their generosity. He can claim his business is down, but the reality is he is guaranteed to earn nothing.
Phil has always been on the path of least resistance so of course he never wants to put in actual effort

Phil's "business" and online presence is basically a street performer who only has a hat to gather tips in who asks onlookers and random passerbys what he should perform rather than showing off talent of his own merit.
Imagine minding your own business out on the town and some guy comes up to you at a street corner and asks "Do you want me to juggle? Do you want me to swallow swords? Do you want me to play guitar? What do you want to see me do so you can pay me for doing what you asked?"
No street performer would stoop that low. He's almost becoming a trained animal who's subject to the will of a "master" who MIGHT feed him if he does a trick.

It's worse. Imagine telling the performer you'd like to see some juggling but then he calls you stupid because he's not like those other performers that do the same to make a quick buck, and instead does juggling but with two balls, but even that he does it lazily, and when he fails and you start laughing because he can't even juggle two balls, he gets upset again and says you can't laugh at him, all while still complaining that people aren't giving him money and that he can't continue unless people do it, otherwise he's just going to sit there talking and still expecting money. So you for whatever reason comply and ask him something, but then he says that's a stupid question and he won't answer it while laughing at you. You can only ask him questions like "what did you have for dinner last night?" and little more, he also doesn't have anything interesting to say, not a funny story or he can't riff off what people say. Also, if he sees you talking with someone else, he gets upset because you're not talking to him.

Agreed. He complains about nobody liking JRPGs and then complains there were too many cutscenes in the beginning and it was boring. He would never consider starting the game offline and then creating an edited video that sums up the opening in about 10 minutes. Then, he could start with gameplay. But, that would require effort and Phil's editing skills involve pushing record and stop.
The thing is, he doesn't see videogames as a hobby to do in your spare time. He sees gaming as a job, and as a job he wouldn't "work" (play) for free so he needs to monetize every single second he plays videogames, and in his head that means streaming.

I told you guys that retro react was gonna be a main stay. He had way too much fun watching himself and giggling at his terrible jokes from a decade ago to not keep it around. It was legit the most fun he’s had on steam in months.
And I’m glad it’s happening cuz it’s a testament to the fact that no matter how much he tells you he’s changed, he is the exact same person as he was then. Plus he keeps exposing himself to more criticism and backlash for reposting all of the terrible cringe shit he used to say.
There were moments in the Red Dead react stream when past Phil and present Phil were chortling at the same time, and that makes this point crystal clear
This is a dsp exclusive problem he has no back bone to actually curate his content. Dave is a hypebeast and a feedback demon he relies on the game to entertain his audience.
Dave is obsessed with a schedule and paying top dollar for multiple copies/formats of AAA titles, yet begrudgingly play BG3 despite being gifted it, but he's a successful streamer.
I think it's a sign that he's autistic. I have children on the spectrum and, when something is scheduled, it really screws them up if things don't happen on time. So Phil being so obsessed with a schedule makes sense if he's autistic. Even if it's a schedule of his own making, if it's on a schedule, it can't be changed without causing him great stress.
That's why, when the Comcast situation happened, he couldn't schedule service for "the business" on his day off because he had a haircut appointment. The appointment was scheduled and, if he breaks the schedule, it gives him anxiety almost to the point where it physically hurts him.

Remember he wanted to control what questions were asked on the interview. He wanted to control when he talked to keemstar. He wanted to control what was in the documentary and he wanted to control the narrative over his wife, which is why he decided to show her when gundam talked about her on his podcast. The guy is a control freak.

I use him as a reference for me to get better at streaming learning acceptable behaviors and all...well whats considered acceptable for streaming. I have yet to make a schedule due to the fact if I mess up or shit happens it messes me up for days from anger to depression and i cant imagine what you go thru with the kids. Dsp really really need to cycle from his mobile game to gaming more. Spend extra time streaming and less begging.

DSP's inability to divert from his schedule is one of the most perplexing things ive ever seen. I think it goes beyong time management and into his obsessive need for control, the same way Khet and her talking to chat got policed on stream.

Regarding second channels, I share the same feeling as you Atlus on not looking at them. For most creators, it seems like their second channels are more of an experiment area for new or different style of content or just a side passion project of theirs that *may* take off but low stakes if not. I’m sure there’s RUclips meta behind it as well, but I’ve only seen DSP boldly discuss he’s making them to double/triple dip on monetization.

It's so annoying how he acts like he doesn't understand memes about him or general internet culture. You know damn well what people are talking about when they say "Why am i toxic" And when he went on that huge "Just like me" rant, you wouldn't have gotten that mad if you didn't know exactly what that meme meant. I find it interesting how DSP is so bent on revisiting his old content to siphon fresh money from his dents. Especially given how subpar and offensive so much of his old stuff is. Keep in mind, he always says he has changed and he isn't like that anymore... and yet, he just will not let his "old" ways die and go away. Aside from his obvious desire to get maximum payment for minimum effort, it makes me think he really doesn't regret his old ways - and that if he could, he would go back to it with a smile.
Also, I love how the one game he wants desperately to get away from - Baldur's Gate 3 - is the one game getting him consistent money.
